21:1
וְאֵלֶּה הַמִּשְׁפָּטִים אֲשֶׁר תָּשִׂים לִפְנֵיהֶם׃
Ve-élle ha-mishpatím asher tasím lifneihem.
And these are the ordinances that you shall place before them.
21:2
כִּי תִקְנֶה עֶבֶד עִבְרִי שֵׁשׁ שָׁנִים יַעֲבֹד וּבַשְּׁבִיעִת יֵצֵא לַחָפְשִׁי חִנָּם׃
Ki tikné éved ivrí; shésh shaním ya’avód, u-va-shevi’ít yetzé la-jofshí jinám.
If you acquire a Hebrew servant, he shall serve six years; in the seventh he shall go free, without payment.
21:3
אִם־בְּגַפּוֹ יָבֹא בְּגַפּוֹ יֵצֵא אִם־בַּעַל אִשָּׁה הוּא וְיָצְאָה אִשְׁתּוֹ עִמּוֹ׃
Im be-gappó yavó, be-gappó yetzé; im ba’al ishá hu, ve-yatz’á ishtó immó.
If he came alone, he shall leave alone; if he is married, then his wife shall leave with him.
21:4
אִם־אֲדֹנָיו יִתֶּן־לוֹ אִשָּׁה וְיָלְדָה־לוֹ בָנִים אוֹ בָנוֹת הָאִשָּׁה וִילָדֶיהָ תִּהְיֶה לַאדֹנֶיהָ וְהוּא יֵצֵא בְגַפּוֹ׃
Im adonáv yittén lo ishá, ve-yaldá lo baním o banót; ha-ishá vi-yladéha tihyé la-adonéha, ve-hu yetzé be-gappó.
If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the woman and her children shall belong to her master, and he shall go out alone.
21:5
וְאִם־אָמֹר יֹאמַר הָעֶבֶד אָהַבְתִּי אֶת־אֲדֹנִי אֶת־אִשְׁתִּי וְאֶת־בָּנַי לֹא אֵצֵא חָפְשִׁי׃
Ve-im amór yomár ha-éved: ahávtí et-adoní, et-ishtí ve-et-banái; lo étzé jofshí.
But if the servant explicitly says, “I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go free,”
21:6
וְהִגִּישׁוֹ אֲדֹנָיו אֶל־הָאֱלֹהִים וְהִגִּישׁוֹ אֶל־הַדֶּלֶת אוֹ אֶל־הַמְּזוּזָה וְרָצַע אֲדֹנָיו אֶת־אָזְנוֹ בַּמַּרְצֵעַ וַעֲבָדוֹ לְעֹלָם׃
Ve-higishó adonáv el-ha-Elohím; ve-higishó el-ha-délet o el-ha-mezuzá; ve-ratzá adonáv et-oznó ba-martze’a, va-avadó le-olám.
Then his master shall bring him before the judges, bring him to the door or the doorpost, and his master shall pierce his ear with an awl; and he shall serve him forever.
21:7
וְכִי־יִמְכֹּר אִישׁ אֶת־בִּתּוֹ לְאָמָה לֹא תֵצֵא כְּצֵאת הָעֲבָדִים׃
Ve-ji yimkór ish et-bittó le-amá; lo tetzé ke-tzét ha-avadím.
If a man sells his daughter as a maidservant, she shall not go out as the male servants do.
21:8
אִם־רָעָה בְּעֵינֵי אֲדֹנֶיהָ אֲשֶׁר־לוֹ יְעָדָהּ וְהֶפְדָּהּ לְעַם נָכְרִי לֹא־יִמְשֹׁל לְמָכְרָהּ בְּבִגְדוֹ־בָהּ׃
Im ra’á be-einé adonéha asher lo ye’adáh, ve-hefdáh; le-am noj’rí lo yimshól le-mokráh, be-vigdó bah.
If she is displeasing in the eyes of her master who designated her for himself, he shall let her be redeemed; he has no authority to sell her to a foreign people, having dealt deceitfully with her.
21:9
וְאִם־לִבְנוֹ יְעָדֶנָּה כְּמִשְׁפַּט הַבָּנוֹת יַעֲשֶׂה־לָּהּ׃
Ve-im livnó ye’adenná, ke-mishpát ha-banót ya’asé-láh.
If he designates her for his son, he shall treat her according to the law of daughters.
21:10
אִם־אַחֶרֶת יִקַּח־לוֹ שְׁאֵרָהּ כְּסוּתָהּ וְעֹנָתָהּ לֹא יִגְרָע׃
Im ajéret yikkáj lo, she’eráh, kesutáh ve-onatáh lo yigrá.
If he takes another wife, he shall not diminish her food, her clothing, or her marital rights.
21:11
וְאִם־שְׁלָשׁ־אֵלֶּה לֹא יַעֲשֶׂה לָהּ וְיָצְאָה חִנָּם אֵין כָּסֶף׃
Ve-im shalósh élleh lo ya’asé láh, ve-yatz’á jinám, ein kásef.
If he does not do these three for her, then she shall go out free, without payment.
21:12
מַכֵּה אִישׁ וָמֵת מוֹת יוּמָת׃
Makké ish va-met, mot yumát.
One who strikes a man so that he dies shall surely be put to death.
21:13
וַאֲשֶׁר לֹא צָדָה וְהָאֱלֹהִים אִנָּה לְיָדוֹ וְשַׂמְתִּי לְךָ מָקוֹם אֲשֶׁר יָנוּס שָׁמָּה׃
Va-asher lo tzadá, ve-ha-Elohím inná le-yadó; ve-samtí lejá makóm asher yanús shámmah.
But one who did not lie in wait, but Elohim caused it to happen, I will appoint for you a place to which he may flee.
21:14
וְכִי־יָזִד אִישׁ עַל־רֵעֵהוּ לְהָרְגוֹ בְעָרְמָה מֵעִם מִזְבְּחִי תִּקָּחֶנּוּ לָמוּת׃
Ve-ji yazíd ish al-re’éhu le-horgó ve-armáh; me-im mizbej’í tikkajénnu la-mút.
If a man schemes against his fellow to kill him with deceit, you shall take him even from My altar, to die.
21:15
וּמַכֵּה אָבִיו וְאִמּוֹ מוֹת יוּמָת׃
U-makké avív ve-immó, mot yumát.
One who strikes his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.
21:16
וְגֹנֵב אִישׁ וּמְכָרוֹ וְנִמְצָא בְיָדוֹ מוֹת יוּמָת׃
Ve-gonév ish u-mejaró, ve-nimtza be-yadó; mot yumát.
One who kidnaps a person, whether he sells him or he is found in his possession, shall surely be put to death.
21:17
וּמְקַלֵּל אָבִיו וְאִמּוֹ מוֹת יוּמָת׃
U-mekallél avív ve-immó, mot yumát.
One who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death.
21:18
וְכִי־יְרִיבֻן אֲנָשִׁים וְהִכָּה־אִישׁ אֶת־רֵעֵהוּ בְּאֶבֶן אוֹ בְאֶגְרֹף וְלֹא יָמוּת וְנָפַל לְמִשְׁכָּב׃
Ve-ji yerivún anashím, ve-hikká ish et-re’éhu be-éven o ve-egróf; ve-lo yamút, ve-nafál le-mishkáv.
If men quarrel and one strikes the other with a stone or with a fist, and he does not die but is confined to bed,
21:19
אִם־יָקוּם וְהִתְהַלֵּךְ בַּחוּץ עַל־מִשְׁעַנְתּוֹ וְנִקָּה הַמַּכֶּה רַק שִׁבְתּוֹ יִתֵּן וְרַפֹּא יְרַפֵּא׃
Im yakúm ve-hit’haléj ba-jútz al mish’antó, ve-nikká ha-makké; rak shivtó yittén, ve-rappó yerappé.
If he rises and walks outside with his staff, the one who struck him shall be acquitted; only he shall pay for the loss of his time and shall surely provide for his healing.

21:20
וְכִי־יַכֶּה אִישׁ אֶת־עַבְדּוֹ אוֹ אֶת־אֲמָתוֹ בַּשֵּׁבֶט וּמֵת תַּחַת יָדוֹ נָקֹם יִנָּקֵם׃
Ve-ji yakéh ish et-avdó o et-amató ba-shévet, u-met taját yadó; nakóm yinnaqém.
If a man strikes his servant or his maidservant with a rod and he dies under his hand, he shall surely be punished.
21:21
אַךְ אִם־יוֹם אוֹ יֹמַיִם יַעֲמֹד לֹא יֻקָּם כִּי כַסְפּוֹ הוּא׃
Aj im-yóm o yomáyim ya’amód, lo yukám, ki jaspó hu.
However, if he survives a day or two, he shall not be punished, for he is his property.
21:22
וְכִי־יִנָּצוּ אֲנָשִׁים וְנָגְפוּ אִשָּׁה הָרָה וְיָצְאוּ יְלָדֶיהָ וְלֹא יִהְיֶה אָסוֹן עָנוֹשׁ יֵעָנֵשׁ כַּאֲשֶׁר יָשִׁית עָלָיו בַּעַל הָאִשָּׁה וְנָתַן בִּפְלִלִים׃
Ve-ji yinnatzú anashím ve-nagfú ishá haráh, ve-yatz’ú yeladéha, ve-lo yihyé asón…
If men quarrel and strike a pregnant woman so that her children come out, but no harm follows, he shall surely be fined, as the woman’s husband imposes upon him, and he shall pay as the judges determine.
