3:23 וָאֶתְחַנַּן אֶל־יְהוָה בָּעֵת הַהִוא לֵאמֹר. Va'etchanán el Adonay ba'et hahí lemor And I pleaded with the LORD at that time, saying:
3:24 אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה אַתָּה הַחִלּוֹתָ לְהַרְאוֹת אֶת־עַבְדְּךָ אֶת־גָּדְלְךָ וְאֶת־יָדְךָ הַחֲזָקָה אֲשֶׁר מִי־אֵל בַּשָּׁמַיִם וּבָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר־יַעֲשֶׂה כְמַעֲשֶׂיךָ וְכִגְבוּרֹתֶךָ. Adonay Elohim, atá hakhilota leharot et avdekhá et godlekhá ve'et yadekhá hakhazaká, asher mi El bashamáyim uva'áretz asher ya'asé khema'asekhá vekhigvurotékha O Lord GOD, You have begun to show Your servant Your greatness and Your strong hand; for what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do works and mighty acts like Yours?
3:25 אֶעְבְּרָה־נָּא וְאֶרְאֶה אֶת־הָאָרֶץ הַטּוֹבָה אֲשֶׁר בְּעֵבֶר הַיַּרְדֵּן הָהָר הַטּוֹב הַזֶּה וְהַלְּבָנוֹן. E'ebrá na ve'er'é et ha'áretz hatová asher be'éver haYardén, hahár hatov hazé vehaLevanón Let me cross over, I pray, and see the good land beyond the Jordan, that good hill country, and the Lebanon.
3:26 וַיִּתְעַבֵּר יְהוָה בִּי לְמַעַנְכֶם וְלֹא שָׁמַע אֵלָי וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֵלַי רַב־לָךְ אַל־תּוֹסֶף דַּבֵּר אֵלַי עוֹד בַּדָּבָר הַזֶּה. Vayit'abér Adonay bi lema'ankhém veló shamá elay, vayómer Adonay elay: rav lakh, al tosef daber elay od badavár hazé But the LORD was angry with me on your account, and would not listen to me; and the LORD said to me: Enough! Speak no more to Me of this matter.
3:27 עֲלֵה רֹאשׁ הַפִּסְגָּה וְשָׂא עֵינֶיךָ יָמָּה וְצָפֹנָה וְתֵימָנָה וּמִזְרָחָה וּרְאֵה בְעֵינֶיךָ כִּי־לֹא תַעֲבֹר אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּן הַזֶּה. Alé rosh haPisgá vesá einékha yáma vetzafóna veteimána umizrákha ur'é be'einékha ki lo ta'avor et haYardén hazé Go up to the top of Pisgah, and lift up your eyes westward, northward, southward, and eastward, and see it with your eyes; for you shall not cross this Jordan.
3:28 וְצַו אֶת־יְהוֹשֻׁעַ וְחַזְּקֵהוּ וְאַמְּצֵהוּ כִּי־הוּא יַעֲבֹר לִפְנֵי הָעָם הַזֶּה וְהוּא יַנְחִיל אוֹתָם אֶת־הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר תִּרְאֶה. Vetzav et Yehoshúa vekhazkéhu ve'amtzéhu ki hu ya'avor lifné ha'am hazé vehu yankhil otám et ha'áretz asher tir'é But charge Joshua, and encourage him and strengthen him; for he shall cross over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which you shall see.
3:29 וַנֵּשֶׁב בַּגָּיְא מוּל בֵּית פְּעוֹר. Vanéshev bagáy mul Bet Pe'or So we remained in the valley opposite Beth-peor.
4:1 וְעַתָּה יִשְׂרָאֵל שְׁמַע אֶל־הַחֻקִּים וְאֶל־הַמִּשְׁפָּטִים אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי מְלַמֵּד אֶתְכֶם לַעֲשׂוֹת לְמַעַן תִּחְיוּ וּבָאתֶם וִירִשְׁתֶּם אֶת־הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי אֲבֹתֵיכֶם נֹתֵן לָכֶם. Ve'atá Yisrael shemá el hakhukím ve'el hamishpatím asher anokhí melamed etkhém la'asot lemá'an tikhyú uva'tém virishtém et ha'áretz asher Adonay Elohé avotekhém notén lakhém Now therefore, Israel, listen to the statutes and the ordinances which I teach you to do, that you may live and go in and possess the land which the LORD, the God of your fathers, gives you.
4:2 לֹא תֹסִפוּ עַל־הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי מְצַוֶּה אֶתְכֶם וְלֹא תִגְרְעוּ מִמֶּנּוּ לִשְׁמֹר אֶת־מִצְוֺת יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי מְצַוֶּה אֶתְכֶם. Lo tosífu al hadavár asher anokhí metzavé etkhém veló tigre'ú minénu lishmor et mitzvot Adonay Elohekhém asher anokhí metzavé etkhém You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
4:3 עֵינֵיכֶם הָרֹאֹת אֵת אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂה יְהוָה בְּבַעַל פְּעוֹר כִּי כָל־הָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר הָלַךְ אַחֲרֵי בַעַל־פְּעוֹר הִשְׁמִידוֹ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ מִקִּרְבֶּךָ. Einekhém haro'ot et asher asá Adonay beVá'al Pe'or ki khol ha'ish asher halákh akharé Va'al Pe'or hishmidó Adonay Elohékha mikirbékha Your eyes have seen what the LORD did at Baal-peor; for every man who followed Baal-peor, the LORD your God destroyed him from among you.
4:4 וְאַתֶּם הַדְּבֵקִים בַּיהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם חַיִּים כֻּלְּכֶם הַיּוֹם. Ve'atém hadevekím baAdonay Elohekhém khayím kulekhém hayóm But you who held fast to the LORD your God are all alive today.

4:5 רְאֵה לִמַּדְתִּי אֶתְכֶם חֻקִּים וּמִשְׁפָּטִים כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוַּנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהָי לַעֲשׂוֹת כֵּן בְּקֶרֶב הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר אַתֶּם בָּאִים שָׁמָּה לְרִשְׁתָּהּ. Re'é limadeti etkhém khukím umishpatím ka'asher tzivani Adonay Elohái la'asot ken bekérev ha'áretz asher atém ba'ím shama lerishtá See, I have taught you statutes and ordinances, just as the LORD my God commanded me, that you should do thus in the land which you are entering to possess it.
