When the Eternal, your God, has cut off the nations whose land the Eternal, your God, gives you, and you succeed them, and dwell in their cities, and in their houses,
19:2 שָׁלוֹשׁ עָרִים תַּבְדִּיל לָךְ בְּתוֹךְ אַרְצְךָ אֲשֶׁר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ נֹתֵן לְךָ לְרִשְׁתָּהּ Shalosh arim tavdil lakh betokh artsekha asher Adonay Eloheykha noten lekha lerishtah. you shall set apart three cities for yourself in the midst of your land, which the Eternal, your God, gives you to possess.
You shall prepare the way for yourself, and divide the borders of your land, which the Eternal, your God, causes you to inherit, into three parts, so that any manslayer may flee there.
19:4 וְזֶה דְּבַר הָרֹצֵחַ אֲשֶׁר־יָנוּס שָׁמָּה וָחָי אֲשֶׁר יַכֶּה אֶת־רֵעֵהוּ בִּבְלִי־דַעַת וְהוּא לֹא־שֹׂנֵא לוֹ מִתְּמֹל שִׁלְשֹׁם Vezeh dvar harotse'akh asher-yanus shamah vakhay asher yakeh et-re'ehu bivli-da'at vehu lo-sone lo mitmol shilshom. And this is the case of the manslayer who shall flee there and live: whoever strikes his neighbor unintentionally, whom he did not hate in times past;
19:5 וַאֲשֶׁר יָבֹא אֶת־רֵעֵהוּ בַיַּעַר לַחְטֹב עֵצִים וְנִדְּחָה יָדוֹ בַגַּרְזֶן לִכְרֹת הָעֵץ וְנָשַׁל הַבַּרְזֶל מִן־הָעֵץ וּמָצָא אֶת־רֵעֵהוּ וָמֵת הוּא יָנוּס אֶל־אַחַת הֶעָרִים־הָאֵלֶּה וָחָי Va'asher yavo et-re'ehu vaya'ar lakhtov etsim venidekhah yado vagarzen likhrot ha'ets venashal habarzel min-ha'ets umatsa et-re'ehu vamet hu yanus el-akhat he'arim-ha'eleh vakhay. as when a man goes into the forest with his neighbor to cut wood, and his hand fetches a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slips from the handle, and strikes his neighbor, so that he dies; he shall flee to one of these cities and live;
19:6 פֶּן־יִרְדֹּף גֹּאֵל הַדָּם אַחֲרֵי הָרֹצֵחַ כִּי־יֵחַם לְבָבוֹ וְהִשִּׂיגוֹ כִּי־יִרְבֶּה הַדֶּרֶךְ וְהִכָּהוּ נָפֶשׁ וְלוֹ אֵין מִשְׁפַּט־מָוֶת כִּי לֹא שֹׂנֵא הוּא לוֹ מִתְּמוֹל שִׁלְשׁוֹם Pen-yirdof go'el hadam akharey harotse'akh ki yekham levavo vehisigo ki-yirbeh haderekh vehikahu nafesh velo eyn mishpat-mavet ki lo sone hu lo mitmol shilshom. lest the avenger of blood pursue the manslayer while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and strike him mortally, though he was not deserving of death, since he did not hate him in times past.
Al-ken anokhi metsavekha lemor shalosh arim tavdil lakh. Therefore I command you, saying, You shall set apart three cities for yourself.
And if the Eternal, your God, enlarges your border, as He has sworn to your fathers, and gives you all the land which He promised to give to your fathers,
19:9 כִּי־תִשְׁמֹר אֶת־כָּל־הַמִּצְוָה הַזֹּאת לַעֲשֹׂתָהּ אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי מְצַוְּךָ הַיּוֹם לְאַהֲבָה אֶת־יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ וְלָלֶכֶת בִּדְרָכָיו כָּל־הַיָּמִים וְיָסַפְתָּ לְךָ עוֹד שָׁלֹשׁ עָרִים עַל הַשָּׁלֹשׁ הָאֵלֶּה Ki-tishmor et-kol-hamitsvah hazot la'asotah asher anokhi metsavekha hayom le'ahavah et-Adonay Eloheykha velalekhet bidrakhav kol-hayamim veyasafta lekha od shalosh arim al hashalosh ha'eleh. if you keep all this commandment to do it, which I command you this day, to love the Eternal, your God, and to walk always in His ways, then you shall add three more cities for yourself, besides these three,
19:10 וְלֹא יִשָּׁפֵךְ דָּם נָקִי בְּקֶרֶב אַרְצְךָ אֲשֶׁר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ נֹתֵן לְךָ נַחֲלָה וְהָיָה עָלֶיךָ דָּמִים ס Velo yishafekh dam naki bekerev artsekha asher Adonay Eloheykha noten lekha nakhalah vehayah aleykha damim. that innocent blood not be shed in the midst of your land, which the Eternal, your God, gives you for an inheritance, and blood be upon you.
