Atonement for the Sanctuary and the Priesthood

16:1וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל־מֹשֶׁה אַחֲרֵי מוֹת שְׁנֵי בְּנֵי אַהֲרֹן בְּקָרְבָתָם לִפְנֵי־יְהוָה וַיָּמֻתוּ׃Vayedaber Adonai el-Moshe acharei mot shené vené Aharón bekorvatam lifné Adonai vayamútu.The LORD spoke to Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they drew near before the LORD and died.
16:2וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל־מֹשֶׁה דַּבֵּר אֶל־אַהֲרֹן אָחִיךָ וְאַל־יָבֹא בְכָל־עֵת אֶל־הַקֹּדֶשׁ מִבֵּית לַפָּרֹכֶת אֶל־פְּנֵי הַכַּפֹּרֶת אֲשֶׁר עַל־הָאָרֹן וְלֹא יָמוּת כִּי בֶּעָנָן אֵרָאֶה עַל־הַכַּפֹּרֶת׃Vayomer Adonai el-Moshe daber el-Aharon achicha veal-yavo vechol-et el-hakodesh mibeit laparochet el-pene hakapporet asher al-haaron velo yamut ki beanan erae al-hakapporet.The LORD said to Moses: Tell your brother Aaron that he is not to come at just any time into the Sanctuary within the curtain, in front of the cover that is upon the ark, lest he die; for I appear in the cloud over the cover.
16:3בְּזֹאת יָבֹא אַהֲרֹן אֶל־הַקֹּדֶשׁ בְּפַר בֶּן־בָּקָר לְחַטָּאת וְאַיִל לְעֹלָה׃Bezot yavo Aharon el-hakodesh bepar ben-bakar lechattat veayil leola.With this shall Aaron enter the Sanctuary: with a young bull for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering.
16:4כְּתֹנֶת־בַּד קֹדֶשׁ יִלְבָּשׁ וּמִכְנְסֵי־בַד יִהְיוּ עַל־בְּשָׂרוֹ וּבְאַבְנֵט בַּד יַחְגֹּר וּמִצְנֶפֶת בַּד יִצְנֹף בִּגְדֵי־קֹדֶשׁ הֵם וְרָחַץ בַּמַּיִם אֶת־בְּשָׂרוֹ וּלְבֵשָׁם׃Ketonet-bad kodesh yilbash umichnese-bad yihyu al-besaro uvavnet bad yachgor umitznefet bad yitznof bigde-kodesh hem verachatz bammayim et-besaro ulevasham.He shall put on a sacral linen tunic, with linen breeches next to his body, and be girt with a linen sash, and he shall cap his head with a linen turban. These are sacral vestments; he shall bathe his body in water and then put them on.
16:5וּמֵאֵת עֲדַת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל יִקַּח שְׁנֵי־שְׂעִירֵי עִזִּים לְחַטָּאת וְאַיִל אֶחָד לְעֹלָה׃Umeet adat bené Yisrael yikkach shené-seiré izzim lechattat veayil echad leola.And from the Israelite community he shall take two he-goats for a sin offering and one ram for a burnt offering.
16:6וְהִקְרִיב אַהֲרֹן אֶת־פַּר הַחַטָּאת אֲשֶׁר־לוֹ וְכִפֶּר בַּעֲדוֹ וּבְעַד בֵּיתוֹ׃Vehikriv Aharon et-par hachattat asher-lo vechipper baado uvead beito.Aaron shall offer the bull of sin offering, which is his own, to make atonement for himself and for his household.
16:7וְלָקַח אֶת־שְׁנֵי הַשְּׂעִירִם וְהֶעֱמִיד אֹתָם לִפְנֵי יְהוָה פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד׃Velakach et-shené hasseirim veheemid otam lifné Adonai petach ohel moed.He shall take the two goats and let them stand before the LORD at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.
16:8וְנָתַן אַהֲרֹן עַל־שְׁנֵי הַשְּׂעִירִם גּוֹרָלוֹת גּוֹרָל אֶחָד לַיהוָה וְגוֹרָל אֶחָד לַעֲזָאזֵל׃Venatan Aharon al-shené hasseirim goralot goral echad lAdonai vegoral echad la-Azazel.And Aaron shall place lots upon the two goats, one marked for the LORD and the other marked for Azazel.
16:9וְהִקְרִיב אַהֲרֹן אֶת־הַשָּׂעִיר אֲשֶׁר עָלָיו הַגּוֹרָל לַיהוָה וְעָשָׂהוּ חַטָּאת׃Vehikriv Aharon et-hasseir asher ala alav haggoral lAdonai veasahu chattat.Aaron shall bring forward the goat designated by lot for the LORD, which he shall offer as a sin offering;
16:10וְהַשָּׂעִיר אֲשֶׁר עָלָיו הַגּוֹרָל לַעֲזָאזֵל יָעֳמַד־חַי לִפְנֵי יְהוָה לְכַפֵּר עָלָיו לְשַׁלַּח אֹתוֹ לַעֲזָאזֵל הַמִּדְבָּרָה׃Vehasseir asher ala alav haggoral la-Azazel yaomad-chai lifné Adonai lechapper alav leshallach oto la-Azazel hammidbara.while the goat designated by lot for Azazel shall be left standing alive before the LORD, to make expiation with it and to send it off to the wilderness for Azazel.
16:11וְהִקְרִיב אַהֲרֹן אֶת־פַּר הַחַטָּאת אֲשֶׁר־לוֹ וְכִפֶּר בַּעֲדוֹ וּבְעַד בֵּיתוֹ וְשָׁחַט אֶת־פַּר הַחַטָּאת אֲשֶׁר־לוֹ׃Vehikriv Aharon et-par hachattat asher-lo vechipper baado uvead beito veshachat et-par hachattat asher-lo.Aaron shall then offer his bull of sin offering, to make atonement for himself and his household; he shall slaughter his bull of sin offering.
16:12וְלָקַח מְלֹא־הַמַּחְתָּה גַּחֲלֵי־אֵשׁ מֵעַל הַמִּזְבֵּחַ מִלִּפְנֵי יְהוָה וּמְלֹא חָפְנָיו קְטֹרֶת סַמִּים דַּקָּה וְהֵבִיא מִבֵּית לַפָּרֹכֶת׃Velakach melo-hammachta gachalé-esh me-al hammizbeach millifné Adonai umlo chofnav ketoret sammim dakka vehevi mibbeit laparochet.He shall take a panful of glowing coals heaped from the altar before the LORD, and two handfuls of finely ground aromatic incense, and bring this behind the curtain.
16:13וְנָתַן אֶת־הַקְּטֹרֶת עַל־הָאֵשׁ לִפְנֵי יְהוָה וְכִסָּה עֲנַן הַקְּטֹרֶת אֶת־הַכַּפֹּרֶת אֲשֶׁר עַל־הָעֵדוּת וְלֹא יָמוּת׃Venatan et-haketoret al-haesh lifné Adonai vechissa anan haketoret et-hakapporet asher al-haedut velo yamut.He shall put the incense on the fire before the LORD, so that the cloud from the incense screens the cover that is over the Covenant, lest he die.
16:14וְלָקַח מִדַּם הַפָּר וְהִזָּה בְאֶצְבָּעוֹ עַל־פְּנֵי הַכַּפֹּרֶת קֵדְמָה וְלִפְנֵי הַכַּפֹּרֶת יַזֶּה שֶׁבַע־פְּעָמִים מִן־הַדָּם בְּאֶצְבָּעוֹ׃Velakach middam happar vehizza veetzbao al-pené hakapporet kedma velifné hakapporet yazze sheva-peamim min-haddam beetzbao.He shall take some of the blood of the bull and sprinkle it with his finger over the cover on the east side; and in front of the cover he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times.
16:15וְשָׁחַט אֶת־שְׂעִיר הַחַטָּאת אֲשֶׁר לָעָם וְהֵבִיא אֶת־דָּמוֹ אֶל־מִבֵּית לַפָּרֹכֶת וְעָשָׂה אֶת־דָּמוֹ כַּאֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה לְדַם הַפָּר וְהִזָּה אֹתוֹ עַל־הַכַּפֹּרֶת וְלִפְנֵי הַכַּפֹּרֶת׃Veshachat et-seir hachattat asher laam vehevi et-damo el-mibeit laparochet veasa et-damo kaasher asa ledam happar vehizza oto al-hakapporet velifné hakapporet.He shall then slaughter the people’s goat of sin offering, bring its blood behind the curtain, and do with its blood as he has done with the blood of the bull: he shall sprinkle it over the cover and in front of the cover.
16:16וְכִפֶּר עַל־הַקֹּדֶשׁ מִטֻּמְאֹת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וּמִפִּשְׁעֵיהֶם לְכָל־חַטֹּאתָם וְכֵן יַעֲשֶׂה לְאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד הַשֹּׁכֵן אִתָּם בְּתוֹךְ טֻמְאֹתָם׃Vechipper al-hakodesh mittumot bené Yisrael umifsheihem lechol-chattotam vechen yaase leohel moed hassochen ittam betoch tumotam.Thus he shall purge the Shrine of the uncleanness and transgression of the Israelites, whatever their sins; and he shall do the same for the Tent of Meeting, which abides with them in the midst of their uncleanness.