4:6 וּשְׁמַרְתֶּם וַעֲשִׂיתֶם כִּי הִוא חָכְמַתְכֶם וּבִינַתְכֶם לְעֵינֵי הָעַמִּים אֲשֶׁר יִשְׁמְעוּן אֵת כָּל־הַחֻקִּים הָאֵלֶּה וְאָמְרוּ רַק עַם־חָכָם וְנָבוֹן הַגּוֹי הַגָּדוֹל הַזֶּה. Ushmartém va'asitém ki hi khokhmatkhém uvinatkhém le'einé ha'amím asher yishme'ún et kol hakhukím ha'éle ve'ameru rak am khakhám venavón hagoy hagadól hazé Keep them and do them; for that will be your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, who will hear all these statutes and say: Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
4:7 כִּי מִי־גוֹי גָּדוֹל אֲשֶׁר־לוֹ אֱלֹהִים קְרֹבִים אֵלָיו כַּיהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ בְּכָּל־קָרְאֵנוּ אֵלָיו. Ki mi goy gadól asher lo Elohim kerovím elav kaAdonay Elohénu bekhol koreénu elav For what great nation is there that has a god so near to it as the LORD our God is to us, whenever we call upon Him?
4:8 וּמִי גּוֹי גָּדוֹל אֲשֶׁר־לוֹ חֻקִּים וּמִשְׁפָּטִים צַדִּיקִם כְּכֹל הַתּוֹרָה הַזֹּאת אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי נֹתֵן לִפְנֵיכֶם הַיּוֹם. Umí goy gadól asher lo khukím umishpatím tzadikím kekhol haTorá hazot asher anokhí notén lifnekhém hayóm And what great nation is there that has statutes and ordinances so righteous as all this Torah which I set before you this day?
4:9 רַק הִשָּׁמֶר לְךָ וּשְׁמֹר נַפְשְׁךָ מְאֹד פֶּן־תִּשְׁכַּח אֶת־הַדְּבָרִים אֲשֶׁר־רָאוּ עֵינֶיךָ וּפֶן־יָסוּרוּ מִלְּבָבְךָ כֹּל יְמֵי חַיֶּיךָ וְהוֹדַעְתָּם לְבָנֶיךָ וְלִבְנֵי בָנֶיךָ. Rak hishámer lekhá ushmor nafshekhá me'ód pen tishkákh et hadevarím asher ra'ú einékha ufén yasúru milevavkhá kol yemé khayékha vehoda'tám levanékha velivné vanékha Only take heed to yourself, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life; but teach them to your children and your children's children —
4:10 יוֹם אֲשֶׁר עָמַדְתָּ לִפְנֵי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ בְּחֹרֵב בֶּאֱמֹר יְהוָה אֵלַי הַקְהֶל־לִי אֶת־הָעָם וְאַשְׁמִעֵם אֶת־דְּבָרָי אֲשֶׁר יִלְמְדוּן לְיִרְאָה אֹתִי כָּל־הַיָּמִים אֲשֶׁר הֵם חַיִּים עַל־הָאֲדָמָה וְאֶת־בְּנֵיהֶם יְלַמֵּדוּן. Yom asher amádeta lifné Adonay Elohékha beKhorév be'emór Adonay elay hakhél li et ha'ám ve'ashmi'ém et devaráy asher yilmedún leyir'á otí kol hayamím asher hem khayím al ha'adamá ve'et benehém yelamedún the day you stood before the LORD your God at Horeb, when the LORD said to me: Gather the people to Me, that I may let them hear My words, so that they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children.
4:11 וַתִּקְרְבוּן וַתַּעַמְדוּן תַּחַת הָהָר וְהָהָר בֹּעֵר בָּאֵשׁ עַד־לֵב הַשָּׁמַיִם חֹשֶׁךְ עָנָן וַעֲרָפֶל. Vatikrevún vata'amdún tákhat hahár vehahár bo'ér ba'ésh ad lev hashamáyim khóshekh anán va'arafél And you came near and stood at the foot of the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire to the heart of heaven, with darkness, cloud, and thick gloom.
4:12 וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֲלֵיכֶם מִתּוֹךְ הָאֵשׁ קוֹל דְּבָרִים אַתֶּם שֹׁמְעִים וּתְמוּנָה אֵינְכֶם רֹאִים זוּלָתִי קוֹל. Vayedabér Adonay alekhém mitókh ha'ésh kol devarím atém shom'ím utemuná eynekhém ro'ím zulatí kol Then the LORD spoke to you out of the midst of the fire; you heard the sound of words, but saw no form — only a voice.
4:13 וַיַּגֵּד לָכֶם אֶת־בְּרִיתוֹ אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה אֶתְכֶם לַעֲשׂוֹת עֲשֶׂרֶת הַדְּבָרִים וַיִּכְתְּבֵם עַל־שְׁנֵי לֻחוֹת אֲבָנִים. Vayaged lakhém et beritó asher tzivá etkhém la'asot aséret hadevarím vayikhtevém al shené lukhót avaním And He declared to you His covenant, which He commanded you to perform, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone.
4:14 וְאֹתִי צִוָּה יְהוָה בָּעֵת הַהִוא לְלַמֵּד אֶתְכֶם חֻקִּים וּמִשְׁפָּטִים לַעֲשֹׂתְכֶם אֹתָם בָּאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר אַתֶּם עֹבְרִים שָׁמָּה לְרִשְׁתָּהּ. Ve'otí tzivá Adonay ba'et hahí lelamed etkhém khukím umishpatím la'asotkhém otám ba'áretz asher atém ovrím shama lerishtá And the LORD commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and ordinances, that you might do them in the land which you are crossing over to possess.