21:23
וְאִם־אָסוֹן יִהְיֶה וְנָתַתָּה נֶפֶשׁ תַּחַת נָפֶשׁ׃
Ve-im asón yihyé, ve-natátah néfesh taját náfesh.
But if harm follows, then you shall give life for life,
21:24
עַיִן תַּחַת עַיִן שֵׁן תַּחַת שֵׁן יָד תַּחַת יָד רֶגֶל תַּחַת רָגֶל׃
Áyin taját áyin, shén taját shén, yád taját yád, réguel taját rágel.
eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
21:25
כְּוִיָּה תַּחַת כְּוִיָּה פֶּצַע תַּחַת פָּצַע חַבּוּרָה תַּחַת חַבּוּרָה׃
Keviyá taját keviyá, pétsa taját pátsa, jaburá taját jaburá.
burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.
21:26
וְכִי־יַכֶּה אִישׁ אֶת־עֵין עַבְדּוֹ אוֹ אֶת־עֵין אֲמָתוֹ וְשִׁחֲתָהּ לַחָפְשִׁי יְשַׁלְּחֶנּוּ תַּחַת עֵינוֹ׃
Ve-ji yakéh ish et-én avdó o et-én amató ve-shijatáh; la-jofshí yeshalljénnu taját éno.
If a man strikes the eye of his servant or maidservant and destroys it, he shall let him go free for the sake of his eye.
21:27
וְאִם־שֵׁן עַבְדּוֹ אוֹ שֵׁן אֲמָתוֹ יַפִּיל לַחָפְשִׁי יְשַׁלְּחֶנּוּ תַּחַת שִׁנּוֹ׃
Ve-im shén avdó o shén amató yappíl; la-jofshí yeshalljénnu taját shinnó.
If he knocks out the tooth of his servant or maidservant, he shall let him go free for the sake of his tooth.
21:28
וְכִי־יִגַּח שׁוֹר אֶת־אִישׁ אוֹ אֶת־אִשָּׁה וָמֵת סָקוֹל יִסָּקֵל הַשּׁוֹר וְלֹא יֵאָכֵל בְּשָׂרוֹ וּבַעַל הַשּׁוֹר נָקִי׃
Ve-ji yigáj shór et-ish o et-ishá va-met; sakól yissakél ha-shór…
If an ox gores a man or a woman to death, the ox shall surely be stoned and its flesh shall not be eaten, but the owner of the ox shall be innocent.
22:1
כִּי יִגְנֹב אִישׁ שׁוֹר אוֹ־שֶׂה וּטְבָחוֹ אוֹ מְכָרוֹ חֲמִשָּׁה בָקָר יְשַׁלֵּם תַּחַת הַשּׁוֹר וְאַרְבַּע־צֹאן תַּחַת הַשֶּׂה׃
Ki yignóv ish shór o-sé…
If a man steals an ox or a sheep and slaughters it or sells it, he shall pay five cattle for the ox and four sheep for the sheep.
22:2
אִם־בַּמַּחְתֶּרֶת יִמָּצֵא הַגַּנָּב וְהֻכָּה וָמֵת אֵין לוֹ דָּמִים׃
Im ba-majtéret yimmatzé ha-gannáv…
If a thief is found breaking in and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no bloodguilt for him.
22:3
אִם־זָרְחָה הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ עָלָיו דָּמִים לוֹ שַׁלֵּם יְשַׁלֵּם אִם־אֵין לוֹ וְנִמְכַּר בִּגְנֵבָתוֹ׃
Im zarjá ha-shémesh aláv…
If the sun has risen upon him, there shall be bloodguilt; he shall surely pay. If he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

אִם־הִמָּצֵא תִמָּצֵא בְיָדוֹ הַגְּנֵבָה מִשּׁוֹר עַד־חֲמוֹר עַד־שֶׂה חַיִּים שְׁנַיִם יְשַׁלֵּם׃
Im himmatzé timmatzé be-yadó ha-gnevá, mi-shór ad-jamór ad-sé jayím; shnáyim yeshallém.
If the stolen property is indeed found in his hand, from ox to donkey to sheep, alive, he shall pay double.
22:5
כִּי יַבְעֶר־אִישׁ שָׂדֶה אוֹ־כֶרֶם וְשִׁלַּח אֶת־בְּעִירֹה וּבִעֵר בִּשְׂדֵה אַחֵר מֵיטַב שָׂדֵהוּ וּמֵיטַב כַּרְמוֹ יְשַׁלֵּם׃
Ki yav’ér ish sadé o-kérem, ve-shilláj et-be’iró, u-vi’ér bi-sdé ajér; meitáv sadéhu u-meitáv karmó yeshallém.
If a man lets his livestock loose and it grazes in another’s field, he shall make restitution from the best of his field and the best of his vineyard.
22:6
כִּי־תֵצֵא אֵשׁ וּמָצְאָה קוֹצִים וְנֶאֱכַל גָּדִישׁ אוֹ הַקָּמָה אוֹ הַשָּׂדֶה שַׁלֵּם יְשַׁלֵּם הַמַּבְעִר אֶת־הַבְּעֵרָה׃
Ki tetzé ésh u-matz’á kotzím, ve-ne’ejál gadísh o ha-kamá o ha-sadé; shallém yeshallém ha-mav’ír et-ha-be’erá.
If a fire breaks out and spreads among thorns so that a stack, standing grain, or field is consumed, the one who kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.
22:7
כִּי יִתֵּן אִישׁ אֶל־רֵעֵהוּ כֶּסֶף אוֹ־כֵלִים לִשְׁמֹר וְגֻנַּב מִבֵּית הָאִישׁ אִם־יִמָּצֵא הַגַּנָּב יְשַׁלֵּם שְׁנָיִם׃
Ki yittén ish el-re’éhu késef o-kelím lishmór, ve-gunnáv mi-béit ha-ish; im yimmatzé ha-gannáv, yeshallém shnáyim.
If a man gives his neighbor money or goods for safekeeping and it is stolen from the man’s house—if the thief is found, he shall pay double.
22:8
אִם־לֹא יִמָּצֵא הַגַּנָּב וְנִקְרַב בַּעַל־הַבַּיִת אֶל־הָאֱלֹהִים אִם־לֹא שָׁלַח יָדוֹ בִּמְלֶאכֶת רֵעֵהוּ׃
Im lo yimmatzé ha-gannáv, ve-nikráv ba’al ha-báyit el-ha-Elohím, im-lo shaláj yadó bi-meléjet re’éhu.
If the thief is not found, the owner of the house shall approach the judges to determine whether he laid his hand on his neighbor’s property.
22:9
עַל־כָּל־דְּבַר־פֶּשַׁע עַל־שׁוֹר עַל־חֲמוֹר עַל־שֶׂה עַל־שַׂלְמָה עַל־כָּל־אֲבֵדָה אֲשֶׁר יֹאמַר כִּי־הוּא זֶה עַד הָאֱלֹהִים יָבֹא דְּבַר־שְׁנֵיהֶם אֲשֶׁר יַרְשִׁיעֻן אֱלֹהִים יְשַׁלֵּם שְׁנַיִם לְרֵעֵהוּ׃
Al kol devar pésha… ad ha-Elohím yavó devar shnéihem…
For any case of wrongdoing—concerning an ox, a donkey, a sheep, a garment, or any lost item—when one claims, “This is it,” the case of both parties shall come before the judges; whomever the judges declare guilty shall pay double to his neighbor.
22:10
כִּי יִתֵּן אִישׁ אֶל־רֵעֵהוּ חֲמוֹר אוֹ־שׁוֹר אוֹ־שֶׂה וְכָל־בְּהֵמָה לִשְׁמֹר וּמֵת אוֹ־נִשְׁבַּר אוֹ־נִשְׁבָּה אֵין רֹאֶה׃
Ki yittén ish el-re’éhu jamór o-shór o-sé ve-kol behémá lishmór; u-met o-nishbár o-nishbá, ein ro’é.
If a man gives his neighbor a donkey, an ox, a sheep, or any animal for safekeeping, and it dies, is injured, or is taken away with no one seeing it,
22:11
שְׁבֻעַת יְהוָה תִּהְיֶה בֵּין שְׁנֵיהֶם אִם־לֹא שָׁלַח יָדוֹ בִּמְלֶאכֶת רֵעֵהוּ וְלָקַח בְּעָלָיו וְלֹא יְשַׁלֵּם׃
Shevu’at Hashem tihyé bein sheneihem im lo shalaj yado bi-melejet re’ehu ve-lakaj be’alav ve-lo yeshaleim
an oath before Adonai shall be between them both, that he did not lay his hand on his neighbor’s property; the owner shall accept it, and he shall not pay.
22:12
וְאִם־גָּנֹב יִגָּנֵב מֵעִמּוֹ שַׁלֵּם יְשַׁלֵּם לִבְעָלָיו׃
Ve-im ganóv yiggánév me-immó, shallém yeshallém li-v’aláv.
But if it is stolen from him, he shall surely make restitution to its owner.