16:17וְכָל־אָדָם לֹא־יִהְיֶה בְּאֹהֶל מוֹעֵד בְּבֹאוֹ לְכַפֵּר בַּקֹּדֶשׁ עַד־צֵאתֹו וְכִפֶּר בַּעֲדוֹ וּבְעַד בֵּיתוֹ וּבְעַד כָּל־קְהַל יִשְׂרָאֵל׃Vechol-adam lo-yihye beohel moed bevo-o lechapper bakkodesh ad-tzeto vechipper baado uvead beito uvead kol-kehal Yisrael.When he goes in to make purgation in the Shrine, nobody else shall be in the Tent of Meeting until he comes out. When he has made purgation for himself and his household, and for the whole congregation of Israel,
16:18וְיָצָא אֶל־הַמִּזְבֵּחַ אֲשֶׁר לִפְנֵי־יְהוָה וְכִפֶּר עָלָיו וְלָקַח מִדַּם הַפָּר וּמִדַּם הַשָּׂעִיר וְנָתַן עַל־קַרְנוֹת הַמִּזְבֵּחַ סָבִיב׃Veyatza el-hammizbeach asher lifné-Adonai vechipper alav velakach middam happar umiddam hasseir venatan al-karnot hammizbeach saviv.he shall go out to the altar that is before the LORD and purge it: he shall take some of the blood of the bull and of the goat and apply it to each of the horns of the altar;
16:19וְהִזָּה עָלָיו מִן־הַדָּם בְּאֶצְבָּעוֹ שֶׁבַע פְּעָמִים וְטִהֲרוֹ וְקִדְּשׁוֹ מִטֻּמְאֹת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃Vehizza alav min-haddam beetzbao sheva peamim vetihero vekiddesho mittumot bené Yisrael.and some of the blood he shall sprinkle on it with his finger seven times. Thus he shall cleanse it of the uncleanness of the Israelites and consecrate it.
16:20וְכִלָּה מִכַּפֵּר אֶת־הַקֹּדֶשׁ וְאֶת־אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד וְאֶת־הַמִּזְבֵּחַ וְהִקְרִיב אֶת־הַשָּׂעִיר הֶחָי׃Vechilla michapper et-hakodesh veet-ohel moed veet-hammizbeach vehikriv et-hasseir hachai.When he has finished purging the Shrine, the Tent of Meeting, and the altar, the live goat shall be brought forward.
16:21וְסָמַךְ אַהֲרֹן אֶת־שְׁתֵּי יָדָו עַל רֹאשׁ הַשָּׂעִיר הַחַי וְהִתְוַדָּה עָלָיו אֶת־כָּל־עֲוֺנֹת בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאֶת־כָּל־פִּשְׁעֵיהֶם לְכָל־חַטֹּאתָם וְנָתַן אֹתָם עַל־רֹאשׁ הַשָּׂעִיר וְשִׁלַּח בְּיַד־אִישׁ עִתִּי הַמִּדְבָּרָה׃Vesamach Aharon et-sheté yadav al rosh hasseir hachai vehitvadda alav et-kol-avonot bené Yisrael veet-kol-pish-eihem lechol-chattotam venatan otam al-rosh hasseir veshillach beyad-ish itti hammidbara.Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat and confess over it all the iniquities and transgressions of the Israelites, whatever their sins, putting them on the head of the goat; and it shall be sent off to the wilderness through a designated man.
16:22וְנָשָׂא הַשָּׂעִיר עָלָיו אֶת־כָּל־עֲוֺנֹתָם אֶל־אֶרֶץ גְּזֵרָה וְשִׁלַּח אֶת־הַשָּׂעִיר בַּמִּדְבָּר׃Venasa hasseir alav et-kol-avonotam el-eretz gzera veshillach et-hasseir bammidbar.Thus the goat shall carry on it all their iniquities to an inaccessible region; and the goat shall be set free in the wilderness.
16:23וּבָא אַהֲרֹן אֶל־אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד וּפָשַׁט אֶת־בִּגְדֵי הַבָּד אֲשֶׁר לָבַשׁ בְּבֹאוֹ אֶל־הַקֹּדֶשׁ וְהִנִּיחָם שָׁם׃Uva Aharon el-ohel moed upashat et-bigde habbad asher lavash bevo-o el-hakodesh vehinnicham sham.And Aaron shall go into the Tent of Meeting, take off the linen vestments that he put on when he entered the Shrine, and leave them there.
16:24וְרָחַץ אֶת־בְּשָׂרוֹ בַמַּיִם בְּמָקוֹם קָדוֹשׁ וְלָבַשׁ אֶת־בְּגָדָיו וְיָצָא וְעָשָׂה אֶת־עֹלָתוֹ וְאֶת־עֹלַת הָעָם וְכִפֶּר בַּעֲדוֹ וּבְעַד הָעָם׃Verachatz et-besaro bammayim bemakom kadosh velavash et-begadav veyatza veasa et-olato veet-olat haam vechipper baado uvead haam.He shall bathe his body in water in a holy place and put on his vestments; then he shall come out and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people, making atonement for himself and for the people.

16:25וְאֵת חֵלֶב הַחַטָּאת יַקְטִיר הַמִּזְבֵּחָה׃Veet chelev hachattat yaktir hammizbeacha.The fat of the sin offering he shall turn into smoke on the altar.
16:26וְהַמְשַׁלֵּחַ אֶת־הַשָּׂעִיר לַעֲזָאזֵל יְכַבֵּס בְּגָדָיו וְרָחַץ אֶת־בְּשָׂרוֹ בַּמָּיִם וְאַחֲרֵי־כֵן יָבוֹא אֶל־הַמַּחֲנֶה׃Vehamshalléach et-hasseir la-Azazel yechabbes begadav verachatz et-besaro bammayim veacharé-chen yavo el-hammachane.He who set the goat free for Azazel shall wash his clothes and bathe his body in water; after that he may re-enter the camp.
16:27וְאֵת פַּר הַחַטָּאת וְאֵת שְׂעִיר הַחַטָּאת אֲשֶׁר הוּבָא אֶת־דָּמָם לְכַפֵּר בַּקֹּדֶשׁ יוֹצִיא אֶל־מִחוּץ לַמַּחֲנֶה וְשָׂרְפוּ בָאֵשׁ אֶת־עֹרֹתָם וְאֶת־בְּשָׂרָם וְאֶת־פִּרְשָׁם׃Veet par hachattat veet seir hachattat asher huva et-damam lechapper bakkodesh yotzi el-michutz lammachane vesarefu vaesh et-orotam veet-besaram veet-pirsham.The bull of sin offering and the goat of sin offering whose blood was brought in to purge the Sanctuary shall be taken outside the camp; and their hides, their flesh, and their offal shall be consumed in fire.
16:28וְהַשֹּׂרֵף אֹתָם יְכַבֵּס בְּגָדָיו וְרָחַץ אֶת־בְּשָׂרוֹ בַּמָּיִם וְאַחֲרֵי־כֵן יָבוֹא אֶל־הַמַּחֲנֶה׃Vehassoref otam yechabbes begadav verachatz et-besaro bammayim veacharé-chen yavo el-hammachane.He who burned them shall wash his clothes and bathe his body in water; after that he may re-enter the camp.
16:29וְהָיְתָה לָכֶם לְחֻקַּת עוֹלָם בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִי בֶּעָשׂוֹר לַחֹדֶשׁ תְּעַנּוּ אֶת־נַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶם וְכָל־מְלָאכָה לֹא תַעֲשׂוּ הָאֶזְרָח וְהַגֵּר הַגָּר בְּתוֹכְכֶם׃Vehayeta lachem lechukkat olam bachodesh hashvii beasor lachodesh teannu et-nafshoteichem vechol-melacha lo taassu haezrach vehagger haggar betochechem.And this shall be to you a law for all time: In the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall practice self-denial; and you shall do no manner of work, neither the citizen nor the alien who resides among you.
16:30כִּי־בַיּוֹם הַזֶּה יְכַפֵּר עֲלֵיכֶם לְטַהֵר אֶתְכֶם מִכֹּל חַטֹּאתֵיכֶם לִפְנֵי יְהוָה תִּטְהָרוּ׃Ki-vayom hazze yechapper aleichem letaher etchem mikol chattoteichem lifné Adonai titharu.For on this day atonement shall be made for you to cleanse you of all your sins; you shall be clean before the LORD.
16:31שַׁבַּת שַׁבָּתוֹן הִיא לָכֶם וְעִנִּיתֶם אֶת־נַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶם חֻקַּת עוֹלָם׃Shabbat shabbaton hi lachem veanitem et-nafshoteichem chukkat olam.It shall be a sabbath of complete rest for you, and you shall practice self-denial; it is a law for all time.