19:11 וְכִי־יִהְיֶה אִישׁ שֹׂנֵא לְרֵעֵהוּ וְאָרַב לוֹ וְקָם עָלָיו וְהִכָּהוּ נֶפֶשׁ וָמֵת וְנָס אֶל־אַחַת הֶעָרִים הָאֵל Vekhi-yiheyeh ish sone lere'ehu ve'arav lo vekam alav vehikahu nefesh vamet venas el-akhat he'arim ha'el. But if any man hates his neighbor, and lies in wait for him, and rises up against him, and strikes him mortally, so that he dies, and flees into one of these cities,
19:12 וְשָׁלְחוּ זִקְנֵי עִירוֹ וְלָקְחוּ אֹתוֹ מִשָּׁם וְנָתְנוּ אֹתוֹ בְּיַד גֹּאֵל הַדָּם וָמֵת Veshalekhu zikney iro velakekhu oto misham venatnu oto beyad go'el hadam vamet. then the elders of his city shall send and take him from there, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.
Your eye shall not pity him, but you shall put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with you.

And it shall be, if it responds to you peaceably, and opens to you, then all the people found in it shall become tributary to you, and shall serve you.

Anokhi anokhi hu menakhemkhem mi-at vatir'i me'enosh yamut umiben-adam khatsir yinaten. I, I am He who comforts you; who are you, that you should fear a man who shall die, and the son of man who shall be made as grass?
And you have forgotten the Eternal your Maker, who stretched out the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth, and you fear continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy; and where is the fury of the oppressor?
The captive exile shall speedily be released, and he shall not die and go down to the pit, nor shall his bread fail.
For I am the Eternal your God, who stirs up the sea, so that its waves roar; the Eternal of Hosts is His (My) name.
And I have put my words in your mouth, and covered you in the shadow of my hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say to Zion, "You are my people."
51:17 הִתְעוֹרְרִי הִתְעוֹרְרִי קוּמִי יְרוּשָׁלִַם אֲשֶׁר שָׁתִית מִיַּד יְהוָה אֶת־כּוֹס חֲמָתוֹ אֶת־קֻבַּעַת כּוֹס הַתַּרְעֵלָה שָׁתִית מָצִית Hit'oreri hit'oreri kumi Yerushalayim asher shatit miyad Adonay et-kos khamato et-kuba'at kos hatar'elah shatit matsit. Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, you who have drunk at the hand of the Eternal the cup of His fury; you have drunk the dregs of the cup of trembling, and wrung them out.
Eyn-menahel lah mikol-banim yaladah ve'eyn makhazik beyadah mikol-banim gidelah. There is none to guide her among all the sons whom she has brought forth; neither is there any that takes her by the hand among all the sons that she has brought up.
These two things have befallen you; who shall be sorry for you? Desolation and destruction, and famine and the sword; by whom shall I comfort you?
Your sons have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, as a wild bull caught in a net; they are full of the fury of the Eternal, the rebuke of your God.