22:13
אִם־טָרֹף יִטָּרֵף יְבִאֵהוּ עֵד הַטְּרֵפָה לֹא יְשַׁלֵּם׃
Im taróf yittaréf, yevíéhu éd ha-terefá; lo yeshallém.
If it is torn by a beast, he shall bring it as evidence; he shall not pay for what was torn.
22:14
וְכִי יִשְׁאַל אִישׁ מֵעִם רֵעֵהוּ וְנִשְׁבַּר אוֹ־מֵת בְּעָלָיו אֵין עִמּוֹ שַׁלֵּם יְשַׁלֵּם׃
Ve-ji yish’ál ish me-im re’éhu, ve-nishbár o-met; be’aláv ein immó, shallém yeshallém.
If a man borrows something from his neighbor and it is injured or dies while its owner is not with it, he shall surely pay.
22:15
אִם־בְּעָלָיו עִמּוֹ לֹא יְשַׁלֵּם אִם־שָׂכִיר הוּא בָּא בִּשְׂכָרוֹ׃
Im be’aláv immó, lo yeshallém; im sájír hu, bá bi-sjaró.
If its owner is with it, he shall not pay; if it was hired, it came with its hire.
22:16
וְכִי יְפַתֶּה אִישׁ בְּתוּלָה אֲשֶׁר לֹא אֹרָשָׂה וְשָׁכַב עִמָּהּ מָהֹר יִמְהָרֶנָּה לּוֹ לְאִשָּׁה׃
Ve-ji yefatté ish betulá asher lo orasá, ve-shajáv immáh; mahór yimharénná lo le-ishá.
If a man seduces a virgin who is not betrothed and lies with her, he shall surely pay the bride-price for her to be his wife.
22:17
אִם־מָאֵן יְמָאֵן אָבִיהָ לְתִתָּהּ לוֹ כֶּסֶף יִשְׁקֹל כְּמֹהַר הַבְּתוּלֹת׃
Im ma’én yema’én aviha letittáh lo, késef yishkól ke-móhar ha-betulót.
If her father absolutely refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money equal to the bride-price for virgins.
22:18
מְכַשֵּׁפָה לֹא תְחַיֶּה׃
Mejashéfá lo tejayyé.
You shall not allow a sorceress to live.
22:19
כָּל־שֹׁכֵב עִם־בְּהֵמָה מוֹת יוּמָת׃
Kol shojév im-behemá, mot yumát.
Whoever lies with an animal shall surely be put to death.
22:20
זֹבֵחַ לָאֱלֹהִים יָחֳרָם בִּלְתִּי לַיהוָה לְבַדּוֹ׃
Zovéaj la-Elohím yajarám, bilti la-Adonái levado.
One who sacrifices to any god other than Adonai alone shall be utterly destroyed.
22:21
וְגֵר לֹא־תוֹנֶה וְלֹא תִלְחָצֶנּוּ כִּי־גֵרִים הֱיִיתֶם בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם׃
Ve-gér lo toné ve-lo tiljatzénnu, ki gerím heyítem be-éretz Mitzráyim.
You shall not oppress a stranger nor mistreat him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.
22:22
כָּל־אַלְמָנָה וְיָתוֹם לֹא תְעַנּוּן׃
Kol almaná ve-yatóom lo te’annún.
You shall not afflict any widow or orphan.
22:23
אִם־עַנֵּה תְעַנֶּה אֹתוֹ כִּי אִם־צָעֹק יִצְעַק אֵלַי שָׁמֹעַ אֶשְׁמַע צַעֲקָתוֹ׃
Im anné te’anné otó… shamó’a eshma tza’akató.
If you do afflict him and he cries out to Me, I will surely hear his cry.
22:24
וְחָרָה אַפִּי וְהָרַגְתִּי אֶתְכֶם בֶּחָרֶב וְהָיוּ נְשֵׁיכֶם אַלְמָנוֹת וּבְנֵיכֶם יְתוֹמִים׃
Ve-jará apí, ve-haragtí etjém be-jérev; ve-hayú neshéijem almanót u-venéijem yetomím.
My anger will burn and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children orphans.
22:25
אִם־כֶּסֶף תַּלְוֶה אֶת־עַמִּי אֶת־הֶעָנִי עִמָּךְ לֹא־תִהְיֶה לוֹ כְּנֹשֶׁה לֹא־תְשִׂימוּן עָלָיו נֶשֶׁךְ׃
Im-késef talvé et-amí, et he-aní imáj; lo-tihyé lo ke-noshé, lo-tesimún aláv néshaj.
If you lend money to My people, to the poor among you, you shall not be to him as a creditor; you shall not impose interest upon him.
22:26
אִם־חָבֹל תַּחְבֹּל שַׂלְמַת רֵעֶךָ עַד־בֹּא הַשֶּׁמֶשׁ תְּשִׁיבֶנּוּ לוֹ׃
Im javól tajból salmát re’éja, ad-bó ha-shémesh teshivénnu lo.
If you take your neighbor’s garment as collateral, you shall return it to him by sunset.

כִּי־הִוא כְסוּתוֹ לְבַדָּהּ הִוא שִׂמְלָתוֹ לְעוֹרוֹ בַּמֶּה יִשְׁכָּב וְהָיָה כִּי־יִצְעַק אֵלַי וְשָׁמַעְתִּי כִּי־חַנּוּן אָנִי׃
Ki hi kesutó levadoh; hi simlató le-oró; ba-méh yishkáv? ve-hayá ki yitz’ák elái, ve-shamá’ti, ki janún aní.
For that is his only covering; it is his garment for his skin—what shall he sleep in? And it shall be that when he cries out to Me, I will hear, for I am gracious.
22:28
אֱלֹהִים לֹא תְקַלֵּל וְנָשִׂיא בְעַמְּךָ לֹא תָאֹר׃
Elohím lo tekallél; ve-nasí be-amméja lo ta’ór.
You shall not curse the judges, nor curse a leader among your people.
22:29
מְלֵאָתְךָ וְדִמְעֲךָ לֹא תְאַחֵר בְּכוֹר בָּנֶיךָ תִּתֶּן־לִי׃
Melé’atjá ve-dim’achá lo te’ajér; bejór banéja tittén li.
You shall not delay offering from your fullness and from your flow; the firstborn of your sons you shall give to Me.
22:30
כֵּן תַּעֲשֶׂה לְשׁוֹרְךָ לְצֹאנֶךָ שִׁבְעַת יָמִים יִהְיֶה עִם־אִמּוֹ בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁמִינִי תִּתְּנוֹ לִי׃
Ken ta’asé le-shorjá le-tzonéja; shiv’át yamím yihyé im-immó; ba-yóm ha-sheminí tittenó li.
So shall you do with your ox and with your sheep: seven days it shall remain with its mother; on the eighth day you shall give it to Me.
22:31
וְאַנְשֵׁי־קֹדֶשׁ תִּהְיוּן לִי וּבָשָׂר בַּשָּׂדֶה טְרֵפָה לֹא תֹאכֵלוּ לַכֶּלֶב תַּשְׁלִכוּן אֹתוֹ׃
Ve-anshé kódesh tihyún li; u-vasár ba-sadé terefá lo tojélú; la-kélev tashlijún otó.
You shall be people of holiness to Me; flesh torn in the field you shall not eat—you shall throw it to the dog.
23:1
לֹא תִשָּׂא שֵׁמַע שָׁוְא אַל־תָּשֶׁת יָדְךָ עִם־רָשָׁע לִהְיֹת עֵד חָמָס׃
Lo tissá shéma sháv; al-tashét yadéja im-rashá liheyót éd jamás.
You shall not bear a false report; do not place your hand with the wicked to be a malicious witness.
23:2
לֹא־תִהְיֶה אַחֲרֵי־רַבִּים לְרָע וְלֹא־תַעֲנֶה עַל־רִב לִנְטֹת אַחֲרֵי רַבִּים לְהַטֹּת׃
Lo tihyé ajaré rabbím le-ra; ve-lo ta’ané al-rív lintót ajaré rabbím le-hattót.
You shall not follow the multitude to do evil; nor shall you testify in a dispute to incline after the multitude to pervert justice.
23:3
וְדָל לֹא תֶהְדַּר בְּרִיבוֹ׃
Ve-dál lo tehdár be-rivó.
You shall not favor a poor person in his dispute.
23:4
כִּי תִפְגַּע שׁוֹר אֹיְבְךָ אוֹ חֲמֹרוֹ תֹּעֶה הָשֵׁב תְּשִׁיבֶנּוּ לוֹ׃
Ki tifgá shór oyvéja o jamoró to’é; hashév teshivénnu lo.
If you encounter your enemy’s ox or his donkey going astray, you shall surely return it to him.
23:5
כִּי תִרְאֶה חֲמוֹר שֹׂנַאֲךָ רֹבֵץ תַּחַת מַשָּׂאוֹ וְחָדַלְתָּ מֵעֲזֹב לוֹ עָזֹב תַּעֲזֹב עִמּוֹ׃
Ki tir’é jamór son’achá rovéts taját massa’ó; ve-jadáltá me-azóv lo—azóv ta’azóv immó.
If you see the donkey of one who hates you lying under its burden, and you would refrain from helping him—you shall surely help with him.

Lo tatté mishpát evyonjá be-rivó.
You shall not pervert the justice due to your poor in his dispute.