4:15 וְנִשְׁמַרְתֶּם מְאֹד לְנַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶם כִּי לֹא רְאִיתֶם כָּל־תְּמוּנָה בְּיוֹם דִּבֶּר יְהוָה אֲלֵיכֶם בְּחֹרֵב מִתּוֹךְ הָאֵשׁ. Venishmartém me'ód lenafshotekhém ki lo re'itém kol temuná beyóm dibér Adonay alekhém beKhorév mitókh ha'ésh Take careful heed to yourselves, for you saw no form on the day the LORD spoke to you at Horeb out of the midst of the fire,
4:16 פֶּן־תַּשְׁחִתוּן וַעֲשִׂיתֶם לָכֶם פֶּסֶל תְּמוּנַת כָּל־סָמֶל תַּבְנִית זָכָר אוֹ נְקֵבָה. Pen tashkhitún va'asitém lakhém pésel temunát kol sámel tavnít zakhár o nekevá lest you act corruptly and make for yourselves a carved image in the form of any figure, the likeness of male or female,
4:17 תַּבְנִית כָּל־בְּהֵמָה אֲשֶׁר בָּאָרֶץ תַּבְנִית כָּל־צִפּוֹר כָּנָף אֲשֶׁר תָּעוּף בַּשָּׁמָיִם. Tavnít kol behemá asher ba'áretz tavnít kol tzipór kanáf asher ta'úf bashamáyim the likeness of any animal that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged bird that flies in the air,
4:18 תַּבְנִית כָּל־רֹמֵשׂ בָּאֲדָמָה תַּבְנִית כָּל־דָּגָה אֲשֶׁר־בַּמַּיִם מִתַּחַת לָאָרֶץ. Tavnít kol romés ba'adamá tavnít kol dagá asher bamáyim mitákhat la'áretz the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground, or the likeness of any fish that is in the water beneath the earth.
4:19 וּפֶן־תִּשָּׂא עֵינֶיךָ הַשָּׁמַיְמָה וְרָאִיתָ אֶת־הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ וְאֶת־הַיָּרֵחַ וְאֶת־הַכּוֹכָבִים כֹּל צְבָא הַשָּׁמַיִם וְנִדַּחְתָּ וְהִשְׁתַּחֲוִיתָ לָהֶם וַעֲבַדְתָּם אֲשֶׁר חָלַק יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ אֹתָם לְכֹל הָעַמִּים תַּחַת כָּל־הַשָּׁמָיִם. Ufén tisá einékha hashamáyma vera'íta et hashémesh ve'et hayaréakh ve'et hakokhavím kol tzevá hashamáyim venidakhtá vehishtakhavíta lahém va'avadtám asher khalák Adonay Elohékha otám lekhól ha'amím tákhat kol hashamáyim And take heed, lest you lift your eyes to heaven, and see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, and be drawn away and worship them and serve them, which the LORD your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven.
4:20 וְאֶתְכֶם לָקַח יְהוָה וַיּוֹצִא אֶתְכֶם מִכּוּר הַבַּרְזֶל מִמִּצְרָיִם לִהְיוֹת לוֹ לְעַם נַחֲלָה כַּיּוֹם הַזֶּה. Ve'etkhém lakákh Adonay vayotzí etkhém mikúr habarzél mimitzráyim liheyót lo le'ám nakhalá kayóm hazé But the LORD has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be His people, an inheritance, as you are this day.
4:21 וַיהוָה הִתְאַנֶּף־בִּי עַל־דִּבְרֵיכֶם וַיִּשָּׁבַע לְבִלְתִּי עָבְרִי אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּן וּלְבִלְתִּי־בֹא אֶל־הָאָרֶץ הַטּוֹבָה אֲשֶׁר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ נֹתֵן לְךָ נַחֲלָה. VaAdonay hit'anéf bi al divrekhém vayishavá levilti ovrí et haYardén ulevilti vo el ha'áretz hatová asher Adonay Elohékha notén lekhá nakhalá And the LORD was angry with me because of you, and swore that I would not cross the Jordan, and that I would not enter the good land which the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.
4:22 כִּי אָנֹכִי מֵת בָּאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת אֵינֶנִּי עֹבֵר אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּן וְאַתֶּם עֹבְרִים וִירִשְׁתֶּם אֶת־הָאָרֶץ הַטּוֹבָה הַזֹּאת. Ki anokhí met ba'áretz hazót einéni ovér et haYardén ve'atém ovrím virishtém et ha'áretz hatová hazót For I must die in this land; I shall not cross the Jordan; but you shall cross over and possess that good land.
4:23 הִשָּׁמְרוּ לָכֶם פֶּן־תִּשְׁכְּחוּ אֶת־בְּרִית יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם אֲשֶׁר כָּרַת עִמָּכֶם וַעֲשִׂיתֶם לָכֶם פֶּסֶל תְּמוּנַת כֹּל אֲשֶׁר צִוְּךָ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ. Hishamerú lakhém pen tishkekhú et berít Adonay Elohekhém asher karát imakhém va'asitém lakhém pésel temunát kol asher tzivkhá Adonay Elohékha Take heed to yourselves, lest you forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which He made with you, and make for yourselves a carved image in the form of anything which the LORD your God has forbidden you.
4:24 כִּי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ אֵשׁ אֹכְלָה הוּא אֵל קַנָּא. Ki Adonay Elohékha esh okhlá hu El kaná For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.
4:25 כִּי־תוֹלִיד בָּנִים וּבְנֵי בָנִים וְנוֹשַׁנְתֶּם בָּאָרֶץ וְהִשְׁחַתֶּם וַעֲשִׂיתֶם פֶּסֶל תְּמוּנַת כֹּל וַעֲשִׂיתֶם הָרַע בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה־אֱלֹהֶיךָ לְהַכְעִיסוֹ. Ki tolíd baním uvné baním venoshantém ba'áretz vehishkhatém va'asitém pésel temunát kol va'asitém hará be'einé Adonay Elohékha lehakhisó When you beget children and grandchildren, and grow old in the land, and act corruptly and make a carved image in the form of anything, and do evil in the sight of the LORD your God, provoking Him to anger,
4:26 הַעִידֹתִי בָכֶם הַיּוֹם אֶת־הַשָּׁמַיִם וְאֶת־הָאָרֶץ כִּי־אָבֹד תֹּאבֵדוּן מַהֵר מֵעַל הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר אַתֶּם עֹבְרִים אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּן שָׁמָּה לְרִשְׁתָּהּ לֹא־תַאֲרִיכֻן יָמִים עָלֶיהָ כִּי הִשָּׁמֵד תִּשָּׁמֵדוּן. Ha'idóti vakhém hayóm et hashamáyim ve'et ha'áretz ki avód to'vedún mahér me'ál ha'áretz asher atém ovrím et haYardén shama lerishtá lo ta'arikhún yamím aléha ki hishamed tishamedún I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that you will soon utterly perish from the land which you cross over the Jordan to possess; you will not prolong your days in it, but will be utterly destroyed.