Lakhen shim'i-na zot anyah ushekhurat velo miyayin. Therefore hear now this, you afflicted, and drunk, but not with wine:
51:22 כֹּה־אָמַר אֲדֹנַיִךְ יְהוָה וֵאלֹהַיִךְ יָרִיב עַמּוֹ הִנֵּה לָקַחְתִּי מִיָּדֵךְ אֶת־כּוֹס הַתַּרְעֵלָה אֶת־קֻבַּעַת כּוֹס חֲמָתִי לֹא־תוֹסִיפִי לִשְׁתּוֹתָהּ עוֹד Koh-amar Adonayikh Adonay ve'Elohayikh yariv amo hineh lakakhti miyadekh et-kos hatar'elah et-kuba'at kos khamati lo-tosifi lishtotah od. Thus says your Lord the Eternal, and your God who pleads the cause of His people: "Behold, I have taken out of your hand the cup of trembling, the dregs of the cup of my fury; you shall no more drink it again,
51:23 וְשַׂמְתִּיהָ בְּיַד־מוֹגַיִךְ אֲשֶׁר־אָמְרוּ לְנַפְשֵׁךְ שְׁחִי וְנַעֲבֹרָה וַתָּשִׂימִי כָאָרֶץ גֵּוֵךְ וְכַחוּץ לַעֹבְרִים ס Vesamtiha beyad mogayikh asher-amru lenafshekh shkhi vena'avorah vatasimi kha'arets gevekh vekhakhuts la'ovrim. but I will put it into the hand of those who afflict you, who have said to your soul, 'Bow down, that we may pass over'; and you have laid your body as the ground, and as the street, for those who passed over."
Awake, awake, put on your strength, O Zion; put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city, for from now on there shall no more come into you the uncircumcised and the unclean.
52:2 הִתְנַעֲרִי מֵעָפָר קוּמִי שְּׁבִי יְרוּשָׁלִָם התפתחוהתפתחוהִתְפַּתְּחִי מוֹסְרֵי צַוָּארֵךְ שְׁבִיָּה בַּת־צִיּוֹן ס Hitna'ari me'afar kumi shvi Yerushalayim hitpatkhi mosrey tsavarekh shvi'ah bat-Tsiyon. Shake yourself from the dust; arise, sit down, O Jerusalem; loose yourself from the bands of your neck, O captive daughter of Zion.
Ki-koh amar Adonay khinam nimkartem velo vekhesef tiga'elu. For thus says the Eternal: "You were sold for nothing, and you shall be redeemed without money (but through repentance)."
52:4 כִּי כֹה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה מִצְרַיִם יָרַד־עַמִּי בָרִאשֹׁנָה לָגוּר שָׁם וְאַשּׁוּר בְּאֶפֶס עֲשָׁקוֹ Ki koh amar Adonay Elohim Mitsrayim yarad-ami varishonah lagur sham ve'Ashur be'efes ashako. For thus says the Eternal God: "My people went down at first into Egypt to sojourn there; and Assyria oppressed them without cause.
Now therefore, what have I here," says the Eternal, "since My people is taken away for nothing? Those who rule over them make them wail," says the Eternal, "and My name continually every day is blasphemed.
Lakhen yeda ami shemi lakhen bayom khakhu ki-ani-khu hamedaber hineni. Therefore My people shall know My name; therefore they shall know in that day that I am He that speaks: "Behold, it is I."
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good tidings, who publishes peace, who brings good news, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, "Your God reigns!"
52:8 קוֹל צֹפַיִךְ נָשְׂאוּ קוֹל יַחְדָּו יְרַנֵּנוּ כִּי עַיִן בְּעַיִן יִרְאוּ בְּשׁוּב יְהוָה צִיּוֹן Kol tsofayikh nase'u kol yakdav yeranenu ki ayin be'ayin yir'u beshuv Adonay Tsiyon. The voice of your watchmen! They lift up the voice, together they sing; for they shall see eye to eye, when the Eternal returns to Zion.
Break forth into joy, sing together, you ruins of Jerusalem, for the Eternal has comforted His people, He has redeemed Jerusalem.
52:10 חָשַׂף יְהוָה אֶת־זְרוֹעַ קָדְשׁוֹ לְעֵינֵי כָּל־הַגּוֹיִם וְרָאוּ כָּל־אַפְסֵי־אָרֶץ אֵת יְשׁוּעַת אֱלֹהֵינוּ ס Khashaf Adonay et-zroa kodsho le'eyney kol-hagoyim vera'u kol-afsey-arets et yeshu'at Eloheynu. The Eternal has made bare His holy arm in the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
Depart, depart, go out from there, touch no unclean thing; go out from the midst of her; be clean, you who bear the vessels of the Eternal.
For you shall not go out in haste, nor go by flight, for the Eternal will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard.