23:7
מִדְּבַר־שֶׁקֶר תִּרְחָק וְנָקִי וְצַדִּיק אַל־תַּהֲרֹג כִּי לֹא־אַצְדִּיק רָשָׁע׃
Mi-devar shéker tirják; ve-nakí ve-tzaddík al-taharóg, ki lo atzdík rashá.
Keep far from a false matter; do not kill the innocent or the righteous, for I will not justify the wicked.
23:8
וְשֹׁחַד לֹא תִקָּח כִּי הַשֹּׁחַד יְעַוֵּר פִּקְחִים וִיסַלֵּף דִּבְרֵי צַדִּיקִים׃
Ve-shójad lo tikkáj, ki ha-shójad ye’avér pikjím ve-yesalléf divré tzaddikím.
You shall not take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the clear-sighted and perverts the words of the righteous.
23:9
וְגֵר לֹא תִלְחָץ וְאַתֶּם יְדַעְתֶּם אֶת־נֶפֶשׁ הַגֵּר כִּי־גֵרִים הֱיִיתֶם בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם׃
Ve-gér lo tiljatz; ve-atem yedá’tem et-néfesh ha-gér, ki gerím heyítem be-éretz Mitzráyim.
You shall not oppress a stranger; you know the soul of the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.
23:10
וְשֵׁשׁ שָׁנִים תִּזְרַע אֶת־אַרְצֶךָ וְאָסַפְתָּ אֶת־תְּבוּאָתָהּ׃
Ve-shésh shaním tizrá et-artzéja, ve-asáftá et-tevu’atáh.
Six years you shall sow your land and gather in its produce.
23:11
וְהַשְּׁבִיעִת תִּשְׁמְטֶנָּה וּנְטַשְׁתָּהּ וְאָכְלוּ אֶבְיֹנֵי עַמֶּךָ וְיִתְרָם תֹּאכַל חַיַּת הַשָּׂדֶה כֵּן תַּעֲשֶׂה לְכַרְמְךָ לְזֵיתֶךָ׃
Ve-ha-shevi’ít tishmeténna u-netashtáh; ve-ajlú evyonéi améja, ve-yitráam tojál jayat ha-sadé; ken ta’asé le-karméja le-zeitéja
But in the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, so that the poor of your people may eat; and what they leave, the beasts of the field may eat. So you shall do with your vineyard and your olive grove.
23:12
שֵׁשֶׁת יָמִים תַּעֲשֶׂה מַעֲשֶׂיךָ וּבַיּוֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִי תִּשְׁבֹּת לְמַעַן יָנוּחַ שׁוֹרְךָ וַחֲמֹרֶךָ וְיִנָּפֵשׁ בֶּן־אֲמָתְךָ וְהַגֵּר׃
Shéshet yamím ta’asé ma’aseija; u-va-yóm ha-shevi’í tishbót, le-ma’an yanúaj shorjá va-jamoréja, ve-yinafésh ben-amatjá ve-ha-gér.
Six days you shall do your work, but on the seventh day you shall rest, so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your maidservant and the stranger may be refreshed.
23:13
וּבְכֹל אֲשֶׁר־אָמַרְתִּי אֲלֵיכֶם תִּשָּׁמֵרוּ וְשֵׁם אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים לֹא תַזְכִּירוּ לֹא יִשָּׁמַע עַל־פִּיךָ׃
U-ve-KHól asher amártí aleijem tishaméru; ve-shem elohím ajerím lo tazkíru, lo yishamá al-píja.
In all that I have said to you, be vigilant; do not mention the name of other gods—it shall not be heard on your lips.
23:14
שָׁלֹשׁ רְגָלִים תָּחֹג לִי בַּשָּׁנָה׃
Shalósh regalim tajóg li ba-shaná.
Three pilgrimage festivals you shall celebrate for Me each year.
23:15
אֶת־חַג הַמַּצּוֹת תִּשְׁמֹר שִׁבְעַת יָמִים תֹּאכַל מַצּוֹת כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוִּיתִךָ לְמוֹעֵד חֹדֶשׁ הָאָבִיב כִּי־בוֹ יָצָאתָ מִמִּצְרָיִם וְלֹא־יֵרָאוּ פָנַי רֵיקָם׃
Et-jag ha-matzót tishmór… ki-vo yatzáta mi-Mitzráyim; ve-lo yeráu panái reikám.
You shall observe the Festival of Unleavened Bread: seven days you shall eat matzot, as I commanded you, at the appointed time in the month of Aviv; for in it you came out of Egypt, and none shall appear before Me empty-handed.
23:16
וְחַג הַקָּצִיר בִּכּוּרֵי מַעֲשֶׂיךָ אֲשֶׁר תִּזְרַע בַּשָּׂדֶה וְחַג הָאָסִף בְּצֵאת הַשָּׁנָה בְּאָסְפְּךָ אֶת־מַעֲשֶׂיךָ מִן־הַשָּׂדֶה׃
Ve-jag ha-katzír bikuréi ma’aseija… ve-jag ha-asíf betzét ha-shaná.
And the Festival of Harvest, the firstfruits of your labor which you sow in the field; and the Festival of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in your produce from the field.
23:17
שָׁלֹשׁ פְּעָמִים בַּשָּׁנָה יֵרָאֶה כָּל־זְכוּרְךָ אֶל־פְּנֵי הָאָדֹן יְהוָה׃
Shalósh pe’amím ba-shaná yera’é kol zejurjá el-penéi ha-Adón Adonái.
Three times in the year all your males shall appear before the Master, Adonai.
23:18
לֹא־תִזְבַּח עַל־חָמֵץ דַּם־זִבְחִי וְלֹא־יָלִין חֵלֶב חַגִּי עַד־בֹּקֶר׃
Lo tizbáj al-jamétz dam-zivjí; ve-lo yalín jélev jaggí ad-bóker.
You shall not offer the blood of My sacrifice with leavened bread, nor shall the fat of My festival offering remain overnight until morning.
23:19
רֵאשִׁית בִּכּוּרֵי אַדְמָתְךָ תָּבִיא בֵּית יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ לֹא־תְבַשֵּׁל גְּדִי בַּחֲלֵב אִמּוֹ׃
Re’shít bikuréi admatejá taví Beit Adonái Elohéja; lo tevashel gedí ba-jalév immó.
The first of the firstfruits of your land you shall bring to the House of Adonai your Elohim. You shall not cook a kid in its mother’s milk.

הִנֵּה אָנֹכִי שֹׁלֵחַ מַלְאָךְ לְפָנֶיךָ לִשְׁמָרְךָ בַּדָּרֶךְ וְלַהֲבִיאֲךָ אֶל־הַמָּקוֹם אֲשֶׁר הֲכִנֹתִי׃
Hinné anojí sholéaj maláj lefanéja, lishmorjá ba-dárej, ve-laha-vi’ajá el-ha-makóm asher hajanótí.
Behold, I am sending an angel before you, to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared.
23:21
הִשָּׁמֶר מִפָּנָיו וּשְׁמַע בְּקֹלוֹ אַל־תַּמֵּר בּוֹ כִּי לֹא־יִשָּׂא לְפִשְׁעֲכֶם כִּי שְׁמִי בְּקִרְבּוֹ׃
Hishamér mi-panáv u-shemá be-koló; al-tammér bo, ki lo yissá le-fish’ajém, ki shemí be-kirbó.
Beware of him and heed his voice; do not rebel against him, for he will not pardon your transgression, for My Name is within him.
23:22
כִּי אִם־שָׁמוֹעַ תִּשְׁמַע בְּקֹלוֹ וְעָשִׂיתָ כֹּל אֲשֶׁר אֲדַבֵּר וְאָיַבְתִּי אֶת־אֹיְבֶיךָ וְצַרְתִּי אֶת־צֹרְרֶיךָ׃
Ki im-shamó’a tishmá be-koló, ve-asíta kol asher adabbér; ve-ayávtí et-oyvéja, ve-tzartí et-tzoreréja.
But if you indeed listen to his voice and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.
23:23
כִּי יֵלֵךְ מַלְאָכִי לְפָנֶיךָ וֶהֱבִיאֲךָ אֶל־הָאֱמֹרִי וְהַחִתִּי וְהַפְּרִזִּי וְהַכְּנַעֲנִי הַחִוִּי וְהַיְבוּסִי וְהִכְחַדְתִּיו׃
Ki yeléj malají lefanéja, ve-hevi’ajá el-ha-Emorí ve-ha-Jittí ve-ha-Perizzí ve-ha-Kena’aní, ha-Jiví ve-ha-Yevusí; ve-hikjadtív.
For My angel will go before you and bring you to the Amorite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Canaanite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, and I will destroy them.
23:24
לֹא־תִשְׁתַּחֲוֶה לֵאלֹהֵיהֶם וְלֹא תָעָבְדֵם וְלֹא תַעֲשֶׂה כְּמַעֲשֵׂיהֶם כִּי הָרֵס תְּהָרְסֵם וְשַׁבֵּר תְּשַׁבֵּר מַצֵּבֹתֵיהֶם׃
Lo tishtajavé le-elohéhem ve-lo ta’avdém, ve-lo ta’asé ke-ma’aséhem; ki harés tehar’sém, ve-shabbér teshabbér matzevotéhem.
You shall not bow down to their gods nor serve them, nor do according to their practices; rather, you shall utterly overthrow them and completely break down their pillars.
