| 1 |
|
Ashréi ha-ish asher lo halakh ba-atzat resha‘im;
u-ve-derekh khatta’im lo amad;
u-ve-moshav letzim lo yashav.
|
Blessed is the man who has not walked in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stood in the way of sinners,
nor sat in the seat of scoffers.
|
| 2 |
|
Ki im be-torat Adonai kheftzo;
u-ve-torato yehgeh yomam va-laylah.
|
But his delight is in the Torah of the LORD,
and in His Torah he meditates day and night.
|
| 3 |
|
Ve-hayah ke-etz shatul al palgei mayim;
asher piryo yitten be-itto;
ve-alehu lo yibbol;
ve-khol asher ya‘aseh yatzliakh.
|
He shall be like a tree planted by streams of water,
which gives its fruit in its season;
its leaf does not wither,
and all that he does shall prosper.
|
| 4 |
|
Lo khen ha-resha‘im;
ki im ka-motz asher tiddefennu ruakh.
|
Not so the wicked;
rather, they are like chaff that the wind drives away.
|
| 5 |
|
Al ken lo yakumu resha‘im ba-mishpat;
ve-khatta’im ba-adat tzaddikim.
|
Therefore the wicked shall not stand in judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
|
| 6 |
|
Ki yodea Adonai derekh tzaddikim;
ve-derekh resha‘im toved.
|
For the LORD knows the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked shall perish.