16:32וְכִפֶּר הַכֹּהֵן אֲשֶׁר־יִמְשַׁח אֹתוֹ וַאֲשֶׁר יְמַלֵּא אֶת־יָדוֹ לְכַהֵן תַּחַת אָבִיו וְלָבַשׁ אֶת־בִּגְדֵי הַבָּד בִּגְדֵי הַקֹּדֶשׁ׃Vechipper hakohen asher-yimshach oto vaasher yemalle et-yado lechahen tachat aviv velavash et-bigde habbad bigde hakkodesh.The priest who has been anointed and ordained to serve as priest in place of his father shall perform the purgation. He shall put on the linen vestments, the sacral vestments.
16:33וְכִפֶּר אֶת־מִקְדַּשׁ הַקֹּדֶשׁ וְאֶת־אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד וְאֶת־הַמִּזְבֵּחַ יְכַפֵּר וְעַל הַכֹּהֲנִים וְעַל־כּל־עַם הַקָּהָל יְכַפֵּר׃Vechipper et-mikdash hakkodesh veet-ohel moed veet-hammizbeach yechapper veal hakohanim veal-kol-am hakkahal yechipper.He shall purge the innermost Shrine; he shall purge the Tent of Meeting and the altar; and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the congregation.
16:34וְהָיְתָה־זֹּאת לָכֶם לְחֻקַּת עוֹלָם לְכַפֵּר עַל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל מִכָּל־חַטֹּאתָם אַחַת בַּשָּׁנָה וַיַּעַשׂ כַּאֲשֶׁר צִוָּה יְהוָה אֶת־מֹשֶׁה׃Vehayeta-zot lachem lechukkat olam lechapper al-bené Yisrael mikol-chattotam achat bashana vayaas kaasher tzivva Adonai et-Moshe.This shall be to you a law for all time: to make atonement for the Israelites for all their sins once a year. And Moses did as the LORD had commanded him.
17:1וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל־מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר׃Vayedaber Adonai el-Moshe lemor.The LORD spoke to Moses, saying:
17:2דַּבֵּר אֶל־אַהֲרֹן וְאֶל־בָּנָיו וְאֶל כָּל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵיהֶם זֶה הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּה יְהוָה לֵאמֹר׃Daber el-Aharon veel-banav veel kol-bené Yisrael veamarta aleihem ze haddavar asher-tzivva Adonai lemor.Speak to Aaron and his sons and to all the Israelite people and say to them: This is what the LORD has commanded:
17:3אִישׁ אִישׁ מִבֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר יִשְׁחַט שׁוֹר אוֹ־כֶשֶׂב אוֹ־עֵז בַּמַּחֲנֶה אוֹ אֲשֶׁר יִשְׁחַט מִחוּץ לַמַּחֲנֶה׃Ish ish mibbeit Yisrael asher yishchat shor o-chesev o-ez bammachane o asher yishchat michutz lammachane.if anyone of the house of Israel slaughters an ox or sheep or goat in the camp, or does so outside the camp,
17:4וְאֶל־פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד לֹא הֱבִיאוֹ לְהַקְרִיב קָרְבָּן לַיהוָה לִפְנֵי מִשְׁכַּן יְהוָה דָּם יֵחָשֵׁב לָאִישׁ הַהוּא דָּם שָׁפָךְ וְנִכְרַת הָאִישׁ הַהוּא מִקֶּרֶב עַמּוֹ׃Veel-petach ohel moed lo heviau lehakriv korban lAdonai lifné mishkan Adonai dam yechashev laish hahu dam shafach venichrat haish hahu mikkererev ammo.and does not bring it to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting to present it as an offering to the LORD, before the LORD’s Tabernacle, bloodguilt shall be imputed to that person: he has shed blood; that person shall be cut off from among his people.
17:5לְמַעַן אֲשֶׁר יָבִיאוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת־זִבְחֵיהֶם אֲשֶׁר הֵם זֹבְחִים עַל־פְּנֵי הַשָּׂדֶה וֶהֱבִיאֻם לַיהוָה אֶל־פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד אֶל־הַכֹּהֵן וְזָבְחוּ זִבְחֵי שְׁלָמִים לַיהוָה אוֹתָם׃Lemaan asher yaviau bené Yisrael et-zivcheihem asher hem zovechim al-pené hassade veheviaum lAdonai el-petach ohel moed el-hakohen vezavechu zivché shelamim lAdonai otam.This is in order that the Israelites may bring the sacrifices which they have been making in the open — that they may bring them before the LORD, to the priest, at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, and offer them as sacrifices of well-being to the LORD;
17:6וְזָרַק הַכֹּהֵן אֶת־הַדָּם עַל־מִזְבַּח יְהוָה פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד וְהִקְטִיר הַחֵלֶב לְרֵיחַ נִיחֹחַ לַיהוָה׃Vezarak hakohen et-haddam al-mizbach Adonai petach ohel moed vehiktir hachelev lereach nichoach lAdonai.that the priest may dash the blood against the altar of the LORD at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, and turn the fat into smoke as a pleasing odor to the LORD;
17:7וְלֹא־יִזְבְּחוּ עוֹד אֶת־זִבְחֵיהֶם לַשְּׂעִירִם אֲשֶׁר הֵם זֹנִים אַחֲרֵיהֶם חֻקַּת עוֹלָם תִּהְיֶה־זֹּאת לָהֶם לְדֹרֹתָם׃Velo-yizbechu od et-zivcheihem lasseirim asher hem zonim achareihem chukkat olam tihye-zot lahem ledorotam.and that they may offer their sacrifices no more to the goat-demons after whom they stray. This shall be to them a law for all time throughout the ages.

17:8וַאֲלֵיהֶם תֹּאמַר אִישׁ אִישׁ מִבֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל וּמִן־הַגֵּר אֲשֶׁר־יָגוּר בְּתוֹכָם אֲשֶׁר־יַעֲלֶה עֹלָה אוֹ־זָבַח׃Vaaleihem tomar ish ish mibbeit Yisrael umin-hagger asher-yagur betocham asher-yaale ola o-zavach.Say to them further: If anyone of the house of Israel or of the strangers who reside among them offers a burnt offering or a sacrifice,
17:9וְאֶל־פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד לֹא יְבִיאֶנּוּ לַעֲשׂוֹת אֹתוֹ לַיהוָה וְנִכְרַת הָאִישׁ הַהוּא מֵעַמָּיו׃Veel-petach ohel moed lo yeviennu laassot oto lAdonai venichrat haish hahu meammav.and does not bring it to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting to offer it to the LORD, that person shall be cut off from his people.
17:10וְאִישׁ אִישׁ מִבֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל וּמִן־הַגֵּר הַגָּר בְּתוֹכָם אֲשֶׁר יֹאכַל כָּל־דָּם וְנָתַתִּי פָנַי בַּנֶּפֶשׁ הָאֹכֶלֶת אֶת־הַדָּם וְהִכְרַתִּי אֹתָהּ מִקֶּרֶב עַמָּהּ׃Veish ish mibbeit Yisrael umin-hagger haggar betocham asher yokhal kol-dam venatatti fanai bannefesh haochelet et-haddam vehichratti otah mikkererev ammah.And if anyone of the house of Israel or of the strangers who reside among them partakes of any blood, I will set My face against the person who partakes of the blood, and I will cut him off from among his people.
17:11כִּי נֶפֶשׁ הַבָּשָׂר בַּדָּם הִיא וַאֲנִי נְתַתִּיו לָכֶם עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּחַ לְכַפֵּר עַל־נַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶם כִּי־הַדָּם הוּא בַּנֶּפֶשׁ יְכַפֵּר׃Ki nefesh habasar baddam hi vaani netattiv lachem al-hammizbeach lechapper al-nafshoteichem ki-haddam hu bannefesh yechapper.For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have assigned it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your lives; for it is the blood that atones by powers of the life.
17:12עַל־כֵּן אָמַרְתִּי לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל כָּל־נֶפֶשׁ מִכֶּם לֹא־תֹאכַל דָּם וְהַגֵּר הַגָּר בְּתוֹכְכֶם לֹא־יֹאכַל דָּם׃Al-ken amarti livné Yisrael kol-nefesh mikem lo-tokhal dam vehagger haggar betochechem lo-yokhal dam.Therefore I say to the Israelite people: No person among you shall partake of blood, nor shall the stranger who resides among you partake of blood.
17:13וְאִישׁ אִישׁ מִבְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וּמִן־הַגֵּר הַגָּר בְּתוֹכָם אֲשֶׁר יָצוּד צֵיד חַיָּה אוֹ־עוֹף אֲשֶׁר יֵאָכֵל וְשָׁפַךְ אֶת־דָּמוֹ וְכִסָּהוּ בֶּעָפָר׃Veish ish mibbené Yisrael umin-hagger haggar betocham asher yatzud tzeid chayyah o-of asher yeachel veshafakh et-damo vekhissahu beafar.If any Israelite or any stranger who resides among them hunts down an animal or a bird that may be eaten, he shall pour out its blood and cover it with earth.