4:27 וְהֵפִיץ יְהוָה אֶתְכֶם בָּעַמִּים וְנִשְׁאַרְתֶּם מְתֵי מִסְפָּר בַּגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר יְנַהֵג יְהוָה אֶתְכֶם שָׁמָּה. Vehefítz Adonay etkhém ba'amím venish'artém metéy mispár bagoyím asher yenahég Adonay etkhém shama And the LORD will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations where the LORD drives you.
4:28 וַעֲבַדְתֶּם־שָׁם אֱלֹהִים מַעֲשֵׂה יְדֵי אָדָם עֵץ וָאֶבֶן אֲשֶׁר לֹא־יִרְאוּן וְלֹא יִשְׁמְעוּן וְלֹא יֹאכְלוּן וְלֹא יְרִיחֻן. Va'avadtém sham Elohím ma'asé yedé adám etz va'éven asher lo yir'ún veló yishme'ún veló yokhlún veló yerikhún And there you will serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see nor hear nor eat nor smell.
4:29 וּבִקַּשְׁתֶּם מִשָּׁם אֶת־יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ וּמָצָאתָ כִּי תִדְרְשֶׁנּוּ בְּכָל־לְבָבְךָ וּבְכָל־נַפְשֶׁךָ. Uvikashtém misham et Adonay Elohékha umatzáta ki tidreshénu bekhol levavkhá uvekhol nafshékha But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.
4:30 בַּצַּר לְךָ וּמְצָאוּךָ כֹּל הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה בְּאַחֲרִית הַיָּמִים וְשַׁבְתָּ עַד־יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ וְשָׁמַעְתָּ בְּקֹלוֹ. Batzár lekhá umtza'úkha kol hadevarím ha'éle be'akharít hayamím veshavtá ad Adonay Elohékha veshamá'ta bekoló When you are in distress, and all these things come upon you in the latter days, you will return to the LORD your God and listen to His voice.
4:31 כִּי אֵל רַחוּם יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ לֹא יַרְפְּךָ וְלֹא יַשְׁחִיתֶךָ וְלֹא יִשְׁכַּח אֶת־בְּרִית אֲבֹתֶיךָ אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּע לָהֶם. Ki El rakhúm Adonay Elohékha lo yarpekhá veló yashkhitékha veló yishkákh et berít avotékha asher nishbá lahém For the LORD your God is a merciful God; He will not abandon you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which He swore to them.
4:32 כִּי שְׁאַל־נָא לְיָמִים רִאשֹׁנִים אֲשֶׁר־הָיוּ לְפָנֶיךָ לְמִן־הַיּוֹם אֲשֶׁר בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים אָדָם עַל־הָאָרֶץ וּלְמִקְצֵה הַשָּׁמַיִם וְעַד־קְצֵה הַשָּׁמָיִם הֲנִהְיָה כַּדָּבָר הַגָּדוֹל הַזֶּה אוֹ הֲנִשְׁמַע כָּמֹהוּ. Ki she'ál na leyamím rishoním asher hayú lefanékha lemín hayóm asher bará Elohím adám al ha'áretz ulmiktzé hashamáyim ve'ád ketzé hashamáyim haniheyá kadavár hagadól hazé o hanishmá kamóhu For ask now of the former days, which were before you, since the day God created man on the earth, and ask from one end of heaven to the other, whether such a great thing as this has happened, or anything like it has been heard —

4:34 אוֹ הֲנִסָּה אֱלֹהִים לָבוֹא לָקַחַת לוֹ גוֹי מִקֶּרֶב גּוֹי בְּמַסֹּת בְּאֹתֹת וּבְמוֹפְתִים וּבְמִלְחָמָה וּבְיָד חֲזָקָה וּבִזְרוֹעַ נְטוּיָה וּבְמוֹרָאִים גְּדֹלִים כְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂה לָכֶם יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם בְּמִצְרַיִם לְעֵינֶיךָ. 4:35 אַתָּה הָרְאֵתָ לָדַעַת כִּי יְהוָה הוּא הָאֱלֹהִים אֵין עוֹד מִלְבַדּוֹ. Atá hor'éta ladá'at ki Adonay hu ha'Elohím eyn od milvadó To you it was shown, that you might know that the LORD, He is God; there is no other besides Him.
4:36 מִן־הַשָּׁמַיִם הִשְׁמִיעֲךָ אֶת־קֹלוֹ לְיַסְּרֶךָּ וְעַל־הָאָרֶץ הֶרְאֲךָ אֶת־אִשּׁוֹ הַגְּדוֹלָה וּדְבָרָיו שָׁמַעְתָּ מִתּוֹךְ הָאֵשׁ. 4:37 וְתַחַת כִּי אָהַב אֶת־אֲבֹתֶיךָ וַיִּבְחַר בְּזַרְעוֹ אַחֲרָיו וַיּוֹצִאֲךָ בְּפָנָיו בְּכֹחוֹ הַגָּדֹל מִמִּצְרָיִם. Lehorísh goyím guedolím va'atzumím mimékha mipanékha lahavi'akhá latét lekhá et artzám nakhalá kayóm hazé to drive out from before you nations greater and mightier than you, to bring you in and give you their land as an inheritance, as it is this day.
4:39 וְיָדַעְתָּ הַיּוֹם וַהֲשֵׁבֹתָ אֶל־לְבָבֶךָ כִּי יְהוָה הוּא הָאֱלֹהִים בַּשָּׁמַיִם מִמַּעַל וְעַל־הָאָרֶץ מִתָּחַת אֵין עוֹד. 4:40 וְשָׁמַרְתָּ אֶת־חֻקָּיו וְאֶת־מִצְוֺתָיו אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי מְצַוְּךָ הַיּוֹם אֲשֶׁר יִיטַב לְךָ וּלְבָנֶיךָ אַחֲרֶיךָ וּלְמַעַן תַּאֲרִיךְ יָמִים עַל־הַאֲדָמָה אֲשֶׁר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ נֹתֵן לְךָ כָּל־הַיָּמִים. 4:43 אֶת־בֶּצֶר בַּמִּדְבָּר בְּאֶרֶץ הַמִּישֹׁר לָרֻאוּבֵנִי וְאֶת־רָאמֹת בַּגִּלְעָד לַגָּדִי וְאֶת־גּוֹלָן בַּבָּשָׁן לַמְנַשִּׁי. Et Bétzer bamidbár be'éretz hamishór laRuvení ve'et Ramót baGuilád laGadí ve'et Golán baBashán laMenashí Bezer in the wilderness, on the plateau, for the Reubenites; Ramoth in Gilead, for the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan, for the Manassites.