23:25
וַעֲבַדְתֶּם אֵת יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם וּבֵרַךְ אֶת־לַחְמְךָ וְאֶת־מֵימֶיךָ וַהֲסִרֹתִי מַחֲלָה מִקִּרְבֶּךָ׃
Va-avad’tem et-Adonái Elohéjem; u-veráj et-lajméja ve-et-meiméja, va-hasirotí majalá mi-kirbéja.
You shall serve Adonai your Elohim, and He will bless your bread and your water, and I will remove sickness from among you.
23:26
לֹא־תִהְיֶה מְשַׁכֵּלָה וַעֲקָרָה בְּאַרְצֶךָ אֶת־מִסְפַּר יָמֶיךָ אֲמַלֵּא׃
Lo tihyé meshakkélah va-akarah be-artzéja; et mispár yaméja amallé.
There shall be no miscarrying or barrenness in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.
23:27
אֶת־אֵימָתִי אֲשַׁלַּח לְפָנֶיךָ וְהַמֹּתִי אֶת־כָּל־הָעָם אֲשֶׁר תָּבֹא בָּהֶם וְנָתַתִּי אֶת־כָּל־אֹיְבֶיךָ אֵלֶיךָ עֹרֶף׃
Et eimatí ashalláj lefanéja; ve-hammotí et kol ha-ám asher tavó ba-hem; ve-natattí et kol oyvéja eléja óref.
I will send My dread before you, and I will confuse all the people among whom you come, and I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you.
23:28
וְשָׁלַחְתִּי אֶת־הַצִּרְעָה לְפָנֶיךָ וְגֵרְשָׁה אֶת־הַחִוִּי אֶת־הַכְּנַעֲנִי וְאֶת־הַחִתִּי מִלְּפָנֶיךָ׃
Ve-shalaḥtí et ha-tzir’á lefanéja; ve-gershá et ha-Jiví, et ha-Kena’aní, ve-et ha-Jittí mill’fanéja.
I will send the hornet before you, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite from before you.
23:29
לֹא אֲגָרְשֶׁנּוּ מִפָּנֶיךָ בְּשָׁנָה אֶחָת פֶּן־תִּהְיֶה הָאָרֶץ שְׁמָמָה וְרַבָּה עָלֶיךָ חַיַּת הַשָּׂדֶה׃
Lo agarshenú mipanéja be-shaná eját, pen tihyé ha-áretz shemamáh, ve-rabbá aléja ḥayyát ha-sadé.
I will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate and the beasts of the field multiply against you.
23:30
מְעַט מְעַט אֲגָרְשֶׁנּוּ מִפָּנֶיךָ עַד אֲשֶׁר תִּפְרֶה וְנָחַלְתָּ אֶת־הָאָרֶץ׃
Me’at me’at agarshenú mipanéja, ad asher tifré ve-najaltá et ha-áretz.
Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you increase and inherit the land.
23:31
וְשַׁתִּי אֶת־גְּבֻלְךָ מִיַּם־סוּף וְעַד־יָם פְּלִשְׁתִּים וּמִמִּדְבָּר עַד־הַנָּהָר כִּי אֶתֵּן בְּיֶדְכֶם אֵת יֹשְׁבֵי הָאָרֶץ וְגֵרַשְׁתָּם מִפָּנֶיךָ׃
Ve-shattí et gevuljá mi-yam Suf ve-ad yam Pelishtím, u-mi-midbár ad ha-nahár; ki ettén be-yedjém et yoshvé ha-áretz, ve-gerashtám mipanéja.
I will set your borders from the Sea of Reeds to the Sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness to the River; for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out from before you.
23:32
לֹא־תִכְרֹת לָהֶם וְלֵאלֹהֵיהֶם בְּרִית׃
Lo tijrót lahem ve-le-elohéhem berít.
You shall not make a covenant with them or with their gods.
23:33
לֹא יֵשְׁבוּ בְאַרְצְךָ פֶּן־יַחֲטִיאוּ אֹתְךָ לִי כִּי תַעֲבֹד אֶת־אֱלֹהֵיהֶם כִּי־יִהְיֶה לְךָ לְמוֹקֵשׁ׃
Lo yeshvú be-artzéja, pen yajati’ú otjá li; ki ta’avód et elohéhem, ki yihyé lejá le-mokésh.
They shall not dwell in your land, lest they cause you to sin against Me; for if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you.
24:1
וְאֶל־מֹשֶׁה אָמַר עֲלֵה אֶל־יְהוָה אַתָּה וְאַהֲרֹן נָדָב וַאֲבִיהוּא וְשִׁבְעִים מִזִּקְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְהִשְׁתַּחֲוִיתֶם מֵרָחֹק׃
Ve-el Moshé amár: alé el Adonái atá ve-Aharón, Nadáv va-Avihú, ve-shiv’ím mi-zikné Yisra’él, ve-hishtajavitém merajók.
And He said to Moses: “Come up to Adonai—you, Aaron, Nadav and Avihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel—and bow yourselves from afar.”
24:2
וְנִגַּשׁ מֹשֶׁה לְבַדּוֹ אֶל־יְהוָה וְהֵם לֹא יִגָּשׁוּ וְהָעָם לֹא יַעֲלוּ עִמּוֹ׃
Ve-niggásh Moshé levado el Adonái; ve-hem lo yiggáshu, ve-ha-ám lo ya’alú immó.
Moses alone shall approach Adonai, but they shall not approach, and the people shall not go up with him.
24:3
וַיָּבֹא מֹשֶׁה וַיְסַפֵּר לָעָם אֵת כָּל־דִּבְרֵי יְהוָה וְאֵת כָּל־הַמִּשְׁפָּטִים וַיַּעַן כָּל־הָעָם קוֹל אֶחָד וַיֹּאמְרוּ כָּל־הַדְּבָרִים אֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּר יְהוָה נַעֲשֶׂה׃
Va-yavó Moshé va-yesappér la-ám et kol divré Adonái ve-et kol ha-mishpatím; va-ya’án kol ha-ám kol ejád va-yomrú: kol ha-devarím asher dibbér Adonái na’asé.
Moses came and told the people all the words of Adonai and all the ordinances; and all the people answered with one voice and said, “All the words that Adonai has spoken we will do.”
24:4
וַיִּכְתֹּב מֹשֶׁה אֵת כָּל־דִּבְרֵי יְהוָה וַיַּשְׁכֵּם בַּבֹּקֶר וַיִּבֶן מִזְבֵּחַ תַּחַת הָהָר וּשְׁתֵּים עֶשְׂרֵה מַצֵּבָה לִשְׁנֵים עָשָׂר שִׁבְטֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃
Va-yijtóv Moshé et kol divré Adonái; va-yashkém ba-bóker va-yíven mizbéaj taját ha-hár, u-shteím esré matzevá li-shnéim asár shivté Yisra’él.
Moses wrote all the words of Adonai. He arose early in the morning and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel.
24:5
וַיִּשְׁלַח אֶת־נַעֲרֵי בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיַּעֲלוּ עֹלֹת וַיִּזְבְּחוּ זְבָחִים שְׁלָמִים לַיהוָה פָּרִים׃
Va-yishláḥ et na’aréi benéi Yisra’él, va-ya’alú olót va-yizbejúl zevajím shelamím la-Adonái parím.
He sent the young men of the children of Israel, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to Adonai.
24:6
וַיִּקַּח מֹשֶׁה חֲצִי הַדָּם וַיָּשֶׂם בָּאַגָּנֹת וַחֲצִי הַדָּם זָרַק עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּחַ׃
Va-yikkáḥ Moshé jatzí ha-dám va-yássem ba-aganót; va-jatzí ha-dám zarák al ha-mizbéaj.
Moses took half of the blood and put it in basins, and half of the blood he dashed against the altar.
24:7
וַיִּקַּח סֵפֶר הַבְּרִית וַיִּקְרָא בְּאָזְנֵי הָעָם וַיֹּאמְרוּ כֹּל אֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּר יְהוָה נַעֲשֶׂה וְנִשְׁמָע׃
Va-yikkáḥ séfer ha-berít va-yikrá be-oznéi ha-ám; va-yomrú: kol asher dibbér Adonái na’asé ve-nishmá.
He took the Book of the Covenant and read it in the hearing of the people; and they said, “All that Adonai has spoken we will do and we will hear.”
24:8
וַיִּקַּח מֹשֶׁה אֶת־הַדָּם וַיִּזְרֹק עַל־הָעָם וַיֹּאמֶר הִנֵּה דַם הַבְּרִית אֲשֶׁר כָּרַת יְהוָה עִמָּכֶם עַל כָּל־הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה׃
Va-yikkáḥ Moshé et ha-dám va-yizrók al ha-ám, va-yómer: hinné dam ha-berít asher karát Adonái immájém al kol ha-devarím ha-éleh.
Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people and said, “Behold the blood of the covenant which Adonai has made with you concerning all these words.”
24:9
וַיַּעַל מֹשֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן נָדָב וַאֲבִיהוּא וְשִׁבְעִים מִזִּקְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃
Va-ya’ál Moshé ve-Aharón, Nadáv va-Avihú, ve-shiv’ím mi-zikné Yisra’él.
Then Moses went up with Aaron, Nadav and Avihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel.