17:14כִּי־נֶפֶשׁ כָּל־בָּשָׂר דָּמוֹ בְנֶפְשׁוֹ הוּא וָאֹמַר לִבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל דַּם כָּל־בָּשָׂר לֹא תֹאכֵלוּ כִּי נֶפֶשׁ כָּל־בָּשָׂר דָּמוֹ הִיא כָּל־אֹכְלָיו יִכָּרֵת׃Ki-nefesh kol-basar damo venefsho hu vaomar livné Yisrael dam kol-basar lo tochelu ki nefesh kol-basar damo hi kol-ochlav yicharet.For the life of all flesh — its blood is its life. Therefore I say to the Israelite people: You shall not partake of the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood; anyone who partakes of it shall be cut off.
17:15וְכָל־נֶפֶשׁ אֲשֶׁר תֹּאכַל נְבֵלָה וּטְרֵפָה בָּאֶזְרָח וּבַגֵּר וְכִבֶּס בְּגָדָיו וְרָחַץ בַּמַּיִם וְטָמֵא עַד־הָעֶרֶב וְטָהֵר׃Vechol-nefesh asher tokhal nevela utrefa baezrach uvagger vechibbes begadav verachatz bammayim vetame ad-haerev vetaher.Any person, whether citizen or stranger, who eats what has died or what has been torn by beasts shall wash his clothes, bathe in water, and remain impure until evening; then he shall be pure.
17:16וְאִם לֹא יְכַבֵּס וּבְשָׂרוֹ לֹא יִרְחָץ וְנָשָׂא עֲוֺנוֹ׃Veim lo yechabbes uvesaro lo yirchatz venasa avono.But if he does not wash his clothes and bathe his body, he shall bear his guilt.
18:1וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל־מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר׃Vayedaber Adonai el-Moshe lemor.The LORD spoke to Moses, saying:
18:2דַּבֵּר אֶל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵיהֶם אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם׃Daber el-bené Yisrael veamarta aleihem Ani Adonai Eloheichem.Speak to the Israelite people and say to them: I the LORD am your God.
18:3כְּמַעֲשֵׂה אֶרֶץ־מִצְרַיִם אֲשֶׁר יְשַׁבְתֶּם־בָּהּ לֹא תַעֲשׂוּ וּכְמַעֲשֵׂה אֶרֶץ־כְּנַעַן אֲשֶׁר אֲנִי מֵבִיא אֶתְכֶם שָׁמָּה לֹא תַעֲשׂוּ וּבְחֻקֹּתֵיהֶם לֹא תֵלֵכוּ׃Kemaase eretz-Mitzrayim asher yeshavtem-bah lo taassu uchemaase eretz-Kenaan asher ani mevi etchem shamma lo taassu uvechukkoteihem lo telechu.You shall not copy the practices of the land of Egypt where you dwelt, or of the land of Canaan to which I am taking you; nor shall you follow their laws.
18:4אֶת־מִשְׁפָּטַי תַּעֲשׂוּ וְאֶת־חֻקֹּתַי תִּשְׁמְרוּ לָלֶכֶת בָּהֶם אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם׃Et-mishpatai taassu veet-chukkotai tishmoru lalechet bahem Ani Adonai Eloheichem.My rules alone shall you observe, and My laws alone shall you faithfully follow: I the LORD am your God.
18:5וּשְׁמַרְתֶּם אֶת־חֻקֹּתַי וְאֶת־מִשְׁפָּטַי אֲשֶׁר יַעֲשֶׂה אֹתָם הָאָדָם וָחַי בָּהֶם אֲנִי יְהוָה׃Ushmartem et-chukkotai veet-mishpatai asher yaase otam haadam vachai bahem Ani Adonai.You shall keep My laws and My rules, by the pursuit of which man shall live: I am the LORD.
18:6אִישׁ אִישׁ אֶל־כָּל־שְׁאֵר בְּשָׂרוֹ לֹא תִקְרְבוּ לְגַלּוֹת עֶרְוָה אֲנִי יְהוָה׃Ish ish el-kol-sheer besaro lo tikrevu legalot erva Ani Adonai.None of you shall come near anyone of his own flesh to uncover nakedness: I am the LORD.
18:7עֶרְוַת אָבִיךָ וְעֶרְוַת אִמְּךָ לֹא תְגַלֵּה אִמְּךָ הִיא לֹא תְגַלֵּה עֶרְוָתָהּ׃Ervat avicha veervat immecha lo tegalle immecha hi lo tegalle ervatah.Your father’s nakedness, that is, the nakedness of your mother, you shall not uncover; she is your mother — you shall not uncover her nakedness.
18:8עֶרְוַת אֵשֶׁת־אָבִיךָ לֹא תְגַלֵּה עֶרְוַת אָבִיךָ הִיא׃Ervat eshet-avicha lo tegalle ervat avicha hi.Do not uncover the nakedness of your father’s wife; it is the nakedness of your father.
18:9עֶרְוַת אֲחוֹתְךָ בַת־אָבִיךָ אוֹ בַת־אִמֶּךָ מוֹלֶדֶת בַּיִת אוֹ מוֹלֶדֶת חוּץ לֹא תְגַלֵּה עֶרְוָתָן׃Ervat achotecha vat-avicha o vat-immecha moledet bayit o moledet chutz lo tegalle ervatan.The nakedness of your sister — your father’s daughter or your mother’s, whether she was born into the household or outside — do not uncover their nakedness.
18:10עֶרְוַת בַּת־בִּנְךָ אוֹ בַת־בִּתְּךָ לֹא תְגַלֵּה עֶרְוָתָן כִּי עֶרְוָתְךָ הֵנָּה׃Ervat bat-bincha o bat-bittecha lo tegalle ervatan ki ervatecha henna.The nakedness of your son’s daughter or of your daughter’s daughter — do not uncover their nakedness; for their nakedness is yours.
18:11עֶרְוַת בַּת־אֵשֶׁת אָבִיךָ מוֹלֶדֶת אָבִיךָ אֲחוֹתְךָ הִיא לֹא תְגַלֵּה עֶרְוָתָהּ׃Ervat bat-eshet avicha moledet avicha achotecha hi lo tegalle ervatah.The nakedness of your father’s wife’s daughter, who was born into your father’s household — she is your sister; do not uncover her nakedness.
18:12עֶרְוַת אֲחוֹת־אָבִיךָ לֹא תְגַלֵּה שְׁאֵר אָבִיךָ הִיא׃Ervat achot-avicha lo tegalle sheer avicha hi.Do not uncover the nakedness of your father’s sister; she is your father’s flesh-and-blood.
18:13עֶרְוַת אֲחוֹת־אִמְּךָ לֹא תְגַלֵּה כִּי־שְׁאֵר אִמְּךָ הִיא׃Ervat achot-immecha lo tegalle ki-sheer immecha hi.Do not uncover the nakedness of your mother’s sister; for she is your mother’s flesh-and-blood.
18:14עֶרְוַת אֲחִי־אָבִיךָ לֹא תְגַלֵּה אֶל־אִשְׁתּוֹ לֹא תִקְרָב דֹּדָתְךָ הִיא׃Ervat achi-avicha lo tegalle el-ishtto lo tikrav dodatecha hi.Do not uncover the nakedness of your father’s brother: do not approach his wife; she is your aunt.
18:15עֶרְוַת כַּלָּתְךָ לֹא תְגַלֵּה אֵשֶׁת בִּנְךָ הִיא לֹא תְגַלֵּה עֶרְוָתָהּ׃Ervat kallatecha lo tegalle eshet bincha hi lo tegalle ervatah.Do not uncover the nakedness of your daughter-in-law: she is your son’s wife; do not uncover her nakedness.
18:16עֶרְוַת אֵשֶׁת־אָחִיךָ לֹא תְגַלֵּה עֶרְוַת אָחִיךָ הִיא׃Ervat eshet-achicha lo tegalle ervat achicha hi.Do not uncover the nakedness of your brother’s wife; it is the nakedness of your brother.
18:17עֶרְוַת אִשָּׁה וּבִתָּה לֹא תְגַלֵּה אֶת־בַּת־בְּנָהּ וְאֶת־בַּת־בִּתָּהּ לֹא תִקַּח לְגַלּוֹת עֶרְוָתָהּ שַׁאֲרָה הֵנָּה זִמָּה הִיא׃Ervat ishsha uvittah lo tegalle et-bat-binah veet-bat-bittah lo tikkach legalot ervatah shaarah henna zimmah hi.Do not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter; nor shall you marry her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter and uncover her nakedness: they are kindred; it is depravity.
18:18וְאִשָּׁה אֶל־אֲחֹתָהּ לֹא תִקָּח לִצְרֹר לְגַלּוֹת עֶרְוָתָהּ עָלֶיהָ בְּחַיֶּיהָ׃Veishsha el-achottah lo tikkach litzror legalot ervatah aleiha bechaiyeiha.Do not marry a woman as a rival to her sister and uncover her nakedness in the other’s lifetime.