4:44 וְזֹאת הַתּוֹרָה אֲשֶׁר־שָׂם מֹשֶׁה לִפְנֵי בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל. Vezót haTorá asher sam Moshé lifné bené Yisrael This is the Torah which Moses set before the children of Israel.

5:5 אָנֹכִי עֹמֵד בֵּין־יְהוָה וּבֵינֵיכֶם בָּעֵת הַהִוא לְהַגִּיד לָכֶם אֶת־דְּבַר יְהוָה כִּי יְרֵאתֶם מִפְּנֵי הָאֵשׁ וְלֹא־עֲלִיתֶם בָּהָר לֵאמֹר. 5:7 לֹא־יִהְיֶה לְךָ אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים עַל־פָּנָיַ. Lo yihyé lekhá elohím akherím al panáy You shall have no other gods before Me.
5:8 לֹא־תַעֲשֶׂה לְךָ פֶסֶל כָּל־תְּמוּנָה אֲשֶׁר בַּשָּׁמַיִם מִמַּעַל וַאֲשֶׁר בָּאָרֶץ מִתָּחַת וַאֲשֶׁר בַּמַּיִם מִתַּחַת לָאָרֶץ. 5:9 לֹא־תִשְׁתַּחֲוֶה לָהֶם וְלֹא תָעָבְדֵם כִּי אָנֹכִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ אֵל קַנָּא פֹּקֵד עֲוֺן אָבוֹת עַל־בָּנִים וְעַל־שִׁלֵּשִׁים וְעַל־רִבֵּעִים לְשֹׂנְאָי. 5:10 וְעֹשֶׂה חֶסֶד לַאֲלָפִים לְאֹהֲבַי וּלְשֹׁמְרֵי מִצְוֺתָו. Ve'osé khésed la'alafím le'ohaváy ulshomré mitzvotáv but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
5:11 לֹא תִשָּׂא אֶת־שֵׁם־יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ לַשָּׁוְא כִּי לֹא יְנַקֶּה יְהוָה אֵת אֲשֶׁר־יִשָּׂא אֶת־שְׁמוֹ לַשָּׁוְא. Lo tisá et shem Adonay Elohékha lasháv ki lo yenaké Adonay et asher yisá et shemó lasháv You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
5:12 שָׁמוֹר אֶת־יוֹם הַשַׁבָּת לְקַדְּשׁוֹ כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוְּךָ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ. Shamór et yom haShabát lekadeshó ka'asher tzivkhá Adonay Elohékha Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the LORD your God has commanded you.

5:15 וְזָכַרְתָּ כִּי־עֶבֶד הָיִיתָ בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם וַיֹּצִאֲךָ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ מִשָּׁם בְּיָד חֲזָקָה וּבִזְרֹעַ נְטוּיָה עַל־כֵּן צִוְּךָ יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ לַעֲשׂוֹת אֶת־יוֹם הַשַׁבָּת. 5:22 וְעַתָּה לָמָּה נָמוּת כִּי תֹאכְלֵנוּ הָאֵשׁ הַגְּדֹלָה הַזֹּאת אִם־יֹסְפִים אֲנַחְנוּ לִשְׁמֹעַ אֶת־קוֹל יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ עוֹד וָמָתְנוּ. 5:23 כִּי מִי כָל־בָּשָׂר אֲשֶׁר שָׁמַע קוֹל אֱלֹהִים חַיִּים מְדַבֵּר מִתּוֹךְ־הָאֵשׁ כָּמֹנוּ וַיֶּחִי. Ki mi khol basár asher shamá kol Elohím khayím medabér mitókh ha'ésh kamónu vayékhi For who is there of all flesh who has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?
5:24 קְרַב אַתָּה וּשֲׁמָע אֵת כָּל־אֲשֶׁר יֹאמַר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ וְאַתְּ תְּדַבֵּר אֵלֵינוּ אֵת כָּל־אֲשֶׁר יְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ אֵלֶיךָ וְשָׁמַעְנוּ וְעָשִׂינוּ. 5:26 מִי־יִתֵּן וְהָיָה לְבָבָם זֶה לָהֶם לְיִרְאָה אֹתִי וְלִשְׁמֹר אֶת־כָּל־מִצְוֺתַי כָּל־הַיָּמִים לְמַעַן יִיטַב לָהֶם וְלִבְנֵיהֶם לְעֹלָם. 5:27 לֵךְ אֱמֹר לָהֶם שׁוּבוּ לָכֶם לְאָהֳלֵיכֶם. Lekh emór lahém shúvu lakhém le'ohalekhém Go and say to them: Return to your tents.
5:28 וְאַתָּה פֹּה עֲמֹד עִמָּדִי וַאֲדַבְּרָה אֵלֶיךָ אֵת כָּל־הַמִּצְוָה וְהַחֻקִּים וְהַמִּשְׁפָּטִים אֲשֶׁר תְּלַמְּדֵם וְעָשׂוּ בָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי נֹתֵן לָהֶם לְרִשְׁתָּהּ. 5:29 וּשְׁמַרְתֶּם לַעֲשׂוֹת כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם אֶתְכֶם לֹא תָסֻרוּ יָמִין וּשְׂמֹאל. Ushmartém la'asot ka'asher tzivá Adonay Elohekhém etkhém lo tasúru yamín usmol You shall be careful to do therefore as the LORD your God has commanded you; you shall not turn aside to the right or to the left.