24:10
וַיִּרְאוּ אֵת אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְתַחַת רַגְלָיו כְּמַעֲשֵׂה לִבְנַת הַסַּפִּיר וּכְעֶצֶם הַשָּׁמַיִם לָטֹהַר׃
Va-yir’ú et Elohéi Yisra’él; ve-taját ragláv ke-ma’asé livnát ha-sappír u-khe’étzem ha-shamáyim la-tóhar.
They saw the Elohim of Israel, and under His feet was something like a pavement of sapphire stone, like the very heavens in purity.
24:11
וְאֶל־אֲצִילֵי בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לֹא־שָׁלַח יָדוֹ וַיֶּחֱזוּ אֶת־הָאֱלֹהִים וַיֹּאכְלוּ וַיִּשְׁתּוּ׃
Ve-el atziléi benéi Yisra’él lo shaláḥ yadó; va-yejezú et ha-Elohím va-yoj’lú va-yishtú.
Yet He did not stretch out His hand against the nobles of the children of Israel; they beheld Elohim, and they ate and drank.
24:12
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל־מֹשֶׁה עֲלֵה אֵלַי הָהָרָה וֶהְיֵה־שָׁם וְאֶתְּנָה לְךָ אֶת־לֻחֹת הָאֶבֶן וְהַתּוֹרָה וְהַמִּצְוָה אֲשֶׁר כָּתַבְתִּי לְהוֹרֹתָם׃
Va-yómer Adonái el Moshé: alé elái ha-hará ve-heyé sham; ve-ett’ná lejá et lujót ha-éven ve-ha-Torá ve-ha-mitzvá asher katávtí le-horotám.
Adonai said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and be there, and I will give you the stone tablets, the Torah and the commandment which I have written to instruct them.”
24:13
וַיָּקָם מֹשֶׁה וִיהוֹשֻׁעַ מְשָׁרְתוֹ וַיַּעַל מֹשֶׁה אֶל־הַר הָאֱלֹהִים׃
Va-yákam Moshé vi-Yehoshúa meshartó; va-ya’ál Moshé el har ha-Elohím.
Moses arose with Joshua his attendant, and Moses went up to the mountain of Elohim.
24:14
וְאֶל־הַזְּקֵנִים אָמַר שְׁבוּ־לָנוּ בָזֶה עַד אֲשֶׁר־נָשׁוּב אֲלֵיכֶם וְהִנֵּה אַהֲרֹן וְחוּר עִמָּכֶם מִי־בַעַל דְּבָרִים יִגַּשׁ אֲלֵיהֶם׃
Ve-el ha-zekením amár: shvú lanu ba-zé ad asher nashúv aleijém; ve-hinné Aharón ve-Júr immájém, mi va’al devarím yiggásh aleijém.
To the elders he said, “Remain here for us until we return to you; behold, Aaron and Hur are with you—whoever has a matter, let him approach them.”
24:15
וַיַּעַל מֹשֶׁה אֶל־הָהָר וַיְכַס הֶעָנָן אֶת־הָהָר׃
Va-ya’ál Moshé el ha-hár; va-yekhas he-anán et ha-hár.
Moses went up into the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain.
24:16
וַיִּשְׁכֹּן כְּבוֹד־יְהוָה עַל־הַר סִינַי וַיְכַסֵּהוּ הֶעָנָן שֵׁשֶׁת יָמִים וַיִּקְרָא אֶל־מֹשֶׁה בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִי מִתּוֹךְ הֶעָנָן׃
Va-yishkón kevód Adonái al har Sinái; va-yekhasséhu he-anán shéshet yamím; va-yikrá el Moshé ba-yóm ha-shevi’í mitókh he-anán.
The glory of Adonai dwelt on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days; on the seventh day He called to Moses from within the cloud.
24:17
וּמַרְאֵה כְּבוֹד־יְהוָה כְּאֵשׁ אֹכֶלֶת בְּרֹאשׁ הָהָר לְעֵינֵי בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃
U-mar’é kevód Adonái ke-ésh ojélet be-rósh ha-hár le-einé benéi Yisra’él.
The appearance of the glory of Adonai was like a consuming fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel.
24:18
וַיָּבֹא מֹשֶׁה בְּתוֹךְ הֶעָנָן וַיַּעַל אֶל־הָהָר וַיְהִי מֹשֶׁה בָּהָר אַרְבָּעִים יוֹם וְאַרְבָּעִים לָיְלָה׃
Va-yavó Moshé betókh he-anán; va-ya’ál el ha-hár; va-yehí Moshé ba-hár arba’ím yóm ve-arba’ím láyla.
Moses entered into the midst of the cloud and went up to the mountain; and Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

Va-ya’ál Moshé ve-Aharón, Nadáv va-Avihú, ve-shiv’ím mi-zikné Yisra’él.
Then Moses went up, along with Aaron, Nadav and Avihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel.
24:10
וַיִּרְאוּ אֵת אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְתַחַת רַגְלָיו כְּמַעֲשֵׂה לִבְנַת הַסַּפִּיר וּכְעֶצֶם הַשָּׁמַיִם לָטֹהַר׃
Va-yir’ú et Elohéi Yisra’él; ve-taját ragláv ke-ma’asé livnát ha-sappír u-khe’étzem ha-shamáyim la-tóhar.
They saw the Elohim of Israel, and under His feet was something like a pavement of sapphire stone, like the very heavens in purity.
24:11
וְאֶל־אֲצִילֵי בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לֹא־שָׁלַח יָדוֹ וַיֶּחֱזוּ אֶת־הָאֱלֹהִים וַיֹּאכְלוּ וַיִּשְׁתּוּ׃
Ve-el atziléi benéi Yisra’él lo shaláḥ yadó; va-yejezú et ha-Elohím va-yoj’lú va-yishtú.
Yet He did not stretch out His hand against the nobles of the children of Israel; they beheld Elohim, and they ate and drank.

Ha-davar asher hayá el Yirmeyahu me’et Hashem ajarei kerot ha-melej Tzidkiyahu brit et kol ha-am asher bi-Yerushalayim likró lahem deror
The word that came to Yirmeyahu from Hashem after King Tzidkiyahu had made a covenant with all the people who were in Jerusalem to proclaim liberty to them
34:9
לְשַׁלַּח אִישׁ אֶת־עַבְדּוֹ וְאִישׁ אֶת־שִׁפְחָתוֹ הָעִבְרִי וְהָעִבְרִיָּה חָפְשִׁים לְבִלְתִּי עֲבֹד־בָּם בִּיהוּדִי אָחִיו אִישׁ
Le-shalaj ish et avdó ve-ish et shifjató ha-ivri ve-ha-ivriyá jofshim le-vilti avod bam bi-Yehudi ajiv ish
That each man should release his Hebrew slave and each man his Hebrew maidservant free so that no one should enslave a fellow Jew his brother
34:10
וַיִּשְׁמְעוּ כָּל־הַשָּׂרִים וְכָל־הָעָם אֲשֶׁר בָּאוּ בַּבְּרִית לְשַׁלַּח אִישׁ אֶת־עַבְדּוֹ וְאִישׁ אֶת־שִׁפְחָתוֹ חָפְשִׁים לְבִלְתִּי עֲבֹד־בָּם עוֹד וַיִּשְׁמְעוּ וַיְשַׁלֵּחוּ
Va-yishme’u kol ha-sarim ve-kol ha-am asher ba’u ba-brit le-shalaj ish et avdó ve-ish et shifjató jofshim le-vilti avod bam od va-yishme’u va-yeshaleju
All the princes and all the people who had entered the covenant obeyed to release each man his slave and each man his maidservant free so that none would keep them enslaved any longer they obeyed and let them go
34:11
וַיָּשֻׁבוּ אַחֲרֵי־כֵן וַיָּשִׁיבוּ אֶת־הָעֲבָדִים וְאֶת־הַשְּׁפָחוֹת אֲשֶׁר שִׁלְּחוּ חָפְשִׁים וַיִּכְבְּשׁוּם לַעֲבָדִים וְלִשְׁפָחוֹת
Va-yashuvu ajarei-ken va-yashivu et ha-avadim ve-et ha-shefajot asher shileju jofshim va-yijbeshum la-avadim ve-lishfajot
But afterward they turned back and brought back the slaves and the maidservants whom they had released free and forced them into subjugation as slaves and maidservants
34:12
וַיְהִי דְּבַר־יְהוָה אֶל־יִרְמְיָהוּ מֵאֵת יְהוָה לֵאמֹר
Va-yehi devar Hashem el Yirmeyahu me’et Hashem lemor
Then the word of Hashem came to Yirmeyahu from Hashem saying
34:13
כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אָנֹכִי כָּרַתִּי בְרִית אֶת־אֲבוֹתֵיכֶם בְּיוֹם הוֹצִאִי אוֹתָם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם מִבֵּית עֲבָדִים לֵאמֹר
Ko amar Hashem Elohei Yisrael anoji karati brit et avotejem be-yom hotzi’i otam me-eretz Mitzrayim mi-beit avadim lemor
Thus says Hashem the God of Israel I made a covenant with your fathers on the day I brought them out of the land of Mitzrayim from the house of bondage saying
34:14
מִקֵּץ שֶׁבַע שָׁנִים תְּשַׁלְּחוּ אִישׁ אֶת־אָחִיו הָעִבְרִי אֲשֶׁר יִמָּכֵר לְךָ וַעֲבָדְךָ שֵׁשׁ שָׁנִים וְשִׁלַּחְתּוֹ חָפְשִׁי מֵעִמָּךְ וְלֹא שָׁמְעוּ אֲבוֹתֵיכֶם אֵלַי וְלֹא הִטּוּ אֶת־אָזְנָם
Mi-ketz sheva shanim teshaleju ish et ajiv ha-ivri asher yimajer leja va-avadja shesh shanim ve-shilajto jofshi me-imaj ve-lo shame’u avotejem elai ve-lo hitu et oznam
At the end of seven years each of you shall release his Hebrew brother who was sold to you and served you six years and you shall send him free from you but your fathers did not listen to Me nor incline their ear
34:15
וְאַתֶּם שַׁבְתֶּם הַיּוֹם וַתַּעֲשׂוּ אֶת־הַיָּשָׁר בְּעֵינַי לִקְרֹא דְּרוֹר אִישׁ לְרֵעֵהוּ וַתִּכְרְתוּ בְרִית לְפָנַי בַּבַּיִת אֲשֶׁר־נִקְרָא שְׁמִי עָלָיו
Ve-atem shavtem ha-yom va-ta’asu et ha-yashar be-einai likró deror ish le-re’ehu va-tikretu brit lefanai ba-bayit asher nikra Shemi alav
You had turned today and done what is right in My eyes, proclaiming freedom each to his fellow, and you made a covenant before Me in the house which is called by My Name.