18:19וְאֶל־אִשָּׁה בְּנִדַּת טֻמְאָתָהּ לֹא תִקְרַב לְגַלּוֹת עֶרְוָתָהּ׃Veel-ishsha beniddat tumatah lo tikrav legalot ervatah.Do not come near a woman during her period of uncleanness to uncover her nakedness.
18:20וְאֶל־אֵשֶׁת עֲמִיתְךָ לֹא־תִתֵּן שְׁכָבְתְּךָ לְזָרַע לְטָמְאָה־בָהּ׃Veel-eshet amitecha lo-titten shechavtecha lezara letama-vah.Do not have carnal relations with your neighbor’s wife and defile yourself with her.
18:21וּמִזַּרְעֲךָ לֹא־תִתֵּן לְהַעֲבִיר לַמֹּלֶךְ וְלֹא תְחַלֵּל אֶת־שֵׁם אֱלֹהֶיךָ אֲנִי יְהוָה׃Umizzarchu lo-titten lehaavir la-Molech velo techallel et-shem Elohecha Ani Adonai.Do not allow any of your offspring to be offered up to Molech, nor shall you profane the name of your God: I am the LORD.

18:23וּבְכָל־בְּהֵמָה לֹא־תִתֵּן שְׁכָבְתְּךָ לְטָמְאָה־בָהּ וְאִשָּׁה לֹא־תַעֲמֹד לִפְנֵי בְהֵמָה לְרִבְעָהּ תֶּבֶל הוּא׃Uvchol-behema lo-titten shechavtecha letama-vah veishsha lo-taamod lifné behema lerivah tevel hu.Do not have carnal relations with any beast and defile yourself with it; and no woman shall yield herself to a beast to mate with it; it is perversion.
18:24אַל־תִּטַּמְּאוּ בְּכָל־אֵלֶּה כִּי בְכָל־אֵלֶּה נִטְמְאוּ הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר־אֲנִי מְשַׁלֵּחַ מִפְּנֵיכֶם׃Al-tittam-u bechol-elle ki vechol-elle nitm-u haggoyim asher-ani meshalléach mipneichem.Do not defile yourselves in any of those ways, for it is by such that the nations that I am casting out before you defiled themselves.
18:25וַתִּטְמָא הָאָרֶץ וָאֶפְקֹד עֲוֺנָהּ עָלֶיהָ וַתָּקִא הָאָרֶץ אֶת־יֹשְׁבֶיהָ׃Vattitma haaretz vaefkod avonah aleiha vattaki haaretz et-yosheveiha.Thus the land became defiled; and I called it to account for its iniquity, and the land spewed out its inhabitants.
18:26וּשְׁמַרְתֶּם אַתֶּם אֶת־חֻקֹּתַי וְאֶת־מִשְׁפָּטַי וְלֹא תַעֲשׂוּ מִכֹּל הַתּוֹעֵבֹת הָאֵלֶּה הָאֶזְרָח וְהַגֵּר הַגָּר בְּתוֹכְכֶם׃Ushmartem attem et-chukkotai veet-mishpatai velo taassu mikol hattoevot haelle haezrach vehagger haggar betochechem.But you must keep My laws and My rules, and you must not do any of those abhorrent things, neither the citizen nor the stranger who resides among you;
18:27כִּי אֶת־כָּל־הַתּוֹעֵבֹת הָאֵלֶּה עָשׂוּ אַנְשֵׁי־הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר לִפְנֵיכֶם וַתִּטְמָא הָאָרֶץ׃Ki et-kol-hattoevot haelle asu anshé-haaretz asher lifneichem vattitma haaretz.for all those abhorrent things were done by the people who were in the land before you, and the land became defiled.
18:28וְלֹא־תָקִיא הָאָרֶץ אֶתְכֶם בְּטַמַּאֲכֶם אֹתָהּ כַּאֲשֶׁר קָאָה אֶת־הַגּוֹי אֲשֶׁר לִפְנֵיכֶם׃Velo-taki haaretz etchem betammaachem otah kaasher kaa et-haggoy asher lifneichem.So let not the land spew you out for defiling it, as it spewed out the nation that came before you.
18:29כִּי כָּל־אֲשֶׁר יַעֲשֶׂה מִכֹּל הַתּוֹעֵבֹת הָאֵלֶּה וְנִכְרְתוּ הַנְּפָשׁוֹת הָעֹשֹׂת מִקֶּרֶב עַמָּם׃Ki kol-asher yaase mikol hattoevot haelle venichretu hannefashot haosot mikkererev ammam.All who do any of those abhorrent things—such persons shall be cut off from their people.

19:1וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל־מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר׃Vayedaber Adonai el-Moshe lemor.The LORD spoke to Moses, saying:
19:2דַּבֵּר אֶל־כָּל־עֲדַת בְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵיהֶם קְדֹשִׁים תִּהְיוּ כִּי קָדוֹשׁ אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם׃Daber el-kol-adat bené Yisrael veamarta aleihem kedoshim tihyu ki kadosh Ani Adonai Eloheichem.Speak to the whole Israelite community and say to them: You shall be holy, for I, the LORD your God, am holy.
19:3אִישׁ אִמּוֹ וְאָבִיו תִּירָאוּ וְאֶת־שַׁבְּתֹתַי תִּשְׁמֹרוּ אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם׃Ish immo veaviv tira-u veet-shabbetotai tishmoru Ani Adonai Eloheichem.You shall each revere his mother and his father, and keep My sabbaths: I the LORD am your God.
19:4אַל־תִּפְנוּ אֶל־הָאֱלִילִם וֵאלֹהֵי מַסֵּכָה לֹא תַעֲשׂוּ לָכֶם אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם׃Al-tifnu el-haelilim velohe massecha lo taassu lachem Ani Adonai Eloheichem.Do not turn to idols or make molten gods for yourselves: I the LORD am your God.
19:5וְכִי תִזְבְּחוּ זֶבַח שְׁלָמִים לַיהוָה לִרְצֹנְכֶם תִּזְבָּחֻהוּ׃Vechi tizbechu zevach shelamim lAdonai lirtzonechem tizbachuhu.When you sacrifice an offering of well-being to the LORD, sacrifice it so that it may be accepted on your behalf.
19:6בְּיוֹם זִבְחֲכֶם יֵאָכֵל וּמִמָּחֳרָת וְהַנּוֹתָר עַד־יוֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁי בָּאֵשׁ יִשָּׂרֵף׃Beyom zivchachem yeachel umimmachorat vehannotar ad-yom hashlishi vaesh yissaref.It shall be eaten on the day you sacrifice it, or on the day following; what is left by the third day must be consumed in fire.
19:7וְאִם הֵאָכֹל יֵאָכֵל בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁי פִּגּוּל הוּא לֹא יֵרָצֶה׃Veim heachel yeachel bayom hashlishi piggul hu lo yeratze.If it should be eaten on the third day, it is an offensive thing, it will not be acceptable.
19:8וְאֹכְלָיו עֲוֺנוֹ יִשָּׂא כִּי־אֶת־קֹדֶשׁ יְהוָה חִלֵּל וְנִכְרְתָה הַנֶּפֶשׁ הַהִיא מֵעַמֶּיהָ׃Veochlav avono yissa ki-et-kodesh Adonai chillel venichreta hannefesh hahi meammeiha.And he who eats of it shall bear his guilt, for he has profaned what is sacred to the LORD; that person shall be cut off from his kin.
19:9וּבְקֻצְרְכֶם אֶת־קְצִיר אַרְצְכֶם לֹא תְכַלֶּה פְּאַת שָׂדְךָ לִקְצֹר וְלֶקֶט קְצִירְךָ לֹא תְלַקֵּט׃Uv-kutzrechem et-ketzir artzechem lo techalle peat sadecha liktzor veleket ketzircha lo telakket.When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap all the way to the edges of your field, or gather the gleanings of your harvest.
19:10וְכַרְמְךָ לֹא תְעוֹלֵל וּפֶרֶט כַּרְמְךָ לֹא תְלַקֵּט לֶעָנִי וְלַגֵּר תַּעֲזֹב אֹתָם אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם׃Vecharmekha lo teolel uferet karmekha lo telakket leani velagger taazov otam Ani Adonai Eloheichem.You shall not pick your vineyard bare, or gather the fallen fruit of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and the stranger: I the LORD am your God.
19:11לֹא תִּגְנֹבוּ וְלֹא־תְכַחֲשׁוּ וְלֹא־תְשַׁקְּרוּ אִישׁ בַּעֲמִיתוֹ׃Lo tignovu velo-techachashu velo-teshakkeru ish beamito.You shall not steal; you shall not dissemble or lie to one another.