5:30 בְּכָל־הַדֶּרֶךְ אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם אֶתְכֶם תֵּלֵכוּ לְמַעַן תִּחְיוּן וְטוֹב לָכֶם וְהַאֲרַכְתֶּם יָמִים בָּאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר תִּירָשׁוּן. 6:1 וְזֹאת הַמִּצְוָה הַחֻקִּים וְהַמִּשְׁפָּטִים אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם לְלַמֵּד אֶתְכֶם לַעֲשׂוֹת בָּאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר אַתֶּם עֹבְרִים שָׁמָּה לְרִשְׁתָּהּ. 6:2 לְמַעַן תִּירָא אֶת־יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ לִשְׁמֹר אֶת־כָּל־חֻקֹּתָיו וּמִצְוֺתָיו אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי מְצַוֶּךָ אַתָּה וּבִנְךָ וּבֶן־בִּנְךָ כֹּל יְמֵי חַיֶּיךָ וּלְמַעַן יַאֲרִכֻן יָמֶיךָ. 6:3 וְשָׁמַעְתָּ יִשְׂרָאֵל וְשָׁמַרְתָּ לַעֲשׂוֹת אֲשֶׁר יִיטַב לְךָ וַאֲשֶׁר תִּרְבּוּן מְאֹד כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי אֲבֹתֶיךָ לָךְ אֶרֶץ זָבַת חָלָב וּדְבָשׁ. 6:5 וְאָהַבְתָּ אֵת יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ בְּכָל־לְבָבְךָ וּבְכָל־נַפְשְׁךָ וּבְכָל־מְאֹדֶךָ. Ve'ahavtá et Adonay Elohékha bekhol levavkhá uvekhol nafshekhá uvekhol me'odékha And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might.

6:9 וּכְתַבְתָּם עַל־מְזוּזֹת בֵּיתֶךָ וּבִשְׁעָרֶיךָ. Ukhtavtám al mezuzót beitékha uvish'arékha And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

6:16 לֹא תְנַסּוּ אֶת־יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם כַּאֲשֶׁר נִסִּיתֶם בַּמַּסָּה. Lo tenasú et Adonay Elohekhém ka'asher nisitém baMasá You shall not tempt the LORD your God as you tempted Him at Massah.
6:17 שָׁמוֹר תִּשְׁמְרוּן אֶת־מִצְוֺת יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם וְעֵדֹתָיו וְחֻקָּיו אֲשֶׁר צִוָּךְ. Shamór tishmerún et mitzvót Adonay Elohekhém ve'edotáv vekhukáv asher tzivkhá You shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, His testimonies, and His statutes which He has commanded you.

6:19 לַהֲדֹף אֶת־כָּל־אֹיְבֶיךָ מִפָּנֶיךָ כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבֶּר יְהוָה. Lahadóf et kol oyvékha mipanékha ka'asher dibér Adonay to cast out all your enemies from before you, as the LORD has spoken.
6:20 כִּי־יִשְׁאָלְךָ בִנְךָ מָחָר לֵאמֹר מָה הָעֵדֹת וְהַחֻקִּים וְהַמִּשְׁפָּטִים אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ אֶתְכֶם. 6:21 וְאָמַרְתָּ לְבִנְךָ עֲבָדִים הָיִינוּ לְפַרְעֹה בְּמִצְרָיִם וַיּוֹצִיאֵנוּ יְהוָה מִמִּצְרַיִם בְּיָד חֲזָקָה. Ve'amárta levinkhá avadím hayínu leFar'ó beMitzráyim vayotzi'énu Adonay miMitzráyim beyád khazaká then you shall say to your son: We were slaves of Pharaoh in Egypt, and the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand;
6:22 וַיִּתֵּן יְהוָה אוֹתֹת וּמֹפְתִים גְּדֹלִים וְרָעִים בְּמִצְרַיִם בְּפַרְעֹה וּבְכָל־בֵּיתוֹ לְעֵינֵינוּ. 6:25 וּצְדָקָה תִּהְיֶה־לָּנוּ כִּי־נִשְׁמֹר לַעֲשׂוֹת אֶת־כָּל־הַמִּצְוָה הַזֹּאת לִפְנֵי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּנוּ. 7:3 וְלֹא תִתְחַתֵּן בָּם בִּתְּךָ לֹא־תִתֵּן לִבְנוֹ וּבִתּוֹ לֹא־תִקַּח לִבְנֶךָ. Veló titkhatén bam bitkhá lo titén livnó uvitó lo tikákh livnékha Nor shall you make marriages with them; you shall not give your daughter to his son, nor take his daughter for your son.
7:4 כִּי־יָסִיר אֶת־בִּנְךָ מֵאַחֲרַי וְעָבְדוּ אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים וְחָרָה אַף־יְהוָה בָּכֶם וְהִשְׁמִידְךָ מַהֵר. 7:5 כִּי־אִם־כֹּה תַעֲשׂוּ לָהֶם מִזְבְּחֹתֵיהֶם תִּתֹּצוּ וּמַצֵּבֹתָם תְּשַׁבֵּרוּ וַאֲשֵׁירֵהֶם תְּגַדֵּעוּן וּפְסִילֵיהֶם תִּשְׂרְפוּן בָּאֵשׁ. 7:6 כִּי עַם קָדוֹשׁ אַתָּה לַיהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ בְּךָ בָּחַר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ לִהְיוֹת לוֹ לְעַם סְגֻלָּה מִכֹּל הָעַמִּים אֲשֶׁר עַל־פְּנֵי הָאֲדָמָה. 7:7 לֹא מֵרֻבְּכֶם מִכָּל־הָעַמִּים חָשַׁק יְהוָה בָּכֶם וַיִּבְחַר בָּכֶם כִּי־אַתֶּם הַמְעַט מִכָּל־הָעַמִּים. Lo merubkhém mikól ha'amím khashák Adonay bakhém vayivkhár bakhém ki atém hamát mikól ha'amím The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples;
7:8 כִּי מֵאַהֲבַת יְהוָה אֶתְכֶם וּמִשָּׁמְרוּ אֶת־הַשְּׁבֻעָה אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּע לַאֲבֹתֵיכֶם הוֹצִיא יְהוָה אֶתְכֶם בְּיָד חֲזָקָה וַיִּפְדְּךָ מִבֵּית עֲבָדִים מִיַּד פַּרְעֹה מֶלֶךְ־מִצְרָיִם. 7:9 וְיָדַעְתָּ כִּי־יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ הוּא הָאֱלֹהִים הָאֵל הַנֶּאֱמָן שֹׁמֵר הַבְּרִית וְהַחֶסֶד לְאֹהֲבָיו וּלְשֹׁמְרֵי מִצְוֺתָו לְאֶלֶף דּוֹר. 7:10 וּמְשַׁלֵּם לְשֹׂנְאָיו אֶל־פָּנָיו לְהַאֲבִידוֹ לֹא יְאַחֵר לְשֹׂנְאוֹ אֶל־פָּנָיו יְשַׁלֶּם־לוֹ. Umeshalém lesone'áv el panáv leha'avidó lo ye'akhér lesone'ó el panáv yeshalém lo and He repays those who hate Him to their face, to destroy them; He will not be slack with him who hates Him, but will repay him to his face.