34:16
וַתָּשֻׁבוּ וַתְּחַלְּלוּ אֶת־שְׁמִי וַתָּשִׁיבוּ אִישׁ אֶת־עַבְדּוֹ וְאִישׁ אֶת־שִׁפְחָתוֹ אֲשֶׁר שִׁלַּחְתֶּם חָפְשִׁים לְנַפְשָׁם וַתִּכְבְּשׁוּם לִהְיוֹת לָכֶם לַעֲבָדִים וְלִשְׁפָחוֹת׃
Va-tashuvu va-techalelu et Shemi va-tashivu ish et avdó ve-ish et shifjató asher shilajtem jofshim le-nafsham va-tikbeshum lihyot lajem la-avadim ve-lishfajot
But you turned back and profaned My Name, and each of you took back his servant and his maidservant whom you had released to freedom, and brought them into subjection again.
34:17
לָכֵן כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה אַתֶּם לֹא שְׁמַעְתֶּם אֵלַי לִקְרֹא דְּרוֹר אִישׁ לְאָחִיו וְאִישׁ לְרֵעֵהוּ הִנְנִי קֹרֵא לָכֶם דְּרוֹר נְאֻם־יְהוָה אֶל־הַחֶרֶב אֶל־הַדֶּבֶר וְאֶל־הָרָעָב וְנָתַתִּי אֶתְכֶם לְזַעֲוָה לְכֹל מַמְלְכוֹת הָאָרֶץ׃
Lajen ko amar Hashem atem lo shematem elai likró deror ish le-ajiv ve-ish le-re’ehu hineni kore lajem deror neum Hashem el ha-jerev el ha-dever ve-el ha-ra’av ve-natati etjem le-za’avah le-khol mamlajot ha-aretz
Therefore thus says Adonai: You have not obeyed Me by proclaiming freedom, each to his brother and to his fellow; behold, I proclaim freedom for you—declares Adonai—to the sword, to pestilence, and to famine, and I will make you a horror to all the kingdoms of the earth.
34:18
וְנָתַתִּי אֶת־הָאֲנָשִׁים הָעֹבְרִים אֶת־בְּרִיתִי אֲשֶׁר לֹא־הֵקִימוּ אֶת־דִּבְרֵי הַבְּרִית אֲשֶׁר כָּרְתוּ לְפָנָי הָעֵגֶל אֲשֶׁר כָּרְתוּ לִשְׁנַיִם וַיַּעַבְרוּ בֵּין בְּתָרָיו׃
Ve-natati et ha-anashim ha-ovrim et briti asher lo hekimú et divrei ha-brit asher karatu lefanai ha-egel asher karatu li-shnayim va-ya’avru bein betarav
I will give the men who transgressed My covenant, who did not uphold the words of the covenant which they made before Me, when they cut the calf in two and passed between its parts,
34:19
אֶת־שָׂרֵי יְהוּדָה וְאֶת־שָׂרֵי יְרוּשָׁלִַם אֶת־הַסָּרִיסִים וְאֶת־הַכֹּהֲנִים וְאֵת כָּל־עַם הָאָרֶץ הָעֹבְרִים בֵּין בְּתָרֵי הָעֵגֶל׃
Sarei Yehuda ve-sarei Yerushalayim ha-sarisim ve-ha-kohanim ve-khol am ha-aretz ha-ovrim bein betarei ha-egel
the officials of Judah and the officials of Jerusalem, the court officials, the priests, and all the people of the land who passed between the parts of the calf,
34:20
וְנָתַתִּי אוֹתָם בְּיַד אֹיְבֵיהֶם וּבְיַד מְבַקְשֵׁי נַפְשָׁם וְהָיְתָה נִבְלָתָם לְמַאֲכַל לְעוֹף הַשָּׁמַיִם וּלְבֶהֱמַת הָאָרֶץ׃
Unetatím be-yad oyevehem u-ve-yad mevakshei nafsham ve-hayetá nivlatam le-ma’achal le-of ha-shamayim u-le-vehemat ha-aretz
I will give them into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of those who seek their lives; and their corpses shall be food for the birds of the heavens and for the beasts of the earth.
34:21
וְאֶת־צִדְקִיָּהוּ מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה וְאֶת־שָׂרָיו אֶתֵּן בְּיַד אֹיְבֵיהֶם וּבְיַד מְבַקְשֵׁי נַפְשָׁם וּבְיַד חֵיל מֶלֶךְ בָּבֶל הָעֹלִים מֵעֲלֵיכֶם׃
Ve-et Tzidkiyahu melej Yehuda ve-et sarav eten be-yad oyevehem u-ve-yad mevakshei nafsham u-ve-yad jeil melej Bavel ha-olim me-alejem
And Zedekiah king of Judah and his officials I will give into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of those who seek their lives, and into the hand of the army of the king of Babylon who are withdrawing from you.
34:22
הִנְנִי מְצַוֶּה נְאֻם־יְהוָה וַהֲשִׁבֹתִים אֶל־הָעִיר הַזֹּאת וְנִלְחֲמוּ עָלֶיהָ וְלָכְדוּהָ וּשְׂרָפוּהָ בָאֵשׁ וְאֶת־עָרֵי יְהוּדָה אֶתֵּן שְׁמָמָה מֵאֵין יוֹשֵׁב׃
Hineni metzaveh neum Hashem va-hashivotim el ha-ir ha-zot ve-niljamú aleha u-lejadúha u-serafúha ba-esh ve-et arei Yehuda eten shemamah me-ein yoshev
Behold, I command—declares Adonai—and I will bring them back to this city; they shall fight against it, capture it, and burn it with fire, and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.
33:25
כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה אִם־לֹא בְרִיתִי יוֹמָם וָלַיְלָה חֻקּוֹת שָׁמַיִם וָאָרֶץ לֹא שָׂמְתִּי׃
Ko amár Adonái: im-lo berití yomám va-láylah, jukót shamáyim va-áretz lo samtí.
Thus says Adonai: If My covenant with day and night, the statutes of heaven and earth, I had not established,
33:26
גַּם־זֶרַע יַעֲקֹב וְדָוִד עַבְדִּי אֶמְאָס מִקַּחַת מִזַּרְעוֹ מֹשְׁלִים אֶל־זֶרַע אַבְרָהָם יִצְחָק וְיַעֲקֹב כִּי־אָשִׁיב אֶת־שְׁבוּתָם וְרִחַמְתִּים׃
Gam zera Yaakov ve-David avdi em’as mi-kajat mi-zaro moshlim el zera Avraham Yitzchak ve-Yaakov ki ashib et shevutam ve-rijamtim
then I would reject the offspring of Jacob and of David My servant, so as not to take from his seed rulers over the offspring of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; for I will restore their fortunes and have compassion on them.