19:12וְלֹא־תִשָּׁבְעוּ בִשְׁמִי לַשָּׁקֶר וְחִלַּלְתָּ אֶת־שֵׁם אֱלֹהֶיךָ אֲנִי יְהוָה׃Velo-tishavu vishmi lassaker vechillalta et-shem Eloheicha Ani Adonai.You shall not swear falsely by My name, profaning the name of your God: I am the LORD.
19:13לֹא־תַעֲשֹׁק אֶת־רֵעֲךָ וְלֹא תִגְזֹל לֹא־תָלִין פְּעֻלַּת שָׂכִיר אִתְּךָ עַד־בֹּקֶר׃Lo-taashok et-reecha velo tigzol lo-talin peullat sachir ittecha ad-boker.You shall not defraud your fellow. You shall not commit robbery. The wages of a laborer shall not remain with you until morning.

19:16לֹא־תֵלֵךְ רָכִיל בְּעַמֶּיךָ לֹא תַעֲמֹד עַל־דַּם רֵעֶךָ אֲנִי יְהוָה׃Lo-telech rachil beammecha lo taamod al-dam reecha Ani Adonai.Do not deal basely with your countrymen. Do not profit by the blood of your neighbor: I am the LORD.
19:17לֹא־תִשְׂנָא אֶת־אָחִיךָ בִּלְבָבֶךָ הוֹכֵחַ תּוֹכִיחַ אֶת־עֲמִיתֶךָ וְלֹא־תִשָּׂא עָלָיו חֵטְא׃Lo-tisna et-achicha bilvavecha hocheach tochiach et-amitecha velo-tissa alav chet.You shall not hate your kinsman in your heart. Reprove your kinsman but incur no guilt because of him.
19:18לֹא־תִקֹּם וְלֹא־תִטֹּר אֶת־בְּנֵי עַמֶּךָ וְאָהַבְתָּ לְרֵעֲךָ כָּמוֹךָ אֲנִי יְהוָה׃Lo-tikkom velo-tittor et-bené ammecha veahavta lereecha kamocha Ani Adonai.You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against your countrymen. Love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.
19:19אֶת־חֻקֹּתַי תִּשְׁמֹרוּ בְּהֶמְתְּךָ לֹא־תַרְבִּיעַ כִּלְאַיִם שָׂדְךָ לֹא־תִזְרַע כִּלְאָיִם וּבֶגֶד כִּלְאַיִם שַׁעַטְנֵז לֹא יַעֲלֶה עָלֶיךָ׃Et-chukkotai tishmoru behemtecha lo-tarbia kilayim sadecha lo-tizra kilayim uveged kilayim shaatnez lo yaale aleicha.You shall observe My laws. You shall not let your cattle mate with a different kind; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed; you shall not put on cloth from a mixture of two kinds of material.
19:20וְאִישׁ כִּי־יִשְׁכַּב אֶת־אִשָּׁה שִׁכְבַת־זֶרַע וְהִיא שִׁפְחָה נֶחֱרֶפֶת לְאִישׁ וְהָפְדֵּה לֹא נִפְדָּתָה אוֹ חֻפְשָׁה לֹא נִתַּן־לָהּ בִּקֹּרֶת תִּהְיֶה לֹא יוּמְתוּ כִּי־לֹא חֻפָּשָׁה׃Veish ki-yishkav et-ishsha shikvat-zera vehi shifcha necherefet leish vehofde lo nifdata o chufsha lo nittan-la bikkoret tihye lo yumtu ki-lo chuppasha.If a man has carnal relations with a woman who is a slave and has been designated for another man, but has not been redeemed or given her freedom, there shall be an investigation; they shall not be put to death, because she has not been freed.
19:21וְהֵבִיא אֶת־אֲשָׁמוֹ לַיהוָה אֶל־פֶּתַח אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד אֵיל אָשָׁם׃Vehevi et-ashamo lAdonai el-petach ohel moed eyil asham.But he shall bring to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, as his guilt offering to the LORD, a ram of guilt offering.
19:22וְכִפֶּר עָלָיו הַכֹּהֵן בְּאֵיל הָאָשָׁם לִפְנֵי יְהוָה עַל־חַטָּאתוֹ אֲשֶׁר חָטָא וְנִסְלַח לוֹ מֵחַטָּאתוֹ אֲשֶׁר חָטָא׃Vechipper alav hakohen be-eyil haasham lifné Adonai al-chattato asher chata venislach lo mechattato asher chata.The priest shall make expiation for him with the ram of guilt offering before the LORD for the sin that he committed; and the sin that he committed shall be forgiven him.
19:23וְכִי־תָבֹאוּ אֶל־הָאָרֶץ וּנְטַעְתֶּם כָּל־עֵץ מַאֲכָל וַעֲרַלְתֶּם עָרְלָתוֹ אֶת־פִּרְיוֹ שָׁלֹשׁ שָׁנִים יִהְיֶה לָכֶם עֲרֵלִים לֹא יֵאָכֵל׃Vechi-tavo-u el-haaretz unetatem kol-etz maachal vaaraltem orlato et-piryo shalosh shanim yihye lachem arelim lo yeachel.When you enter the land and plant any tree for food, you shall regard its fruit as forbidden. Three years it shall be forbidden to you, not to be eaten.
19:24וּבַשָּׁנָה הָרְבִיעִת יִהְיֶה כָּל־פִּרְיוֹ קֹדֶשׁ הִלּוּלִים לַיהוָה׃Uvashana harevit yihye kol-piryo kodesh hillulim lAdonai.In the fourth year all its fruit shall be set aside for jubilation before the LORD;
19:25וּבַשָּׁנָה הַחֲמִישִׁית תֹּאכְלוּ אֶת־פִּרְיוֹ לְהוֹסִיף לָכֶם תְּבוּאָתוֹ אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם׃Uvashana hachamishit tochelu et-piryo lehosif lachem tevuato Ani Adonai Eloheichem.and only in the fifth year may you use its fruit—that its yield to you may be increased: I the LORD am your God.
19:26לֹא תֹאכְלוּ עַל־הַדָּם לֹא תְנַחֲשׁוּ וְלֹא תְעוֹנֵנוּ׃Lo tochelu al-haddam lo tenachashu velo teonenu.You shall not eat anything with its blood. You shall not practice divination or soothsaying.
19:27לֹא תַקִּפוּ פְּאַת רֹאשְׁכֶם וְלֹא תַשְׁחִית אֵת פְּאַת זְקָנֶךָ׃Lo takkifu peat roshechem velo tashchit et peat zekanecha.You shall not round off the side-growth on your heads, or destroy the side-growth of your beard.
19:28וְשֶׂרֶט לָנֶפֶשׁ לֹא תִתְּנוּ בִּבְשָׂרְכֶם וּכְתֹבֶת קַעֲקַע לֹא תִתְּנוּ בָּכֶם אֲנִי יְהוָה׃Veseret lanefesh lo tittenu bivsarchem uchtovet kaaka lo tittenu bachem Ani Adonai.You shall not make gashes in your flesh for the dead, or incise any marks on yourselves: I am the LORD.
19:29אַל־תְּחַלֵּל אֶת־בִּתְּךָ לְהַזְנוֹתָהּ וְלֹא־תִזְנֶה הָאָרֶץ וּמָלְאָה הָאָרֶץ זִמָּה׃Al-techallel et-bittecha lehaznota velo-tizne haaretz umala haaretz zimma.Do not degrade your daughter and make her a harlot, lest the land fall into harlotry and the land be filled with depravity.
19:30אֶת־שַׁבְּתֹתַי תִּשְׁמֹרוּ וּמִקְדָּשִׁי תִּירָאוּ אֲנִי יְהוָה׃Et-shabbetotai tishmoru umikdashi tira-u Ani Adonai.You shall keep My sabbaths and venerate My sanctuary: I am the LORD.
19:31אַל־תִּפְנוּ אֶל־הָאֹבֹת וְאֶל־הַיִּדְּעֹנִים אַל־תְּבַקְשׁוּ לְטָמְאָה בָהֶם אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם׃Al-tifnu el-haovot veel-hayiddeonim al-tevakshu letama vahem Ani Adonai Eloheichem.Do not turn to ghosts and do not inquire of familiar spirits, to be defiled by them: I the LORD am your God.
19:32מִפְּנֵי שֵׂיבָה תָּקוּם וְהָדַרְתָּ פְּנֵי זָקֵן וְיָרֵאתָ מֵּאֱלֹהֶיךָ אֲנִי יְהוָה׃Mifné seva takum vehadarta pené zaken veyareta me-Eloheicha Ani Adonai.You shall rise before the aged and show deference to the old; you shall fear your God: I am the LORD.

19:36 מֹאזְנֵי צֶדֶק אַבְנֵי־צֶדֶק אֵיפַת צֶדֶק וְהִין צֶדֶק יִהְיֶה לָכֶם אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם אֲשֶׁר־הוֹצֵאתִי אֶתְכֶם מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם׃ Mozné-tzedek avné-tzedek efat-tzedek vehin-tzedek yihye lachem Ani Adonai Eloheichem asher-hotzeti etchem me-eretz mitzrayim. You shall have honest scales, honest weights, an honest ephah, and an honest hin. I the LORD am your God who freed you from the land of Egypt.