7:11 וְשָׁמַרְתָּ אֶת־הַמִּצְוָה וְאֶת־הַחֻקִּים וְאֶת־הַמִּשְׁפָּטִים אֲשֶׁר אָנֹכִי מְצַוְּךָ הַיּוֹם לַעֲשׂוֹתָם. Veshamárta et hamitzvá ve'et hakhukím ve'et hamishpatím asher anokhí metzavkhá hayóm la'asotám Therefore you shall keep the commandment, the statutes, and the ordinances which I command you today, to do them.

40:1 נַחֲמוּ נַחֲמוּ עַמִּי יֹאמַר אֱלֹהֵיכֶם. Nakhamú nakhamú amí yomár Elohekhém Comfort, comfort My people, says your God.
40:2 דַּבְּרוּ עַל־לֵב יְרוּשָׁלִַם וְקִרְאוּ אֵלֶיהָ כִּי מָלְאָה צְבָאָהּ כִּי נִרְצָה עֲוֺנָהּ כִּי לָקְחָה מִיַּד יְהוָה כִּפְלַיִם בְּכָל־חַטֹּאתֶיהָ. Daberú al lev Yerushaláyim vekir'ú eléha ki mal'á tzevaá ki nirtzá avonáh ki lakekhá miyád Adonay kiflayim bekhol khatoteha Speak to the heart of Jerusalem, and cry to her, that her struggle is over, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received from the hand of the LORD double for all her sins.
40:3 קוֹל קוֹרֵא בַּמִּדְבָּר פַּנּוּ דֶּרֶךְ יְהוָה יַשְּׁרוּ בָּעֲרָבָה מְסִלָּה לֵאלֹהֵינוּ. Kol koré bamidbár panú dérekh Adonay yasherú ba'aravá mesilá lelohénu A voice cries: In the wilderness prepare the way of the LORD; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
40:4 כָּל־גֶּיא יִנָּשֵׂא וְכָל־הַר וְגִבְעָה יִשְׁפָּלוּ וְהָיָה הֶעָקֹב לְמִישׁוֹר וְהָרְכָסִים לְבִקְעָה. Kol géy yinasé vekhol har vegivá yishpálu vehayá he'akóv lemishór veharekhasím levikeá Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill made low; the crooked places shall be made straight, and the rough places smooth.
40:5 וְנִגְלָה כְּבוֹד יְהוָה וְרָאוּ כָל־בָּשָׂר יַחְדָּו כִּי פִּי יְהוָה דִּבֵּר. Venigla kevod Adonay vera'ú khol basár yakhdáv ki pi Adonay dibér And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.
40:6 קוֹל אֹמֵר קְרָא וְאָמַר מָה אֶקְרָא כָּל־הַבָּשָׂר חָצִיר וְכָל־חַסְדּוֹ כְּצִיץ הַשָּׂדֶה. Kol omér kerá ve'amár ma ekrá kol habasár khatzír vekhol khasdó ketzítz hasadé A voice said: Cry out. And I said: What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all its glory like the flower of the field.
40:7 יָבֵשׁ חָצִיר נָבֵל צִיץ כִּי רוּחַ יְהוָה נָשְׁבָה בּוֹ אָכֵן חָצִיר הָעָם. Yavésh khatzír navél tzitz ki rúakh Adonay nashvá bo akhén khatzír ha'ám The grass withers, the flower fades, because the breath of the LORD blows upon it; surely the people is grass.
40:8 יָבֵשׁ חָצִיר נָבֵל צִיץ וּדְבַר־אֱלֹהֵינוּ יָקוּם לְעוֹלָם. Yavésh khatzír navél tzitz udvár Elohénu yakúm le'olám The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.
40:9 עַל הַר־גָּבֹהַ עֲלִי־לָךְ מְבַשֶּׂרֶת צִיּוֹן הָרִימִי בַכֹּחַ קוֹלֵךְ מְבַשֶּׂרֶת יְרוּשָׁלִָם הָרִימִי אַל־תִּירָאִי אִמְרִי לְעָרֵי יְהוּדָה הִנֵּה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם. Al har gavóha alí lakh mevaséret Tzión harími vakóakh kolékh mevaséret Yerushaláyim harími al tira'í imrí le'aré Yehudá hine Elohekhém O Zion, you who bring good tidings, get up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, you who bring good tidings, lift up your voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say to the cities of Judah: Behold your God!
40:10 הִנֵּה אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה בְּחָזָק יָבוֹא וּזְרֹעוֹ מֹשְׁלָה לוֹ הִנֵּה שְׂכָרוֹ אִתּוֹ וּפְעֻלָּתוֹ לְפָנָיו. Hine Adonay Elohim bekhazák yavó uzroó moshlá lo hine sekharó itó ufe'ulató lefanáv Behold, the Lord GOD shall come with a strong hand, and His arm shall rule for Him; behold, His reward is with Him, and His work before Him.
40:11 כְּרֹעֶה עֶדְרוֹ יִרְעֶה בִּזְרֹעוֹ יְקַבֵּץ טְלָאִים וּבְחֵיקוֹ יִשָּׂא עָלוֹת יְנַהֵל. Kero'é edró yiré bizroó yekabétz telaím uvekheikó yisá alót yenahél He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom, and gently lead those who are with young.
40:12 מִי־מָדַד בְּשָׁעֳלוֹ מַיִם וְשָׁמַיִם בַּזֶּרֶת תִּכֵּן וְכָל בַּשָּׁלִשׁ עֲפַר הָאָרֶץ וְשָׁקַל בַּפֶּלֶס הָרִים וּגְבָעוֹת בְּמֹאזְנָיִם. Mi madád besho'aló máyim veshamáyim bazéret tikén vekhol bashalísh afár ha'áretz veshakál bapéles harím ugva'ót bemoznáyim Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, and measured heaven with a span, and calculated the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance?
