23:20
Hinné anojí sholéaj maláj lefanéja, lishmorjá ba-dárej, ve-laha-vi’ajá el-ha-makóm asher hajanótí.
Behold, I am sending an angel before you, to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared.
23:21
Hishamér mi-panáv u-shemá be-koló; al-tammér bo, ki lo yissá le-fish’ajém, ki shemí be-kirbó.
Beware of him and heed his voice; do not rebel against him, for he will not pardon your transgression, for My Name is within him.
23:22
Ki im-shamó’a tishmá be-koló, ve-asíta kol asher adabbér; ve-ayávtí et-oyvéja, ve-tzartí et-tzoreréja.
But if you indeed listen to his voice and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.
23:23
Ki yeléj malají lefanéja, ve-hevi’ajá el-ha-Emorí ve-ha-Jittí ve-ha-Perizzí ve-ha-Kena’aní, ha-Jiví ve-ha-Yevusí; ve-hikjadtív.
For My angel will go before you and bring you to the Amorite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Canaanite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, and I will destroy them.
23:24
You shall not bow down to their gods nor serve them, nor do according to their practices; rather, you shall utterly overthrow them and completely break down their pillars.
23:25
Va-avad’tem et-Adonái Elohéjem; u-veráj et-lajméja ve-et-meiméja, va-hasirotí majalá mi-kirbéja.
You shall serve Adonai your Elohim, and He will bless your bread and your water, and I will remove sickness from among you.
23:26
Lo tihyé meshakkélah va-akarah be-artzéja; et mispár yaméja amallé.
There shall be no miscarrying or barrenness in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.
23:27
Et eimatí ashalláj lefanéja; ve-hammotí et kol ha-ám asher tavó ba-hem; ve-natattí et kol oyvéja eléja óref.
I will send My dread before you, and I will confuse all the people among whom you come, and I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you.
23:28
Ve-shalaḥtí et ha-tzir’á lefanéja; ve-gershá et ha-Jiví, et ha-Kena’aní, ve-et ha-Jittí mill’fanéja.
I will send the hornet before you, which shall drive out the Hivite, the Canaanite, and the Hittite from before you.
23:29
Lo agarshenú mipanéja be-shaná eját, pen tihyé ha-áretz shemamáh, ve-rabbá aléja ḥayyát ha-sadé.
I will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate and the beasts of the field multiply against you.
23:30
Me’at me’at agarshenú mipanéja, ad asher tifré ve-najaltá et ha-áretz.
Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you increase and inherit the land.
23:31
I will set your borders from the Sea of Reeds to the Sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness to the River; for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out from before you.
23:32
Lo tijrót lahem ve-le-elohéhem berít.
You shall not make a covenant with them or with their gods.
23:33
Lo yeshvú be-artzéja, pen yajati’ú otjá li; ki ta’avód et elohéhem, ki yihyé lejá le-mokésh.
They shall not dwell in your land, lest they cause you to sin against Me; for if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you.
24:1
Ve-el Moshé amár: alé el Adonái atá ve-Aharón, Nadáv va-Avihú, ve-shiv’ím mi-zikné Yisra’él, ve-hishtajavitém merajók.
And He said to Moses: “Come up to Adonai—you, Aaron, Nadav and Avihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel—and bow yourselves from afar.”
24:2
Moses alone shall approach Adonai, but they shall not approach, and the people shall not go up with him.
24:3
Va-yavó Moshé va-yesappér la-ám et kol divré Adonái ve-et kol ha-mishpatím; va-ya’án kol ha-ám kol ejád va-yomrú: kol ha-devarím asher dibbér Adonái na’asé.
Moses came and told the people all the words of Adonai and all the ordinances; and all the people answered with one voice and said, “All the words that Adonai has spoken we will do.”
24:4
Va-yijtóv Moshé et kol divré Adonái; va-yashkém ba-bóker va-yíven mizbéaj taját ha-hár, u-shteím esré matzevá li-shnéim asár shivté Yisra’él.
Moses wrote all the words of Adonai. He arose early in the morning and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel.
24:5
Va-yishláḥ et na’aréi benéi Yisra’él, va-ya’alú olót va-yizbejúl zevajím shelamím la-Adonái parím.
He sent the young men of the children of Israel, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to Adonai.
24:6
Va-yikkáḥ Moshé jatzí ha-dám va-yássem ba-aganót; va-jatzí ha-dám zarák al ha-mizbéaj.
Moses took half of the blood and put it in basins, and half of the blood he dashed against the altar.
24:7
Va-yikkáḥ séfer ha-berít va-yikrá be-oznéi ha-ám; va-yomrú: kol asher dibbér Adonái na’asé ve-nishmá.
He took the Book of the Covenant and read it in the hearing of the people; and they said, “All that Adonai has spoken we will do and we will hear.”
24:8
Va-yikkáḥ Moshé et ha-dám va-yizrók al ha-ám, va-yómer: hinné dam ha-berít asher karát Adonái immájém al kol ha-devarím ha-éleh.
Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people and said, “Behold the blood of the covenant which Adonai has made with you concerning all these words.”
24:9
Va-ya’ál Moshé ve-Aharón, Nadáv va-Avihú, ve-shiv’ím mi-zikné Yisra’él.
Then Moses went up with Aaron, Nadav and Avihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel.
24:10
Va-yir’ú et Elohéi Yisra’él; ve-taját ragláv ke-ma’asé livnát ha-sappír u-khe’étzem ha-shamáyim la-tóhar.
They saw the Elohim of Israel, and under His feet was something like a pavement of sapphire stone, like the very heavens in purity.
24:11
Ve-el atziléi benéi Yisra’él lo shaláḥ yadó; va-yejezú et ha-Elohím va-yoj’lú va-yishtú.
Yet He did not stretch out His hand against the nobles of the children of Israel; they beheld Elohim, and they ate and drank.
24:12
Va-yómer Adonái el Moshé: alé elái ha-hará ve-heyé sham; ve-ett’ná lejá et lujót ha-éven ve-ha-Torá ve-ha-mitzvá asher katávtí le-horotám.
Adonai said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and be there, and I will give you the stone tablets, the Torah and the commandment which I have written to instruct them.”
24:13
Moses arose with Joshua his attendant, and Moses went up to the mountain of Elohim.
24:14
To the elders he said, “Remain here for us until we return to you; behold, Aaron and Hur are with you—whoever has a matter, let him approach them.”
24:15
Va-ya’ál Moshé el ha-hár; va-yekhas he-anán et ha-hár.
Moses went up into the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain.
24:16
Va-yishkón kevód Adonái al har Sinái; va-yekhasséhu he-anán shéshet yamím; va-yikrá el Moshé ba-yóm ha-shevi’í mitókh he-anán.
The glory of Adonai dwelt on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days; on the seventh day He called to Moses from within the cloud.
24:17
U-mar’é kevód Adonái ke-ésh ojélet be-rósh ha-hár le-einé benéi Yisra’él.
The appearance of the glory of Adonai was like a consuming fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel.
24:18
Va-yavó Moshé betókh he-anán; va-ya’ál el ha-hár; va-yehí Moshé ba-hár arba’ím yóm ve-arba’ím láyla.
Moses entered into the midst of the cloud and went up to the mountain; and Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.