19:37 וּשְׁמַרְתֶּם אֶת־כָּל־חֻקֹּתַי וְאֶת־כָּל־מִשְׁפָּטַי וַעֲשִׂיתֶם אֹתָם אֲנִי יְהוָה׃ Ushmartem et-kol-chukkotai ve-et-kol-mishpatai vaassitem otam Ani Adonai. You shall faithfully observe all My laws and all My rules: I am the LORD.
20:1 וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל־מֹשֶׁה לֵּאמֹר׃ Vayedaber Adonai el-Moshe lemor. The LORD spoke to Moses, saying:
20:2 וְאֶל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל תֹּאמַר אִישׁ אִישׁ מִבְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וּמִן־הַגֵּר הַגָּר בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר יִתֵּן מִזַּרְעוֹ לַמֹּלֶךְ מוֹת יוּמָת עַם הָאָרֶץ יִרְגְּמֻהוּ בָאָבֶן׃ Ve-el-bené Yisrael tomar ish ish mibbené Yisrael umin-hagger haggar be-Yisrael asher yitten mizzaro la-Molech mot yumat am ha-aretz yirgemuhu va-aven. Say further to the Israelite people: Anyone among the Israelites, or among the strangers residing in Israel, who gives any of his offspring to Molech, shall be put to death; the people of the land shall pelt him with stones.
20:3 וַאֲנִי אֶתֵּן אֶת־פָּנַי בָּאִישׁ הַהוּא וְהִכְרַתִּי אֹתוֹ מִקֶּרֶב עַמּוֹ כִּי מִזַּרְעוֹ נָתַן לַמֹּלֶךְ לְמַעַן טַמֵּא אֶת־מִקְדָּשִׁי וּלְחַלֵּל אֶת־שֵׁם קָדְשִׁי׃ Vaani etten et-panai ba-ish ha-hu vehichratti oto mikkererev ammo ki mizzaro nattan la-Molech lemaan tammé et-mikdashi ulchallel et-shem kodshi. And I will set My face against that person and cut him off from among his people, because he gave of his offspring to Molech and so defiled My sanctuary and profaned My holy name.
20:4 וְאִם הַעְלֵם יַעְלִימוּ עַם הָאָרֶץ אֶת־עֵינֵיהֶם מִן־הָאִישׁ הַהוּא בְּתִתּוֹ מִזַּרְעוֹ לַמֹּלֶךְ לְבִלְתִּי הָמִית אֹתוֹ׃ Ve-im ha-lem ya-limu am ha-aretz et-enéhem min-ha-ish ha-hu betitto mizzaro la-Molech levilti hamit oto. And if the people of the land should shut their eyes to that person when he gives of his offspring to Molech, and should not put him to death,
20:5 וְשַׂמְתִּי אֲנִי אֶת־פָּנַי בָּאִישׁ הַהוּא וּבְמִשְׁפַּחְתּוֹ וְהִכְרַתִּי אֹתוֹ וְאֵת כָּל־הַזֹּנִים אַחֲרָיו לִזְנוֹת אַחֲרֵי הַמֹּלֶךְ מִקֶּרֶב עַמָּם׃ Vesamti ani et-panai ba-ish ha-hu uv-mishpachto vehichratti oto ve-et kol-hazzonim acharav liznot acharé ha-Molech mikkererev ammam. I Myself will set My face against that person and his kin, and will cut off from among their people both him and all who follow him in going astray after Molech.
20:6 וְהַנֶּפֶשׁ אֲשֶׁר תִּפְנֶה אֶל־הָאֹבֹת וְאֶל־הַיִּדְּעֹנִים לִזְנוֹת אַחֲרֵיהֶם וְנָתַתִּי אֶת־פָּנַי בַּנֶּפֶשׁ הַהִיא וְהִכְרַתִּי אֹתוֹ מִקֶּרֶב עַמּוֹ׃ Vehannefesh asher tifne el-ha-ovot ve-el-hayiddeonim liznot acharéhem venatatti et-panai bannefesh ha-hi vehichratti oto mikkererev ammo. And if any person turns to ghosts and familiar spirits and goes astray after them, I will set My face against that person and cut him off from among his people.
20:7 וְהִתְקַדִּשְׁתֶּם וִהְיִיתֶם קְדֹשִׁים כִּי אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם׃ Vehitkaddishtem vihyitem kedoshim ki ani Adonai Eloheichem. You shall sanctify yourselves and be holy, for I the LORD am your God.

20:9 כִּי־אִישׁ אִישׁ אֲשֶׁר יְקַלֵּל אֶת־אָבִיו וְאֶת־אִמּוֹ מוֹת יוּמָת אָבִיו וְאִמּוֹ קִלֵּל דָּמָיו בּוֹ׃ Ki-ish ish asher yekallel et-aviv ve-et-immo mot yumat aviv ve-immo killel damav bo. If anyone insults his father or his mother, he shall be put to death; he has insulted his father and his mother—his bloodguilt is upon him.
20:10 וְאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר יִנְאַף אֶת־אִשֶׁת אִישׁ אֲשֶׁר יִנְאַף אֶת־אֵשֶׁת רֵעֵהוּ מוֹת־יוּמַת הַנֹּאֵף וְהַנֹּאָפֶת׃ Veish asher yinaf et-eshet ish asher yinaf et-eshet re-ehu mot-yumat hanno-ef vehanno-afet. If a man commits adultery with a married woman—committing adultery with another man’s wife—the adulterer and the adulteress shall be put to death.
20:11 וְאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר יִשְׁכַּב אֶת־אֵשֶׁת אָבִיו עֶרְוַת אָבִיו גִּלָּה מוֹת־יוּמְתוּ שְׁנֵיהֶם דְּמֵיהֶם בָּם׃ Veish asher yishkav et-eshet aviv ervat aviv gilla mot-yumtu shenehem demeihem bam. If a man lies with his father’s wife, it is the nakedness of his father that he has uncovered; both shall be put to death—their bloodguilt is upon them.
20:12 וְאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר יִשְׁכַּב אֶת־כַּלָּתוֹ מוֹת יוּמְתוּ שְׁנֵיהֶם תֶּבֶל עָשׂוּ דְּמֵיהֶם בָּם׃ Veish asher yishkav et-kallato mot yumtu shenehem tevel asu demeihem bam. If a man lies with his daughter-in-law, both shall be put to death; they have committed perversion—their bloodguilt is upon them.
20:13 וְאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר יִשְׁכַּב אֶת־זָכָר מִשְׁכְּבֵי אִשָּׁה תּוֹעֵבָה עָשׂוּ שְׁנֵיהֶם מוֹת יוּמְתוּ דְּמֵיהֶם בָּם׃ Veish asher yishkav et-zachar mishkeve ishsha to-eva asu shenehem mot yumtu demeihem bam. If a man lies with a male as one lies with a woman, the two of them have done an abhorrent thing; they shall be put to death—their bloodguilt is upon them.
20:14 וְאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר יִקַּח אֶת־אִשָּׁה וְאֶת־אִמָּהּ זִמָּה הִיא בָּאֵשׁ יִשְׂרְפוּ אֹתוֹ וְאֶתְהֶן וְלֹא־תִהְיֶה זִמָּה בְּתוֹכְכֶם׃ Veish asher yikkach et-ishsha ve-et-immah zimma hi baesh yisrefu oto ve-et-hen velo-tihye zimma betochechem. If a man marries a woman and her mother, it is depravity; both he and they shall be put to the fire, that there be no depravity among you.
20:15 וְאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר יִתֵּן שְׁכָבְתּוֹ בִּבְהֵמָה מוֹת יוּמָת וְאֶת־הַבְּהֵמָה תַּהֲרֹגוּ׃ Veish asher yitten shechavto bivhema mot yumat ve-et-habbehema taharogu. If a man has carnal relations with a beast, he shall be put to death; and you shall kill the beast.
20:16 וְאִשָּׁה אֲשֶׁר תִּקְרַב אֶל־כָּל־בְּהֵמָה לְרִבְעָה אֹתָהּ וְהָרַגְתָּ אֶת־הָאִשָּׁה וְאֶת־הַבְּהֵמָה מוֹת יוּמְתוּ דְּמֵיהֶם בָּם׃ Veishsha asher tikrav el-kol-behema leriva otah veharagta et-haishsha ve-et-habbehema mot yumtu demeihem bam. If a woman approaches any beast to mate with it, you shall kill the woman and the beast; they shall be put to death—their bloodguilt is upon them.