40:13 מִי־תִכֵּן אֶת־רוּחַ יְהוָה וְאִישׁ עֲצָתוֹ יוֹדִיעֶנּוּ. Mi tikén et rúakh Adonay ve'ísh atzató yodi'énu Who has directed the Spirit of the LORD, or as His counselor has taught Him?
40:14 אֶת־מִי נוֹעָץ וַיְבִינֵהוּ וַיְלַמְּדֵהוּ בְּאֹרַח מִשְׁפָּט וַיְלַמְּדֵהוּ דַעַת וְדֶרֶךְ תְּבוּנוֹת יוֹדִיעֶנּוּ. Et mi no'átz vayvinéhu vayelamdéhu be'órakh mishpát vayelamdéhu dá'at vedérekh tevunót yodi'énu With whom did He take counsel, and who instructed Him, and taught Him in the path of justice, and taught Him knowledge, and showed Him the way of understanding?
40:15 הֵן גּוֹיִם כְּמַר מִדְּלִי וּכְשַׁחַק מֹאזְנַיִם נֶחְשָׁבוּ הֵן אִיִּים כַּדַּק יִטּוֹל. Hen goyím kemár midlí ukheshákhak moznáyim nekhshávu hen iyím kadák yitól Behold, the nations are as a drop in a bucket, and are counted as the small dust on the scales; behold, He lifts up the isles as a very little thing.
40:16 וּלְבָנוֹן אֵין דֵּי בָּעֵר וְחַיָּתוֹ אֵין דֵּי עוֹלָה. Ulevanón eyn day ba'ér vekhayató eyn day olá And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor its animals sufficient for a burnt offering.
40:17 כָּל־הַגּוֹיִם כְּאַיִן נֶגְדּוֹ מֵאֶפֶס וָתֹהוּ נֶחְשְׁבוּ־לוֹ. Kol hagoyím ke'áyin negdó me'éfes vatóhu nekhshevú lo All the nations before Him are as nothing, and they are counted by Him less than nothing and worthless.
40:18 וְאֶל־מִי תְּדַמְּיוּן אֵל וּמַה־דְּמוּת תַּעַרְכוּ לוֹ. Ve'el mi tedamyún El uma demút ta'archú lo To whom then will you liken God, or what likeness will you compare to Him?
40:19 הַפֶּסֶל נָסַךְ חָרָשׁ וְצֹרֵף בַּזָּהָב יְרַקְּעֶנּוּ וּרְתֻקוֹת כֶּסֶף צוֹרֵף. Hapésel nasákh kharásh vetzoréf bazaháv yeraken vurtukót késef tzoréf The craftsman casts an idol, and the goldsmith overspreads it with gold, and the silversmith casts silver chains for it.
40:20 הַמְסֻכָּן תְּרוּמָה עֵץ לֹא־יִרְקַב יִבְחָר חָרָשׁ חָכָם יְבַקֶּשׁ־לוֹ לְהָכִין פֶּסֶל לֹא יִמּוֹט. Hamsukán terumá etz lo yirkáv yivkhár kharásh khakhám yevakésh lo lehakhín pésel lo yimót He who is too impoverished for such an offering chooses a tree that will not rot; he seeks a skillful craftsman to prepare a carved image that will not totter.
40:21 הֲלוֹא תֵדְעוּ הֲלוֹא תִשְׁמָעוּ הֲלוֹא הֻגַּד מֵרֹאשׁ לָכֶם הֲלוֹא הֲבִינֹתֶם מוֹסְדוֹת הָאָרֶץ. Halo ted'ú halo tishmá'u halo hugád merósh lakhém halo havinótem mosdót ha'áretz Have you not known? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the foundations of the earth?
40:22 הַיֹּשֵׁב עַל־חוּג הָאָרֶץ וְיֹשְׁבֶיהָ כַּחֲגָבִים הַנּוֹטֶה כַדֹּק שָׁמַיִם וַיִּמְתָּחֵם כָּאֹהֶל לָשָׁבֶת. Hayoshév al khug ha'áretz veyoshevéha kakhagavím hanoté khadók shamáyim vayimtakhém ka'óhel lashávet It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in;
40:23 הַנּוֹתֵן רוֹזְנִים לְאָיִן שֹׁפְטֵי אֶרֶץ כַּתֹּהוּ עָשָׂה. Hanotén roznim le'áyin shoftéy éretz katóhu asá who brings the princes to nothing, and makes the judges of the earth as vanity.
40:24 אַף בַּל־נִטָּעוּ אַף בַּל־זֹרָעוּ אַף בַּל־שֹׁרֵשׁ בָּאָרֶץ גִּזְעָם וְגַם־נָשַׁף בָּהֶם וַיִּבָשׁוּ וּסְעָרָה כַּקַּשׁ תִּשָּׂאֵם. Af bal nitá'u af bal zoráu af bal shorésh ba'áretz gizám vegam nasháf bahém vayibáshu us'ará kakásh tisaém Scarcely shall they be planted, scarcely shall they be sown, scarcely shall their stock take root in the earth, when He will also blow on them, and they will wither, and the whirlwind will take them away like stubble.
40:25 וְאֶל־מִי תְדַמְּיוּנִי וְאֶשְׁוֶה יֹאמַר קָדוֹשׁ. Ve'el mi tedamyúni ve'eshvé yomár Kadósh To whom then will you liken Me, that I should be equal to him? says the Holy One.
40:26 שְׂאוּ־מָרוֹם עֵינֵיכֶם וּרְאוּ מִי־בָרָא אֵלֶּה הַמּוֹצִיא בְמִסְפָּר צְבָאָם לְכֻלָּם בְּשֵׁם יִקְרָא מֵרֹב אוֹנִים וְאַמִּיץ כֹּחַ אִישׁ לֹא נֶעְדָּר. Se'ú marom eineikhém ur'ú mi bará éle hamotzí vemispár tzevaám lekhulám beshém yikrá merov onim ve'amítz kóakh ish lo nedár Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these things, who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, by the greatness of His might and the strength of His power; not one is missing.