Bi-shnat sheva le-Yehu Yeho’ash malaj ve-arba’im shanah malaj bi-Yerushalayim ve-shem imo Tzivyah mi-Be’er Sheva
In the seventh year of Yehu Yehoash became king and he reigned forty years in Yerushalayim and his mother’s name was Tzivyah of Be’er Sheva
12:2
וַיַּעַשׂ יְהוֹאָשׁ הַיָּשָׁר בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה כָּל־יָמָיו אֲשֶׁר הוֹרָהוּ יְהוֹיָדָע הַכֹּהֵן
Va-ya’as Yeho’ash ha-yashar be-einei Hashem kol yamav asher horahu Yehoyada ha-kohen
Yehoash did what was right in the eyes of Hashem all his days that Yehoyada the priest instructed him
12:3
רַק הַבָּמוֹת לֹא סָרוּ עוֹד הָעָם מְזַבְּחִים וּמְקַטְּרִים בַּבָּמוֹת
Rak ha-bamot lo saru od ha-am mezabjim u-mekatrim ba-bamot
Only the high places were not removed the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places
12:4
וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוֹאָשׁ אֶל־הַכֹּהֲנִים כֹּל כֶּסֶף הַקֳּדָשִׁים אֲשֶׁר־יוּבָא בֵית־יְהוָה כֶּסֶף עוֹבֵר אִישׁ כֶּסֶף נַפְשׁוֹת עֶרְכּוֹ כָּל־כֶּסֶף אֲשֶׁר יַעֲלֶה עַל־לֶב אִישׁ לְהָבִיא בֵּית־יְהוָה

Yehoash said to the priests All the money of the sacred offerings that is brought into the House of Hashem the money from those who pass by and are assessed the money from personal valuations and all the money that arises in a man’s heart to bring into the House of Hashem
12:5
יִקְחוּ לָהֶם הַכֹּהֲנִים אִישׁ מֵאֵת מַכָּרוֹ וְהֵם יְחַזְּקוּ אֶת־בֶּדֶק הַבַּיִת לְכֹל אֲשֶׁר־יִמָּצֵא שָׁם בֶּדֶק
Yikju lahem ha-kohanim ish me’et makaro ve-hem yejazzeku et bedek ha-bayit le-khol asher yimmatze sham bedek
Let the priests take it for themselves each from his acquaintance and they shall strengthen the repair of the House wherever any breach is found there
12:6
וַיְהִי בִּשְׁנַת עֶשְׂרִים וְשָׁלֹשׁ שָׁנָה לַמֶּלֶךְ יְהוֹאָשׁ לֹא חִזְּקוּ הַכֹּהֲנִים אֶת־בֶּדֶק הַבָּיִת
Va-yehi bi-shnat esrim ve-shalosh shanah la-melej Yeho’ash lo jizzeku ha-kohanim et bedek ha-bayit
And it came to pass in the twenty third year of King Yehoash that the priests had not strengthened the repair of the House
12:7
וַיִּקְרָא הַמֶּלֶךְ יְהוֹאָשׁ לִיהוֹיָדָע הַכֹּהֵן וְלַכֹּהֲנִים וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵהֶם מַדּוּעַ אֵינְכֶם מְחַזְּקִים אֶת־בֶּדֶק הַבָּיִת וְעַתָּה אַל־תִּקְחוּ־כֶסֶף מֵאֵת מַכָּרֵיכֶם כִּי־לְבֶדֶק הַבָּיִת תִּתְּנוּהוּ
Va-yikra ha-melej Yeho’ash li-Yehoyada ha-kohen ve-la-kohanim va-yomer alehem madua einjem mejazzekim et bedek ha-bayit ve-ata al tikju kesef me’et makarejem ki le-bedek ha-bayit titenuhu
King Yehoash called Yehoyada the priest and the priests and said to them Why are you not strengthening the repair of the House Now therefore take no more money from your acquaintances but you shall give it for the repair of the House
12:8
וַיֵּאֹתוּ הַכֹּהֲנִים לְבִלְתִּי קַחַת־כֶּסֶף מֵאֵת הָעָם וּלְבִלְתִּי חַזֵּק אֶת־בֶּדֶק הַבָּיִת
Va-ye’otu ha-kohanim le-vilti kajat kesef me’et ha-am u-le-vilti jazeq et bedek ha-bayit
So the priests agreed not to take money from the people and not to strengthen the repair of the House
12:9
וַיִּקַּח יְהוֹיָדָע הַכֹּהֵן אֲרוֹן אֶחָד וַיִּקֹּב חֹר בְּדַלְתּוֹ וַיִּתֵּן אֹתוֹ אֵצֶל הַמִּזְבֵּחַ מִיָּמִין לְבוֹא־אִישׁ בֵּית יְהוָה וְנָתְנוּ־שָׁם הַכֹּהֲנִים שֹׁמְרֵי הַסַּף אֶת־כָּל־הַכֶּסֶף הַמּוּבָא בֵּית־יְהוָה
Va-yikaj Yehoyada ha-kohen aron ejad va-yikov jor be-dalto va-yiten oto etzel ha-mizbeaj mi-yamin le-vo ish Beit Hashem ve-natenu sham ha-kohanim shomrei ha-saf et kol ha-kesef ha-muva Beit Hashem
Yehoyada the priest took one chest and bored a hole in its lid and placed it beside the altar on the right side as one enters the House of Hashem and the priests who guarded the threshold put there all the money that was brought into the House of Hashem
12:10
וַיְהִי כִּרְאוֹתָם כִּי־רַב הַכֶּסֶף בָּאָרוֹן וַיַּעַל סֹפֵר הַמֶּלֶךְ וְהַכֹּהֵן הַגָּדוֹל וַיָּצֻרוּ וַיִּמְנוּ אֶת־הַכֶּסֶף הַנִּמְצָא בֵּית־יְהוָה
Va-yehi kir’otam ki rav ha-kesef ba-aron va-ya’al sofer ha-melej ve-ha-kohen ha-gadol va-yatzuru va-yimnu et ha-kesef ha-nimtza Beit Hashem
And it came to pass when they saw that there was much money in the chest that the king’s scribe and the High Priest came up and they bound it and counted the money that was found in the House of Hashem
12:11
וְנָתְנוּ אֶת־הַכֶּסֶף הַמְתֻכָּן עַל־יְדֵי עֹשֵׂי הַמְּלָאכָה הַפְּקֻדִים עַל־בֵּית יְהוָה וַיּוֹצִיאֻהוּ לַחֹרְשֵׁי הָעֵץ וְלַבֹּנִים הָעֹשִׂים בֵּית יְהוָה
Ve-natenu et ha-kesef ha-metukan al yedei osei ha-melajá ha-pekudim al Beit Hashem va-yotziuhu la-jor’shei ha-etz ve-la-bonim ha-osim Beit Hashem
And they gave the weighed money into the hands of those who did the work who were appointed over the House of Hashem and they brought it out to the carpenters and the builders who worked on the House of Hashem
12:12
וְלַגֹּדְרִים וְלַחֹצְבֵי הָאֶבֶן וְלִקְנוֹת עֵצִים וְאַבְנֵי מַחְצֵב לְחַזֵּק אֶת־בֶּדֶק בֵּית־יְהוָה וּלְכֹל אֲשֶׁר־יֵצֵא עַל־הַבַּיִת לְחַזְּקוֹ
Ve-la-godrim ve-la-joztvei ha-even ve-liknot etzim ve-avnei majtzav le-jazek et bedek Beit Hashem u-le-khol asher yetze al ha-bayit le-jazeko
And to the masons and the stonecutters and to buy timber and quarried stone to strengthen the repair of the House of Hashem and for all that was expended on the House to repair it
12:13
אַךְ לֹא יֵעָשֶׂה בֵית־יְהוָה סִפּוֹת כֶּסֶף מְזַמְּרוֹת מִזְרָקוֹת חֲצֹצְרוֹת כָּל־כְּלֵי זָהָב וּכְלֵי־כֶסֶף מִן־הַכֶּסֶף הַמּוּבָא בֵּית־יְהוָה
Aj lo ye’ase Beit Hashem sipot kesef mezammerot mizrakot jatzotzrot kol klei zahav u-klei kesef min ha-kesef ha-muva Beit Hashem
However there were not made for the House of Hashem bowls of silver snuffers basins trumpets any vessels of gold or vessels of silver from the money that was brought into the House of Hashem
12:14
כִּי לְעֹשֵׂי הַמְּלָאכָה יִתְּנֻהוּ וְחִזְּקוּ־בוֹ אֶת־בֵּית יְהוָה
Ki le-osei ha-melajá yitnuhu ve-jizzeku vo et Beit Hashem
For they gave it to those who did the work and with it they strengthened the House of Hashem
12:15
וְלֹא יְחַשְּׁבוּ אֶת־הָאֲנָשִׁים אֲשֶׁר־יִתְּנוּ אֶת־הַכֶּסֶף עַל־יָדָם לָתֵת לְעֹשֵׂי הַמְּלָאכָה כִּי בֶאֱמוּנָה הֵם עֹשִׂים
Ve-lo yejashshevu et ha-anashim asher yitnu et ha-kesef al yadam latet le-osei ha-melajá ki ve-emunah hem osim
And they did not reckon with the men into whose hand they gave the money to give to those who did the work for they acted faithfully
12:16
כֶּסֶף אָשָׁם וְכֶסֶף חַטָּאוֹת לֹא יוּבָא בֵּית־יְהוָה לַכֹּהֲנִים יִהְיוּ
Kesef asham ve-kesef jatá’ot lo yuvá Beit Hashem la-kohanim yihyu
The money of guilt offerings and the money of sin offerings was not brought into the House of Hashem it belonged to the priests
12:17
אָז יַעֲלֶה חֲזָאֵל מֶלֶךְ אֲרָם וַיִּלָּחֶם עַל־גַּת וַיִּלְכְּדָהּ וַיָּשֶׂם חֲזָאֵל פָּנָיו לַעֲלוֹת עַל־יְרוּשָׁלִָם
Az ya’ale Jaza’el melej Aram va-yilajem al Gat va-yilkjeda va-yasem Jaza’el panav la’alot al Yerushalayim
Then Jazael king of Aram went up and fought against Gat and captured it and Jazael set his face to go up against Yerushalayim