20:17 וְאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר־יִקַּח אֶת־אֲחֹתוֹ בַּת־אָבִיו אוֹ בַת־אִמּוֹ וְרָאָה אֶת־עֶרְוָתָהּ וְהִיא־תִרְאֶה אֶת־עֶרְוָתוֹ חֶסֶד הוּא וְנִכְרְתוּ לְעֵינֵי בְּנֵי עַמָּם עֶרְוַת אֲחֹתוֹ גִלָּה עֲוֺנוֹ יִשָּׂא׃ Veish asher-yikkach et-achoto vat-aviv o vat-immo vera-a et-ervatah vehi-tir-e et-ervato chesed hu venichretu le-ene bene ammam ervat achoto gilla avono yissa. If a man marries his sister, a daughter of either his father or his mother, so that he sees her nakedness and she sees his nakedness, it is a disgrace; they shall be excommunicated in the sight of their kinsfolk. He has uncovered the nakedness of his sister, he shall bear his guilt.
20:18 וְאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר־יִשְׁכַּב אֶת־אִשָּׁה דָּוָה וְגִלָּה אֶת־עֶרְוָתָהּ אֶת־מְקֹרָהּ הֶעֱרָה וְהִיא גִּלְּתָה אֶת־מְקוֹר דָּמֶיהָ וְנִכְרְתוּ שְׁנֵיהֶם מִקֶּרֶב עַמָּם׃ Veish asher-yishkav et-ishsha dava vegilla et-ervatah et-mekorah he-era vehi gillata et-mekor dameiha venichretu shenehem mikkererev ammam. If a man lies with a woman in her infirmity and uncovers her nakedness, he has laid bare her source and she has exposed the source of her blood; both of them shall be cut off from among their people.
20:19 וְעֶרְוַת אֲחוֹת אִמְּךָ וַאֲחוֹת אָבִיךָ לֹא תְגַלֵּה כִּי אֶת־שְׁאֵרוֹ הֶעֱרָה עֲוֺנָם יִשָּׂאוּ׃ Ve-ervat achot immecha vaachot avicha lo tegalle ki et-she-ero he-era avonam yissa-u. You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother’s sister or of your father’s sister, for that is laying bare one’s own flesh; they shall bear their guilt.
20:20 וְאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר יִשְׁכַּב אֶת־דֹּדָתוֹ עֶרְוַת דֹּדוֹ גִּלָּה חֶטְאָם יִשָּׂאוּ עֲרִירִים יָמֻתוּ׃ Veish asher yishkav et-dodato ervat dodo gilla chetam yissa-u aririm yamutu. If a man lies with his uncle’s wife, it is his uncle’s nakedness that he has uncovered. They shall bear their guilt: they shall die childless.
20:21 וְאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר יִקַּח אֶת־אֵשֶׁת אָחִיו נִדָּה הִיא עֶרְוַת אָחִיו גִּלָּה עֲרִירִים יִהְיוּ׃ Veish asher yikkach et-eshet achiv nidda hi ervat achiv gilla aririm yihyu. If a man marries his brother’s wife, it is indecency. It is the nakedness of his brother that he has uncovered; they shall remain childless.
20:22 וּשְׁמַרְתֶּם אֶת־כָּל־חֻקֹּתַי וְאֶת־כָּל־מִשְׁפָּטַי וַעֲשִׂיתֶם אֹתָם וְלֹא־תָקִיא אֶתְכֶם הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר אֲנִי מֵבִיא אֶתְכֶם שָׁמָּה לָשֶׁבֶת בָּהּ׃ Ushmartem et-kol-chukkotai ve-et-kol-mishpatai vaassitem otam velo-taki etchem ha-aretz asher ani mevi etchem shamma lashevet bah. You shall faithfully observe all My laws and all My regulations, lest the land to which I bring you to settle in spew you out.

So you shall set apart the clean beast from the unclean, the unclean bird from the clean. 20:26 וִהְיִיתֶם לִי קְדֹשִׁים כִּי קָדוֹשׁ אֲנִי יְהוָה וָאַבְדִּל אֶתְכֶם מִן־הָעַמִּים לִהְיוֹת לִי׃ Vihyitem li kedoshim ki kadosh Ani Adonai va-avdil etchem min-ha-ammim lihyot li. You shall be holy to Me, for I the LORD am holy; and I have set you apart from other peoples to be Mine.
20:27 וְאִישׁ אוֹ־אִשָּׁה כִּי־יִהְיֶה בָהֶם אוֹב אוֹ יִדְּעֹנִי מוֹת יוּמָתוּ בָּאֶבֶן יִרְגְּמוּ אֹתָם דְּמֵיהֶם בָּם׃ Veish o-ishsha ki-yihye vahem ov o yiddeoni mot yumatu ba-even yirgemu otam demeihem bam. A man or a woman who has a ghost or a familiar spirit shall be put to death; they shall be pelted with stones—their bloodguilt is upon them.

9:9כִּי הִנֵּה אָנֹכִי מְצַוֶּה וַהֲנִעוֹתִי בְכָל הַגּוֹיִם אֶת בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל כַּאֲשֶׁר יִנּוֹעַ בַּכְּבָרָה וְלֹא יִפּוֹל צְרוֹר אָרֶץ׃Ki hiné anochí mecawé wahaniótí bechol hagojím et béjt Jisraél, kaaszér jinnoá bakewará, weló jipól ceroer árec.Bo oto Ja nakazuję i będę przesiewał dom Izraela wśród wszystkich narodów, jak się przesiewa ziarno w sicie, ale ani jedno ziarenko nie spadnie na ziemię.
9:10בַּחֶרֶב יָמוּתוּ כֹּל חַטָּאֵי עַמִּי הָאֹמְרִים לֹא תַגִּישׁ וְלֹא תַקְדִּים בַּעֲדֵנוּ הָרָעָה׃Bachérew jamútu kol chataéj amí, haomrím: ló tagísz weló takdím baadénu haraá.Od miecza zginą wszyscy grzesznicy ludu mego, którzy mówią: Nieszczęście nie dosięgnie nas i nie nadejdzie.
9:11בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא אָקִים אֶת סֻכַּת דָּוִיד הַנֹּפֶלֶת וְגָדַרְתִּי אֶת פִּרְצֵיהֶן וַהֲרִסֹתָיו אָקִים וּבְנִיתִיהָ כִּימֵי עוֹלָם׃Bajóm haú akím et sukát Dawíd hanofélет wegadartí et pirceéhen waharisoráw akím uwnitiwáh kimej olám.W owym dniu podniosę upadły szałas Dawida, zaleję jego szczeliny, podniosę jego ruiny i odbuduję go jak w dawnych czasach.
9:12לְמַעַן יִירְשׁוּ אֶת שְׁאֵרִית אֱדוֹם וְכָל הַגּוֹיִם אֲשֶׁר נִקְרָא שְׁמִי עֲלֵיהֶם נְאֻם יְהוָה עֹשֶׂה זֹּאת׃Lemaán jirszu et szeérit Edóm wechol hagojím aszér nikrá szmí aleém neúm Adonaj osé zót.Aby odziedziczyli resztę Edomu i wszystkie narody, nad którymi wzywane jest imię moje — mówi Pan, który to czyni.
9:13הִנֵּה יָמִים בָּאִים נְאֻם יְהוָה וְנִגַּשׁ חוֹרֵשׁ בַּקֹּצֵר וְדֹרֵךְ עֲנָבִים בְּמֹשֵׁךְ הַזָּרַע וְהִטִּיפוּ הֶהָרִים עָסִיס וְכָל הַגְּבָעוֹת תִּתְמוֹגַגְנָה׃Hiné jamím baím neúm Adonaj, wenigász choréz bakocér wedoréch anavím bemoszéch hazará, wehitífu heharím asís wechol hagwéot titmoganná.Oto nadchodzą dni — mówi Pan — gdy oracz dogoni żniwiarza, a depczący winogrona siewcę; góry będą ociekać moszczem i wszystkie wzgórza rozpłyną się.
9:14וְשַׁבְתִּי אֶת שְׁבוּת עַמִּי יִשְׂרָאֵל וּבָנוּ עָרִים נְשַׁמּוֹת וְיָשָׁבוּ וְנָטְעוּ כְרָמִים וְשָׁתוּ אֶת יֵינָם וְעָשׂוּ גַנּוֹת וְאָכְלוּ אֶת פְּרִיהֶם׃Weszawtí et szewút amí Jisraél; uwanú arím neshamót wejaszawú, wenateú cheramím wesatú et jeinám, weasú ganót weachulú et periejém.Odmienię los ludu mego Izraela; odbudują spustoszone miasta i będą w nich mieszkać; posadzą winnice i będą pić ich wino; założą ogrody i będą jeść ich owoce.
9:15וּנְטַעְתִּים עַל אַדְמָתָם וְלֹא יִנָּתְשׁוּ עוֹד מֵעַל אַדְמָתָם אֲשֶׁר נָתַתִּי לָהֶם אָמַר יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ׃Unetativtim al admatám weló jinateszú od meál admatám aszér natatí lahém, amár Adonaj Eloécha.Zasadzę ich na ich ziemi i nie będą już więcej wyrwani z ziemi swojej, którą im dałem — mówi Pan, Bóg twój.
