1 בְּצֵאת יִשְׂרָאֵל מִמִּצְרָיִם בֵּית יַעֲקֹב מֵעַם לֹעֵז Be-tzét Yis-ra-él mi-Mitz-ra-yím; béit Ya-a-kóv me-am lo-éz. When Israel went out from Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language.
2 הָיְתָה יְהוּדָה לְקָדְשׁוֹ יִשְׂרָאֵל מַמְשְׁלוֹתָיו Ha-yé-tah Ye-hu-dáh le-kod-shó; Yis-ra-él mam-she-lo-táv. Judah became His sanctuary, Israel His dominion.
3 הַיָּם רָאָה וַיָּנֹס הַיַּרְדֵּן יִסֹּב לְאָחוֹר Ha-yám ra-áh va-ya-nós; ha-Yar-dén yi-sóv le-a-khór. The sea looked and fled; the Jordan turned back.
4 הֶהָרִים רָקְדוּ כְאֵילִים גְּבָעוֹת כִּבְנֵי־צֹאן He-ha-rím ra-ke-dú khe-e-lím; ge-va-ót ke-v-néi tzon. The mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs.
5 מַה־לְּךָ הַיָּם כִּי תָנוּס הַיַּרְדֵּן תִּסֹּב לְאָחוֹר Mah le-kha ha-yám ki ta-nús; ha-Yar-dén ti-sóv le-a-khór. What ails you, O sea, that you flee? O Jordan, that you turn back?
6 הֶהָרִים תִּרְקְדוּ כְאֵילִים גְּבָעוֹת כִּבְנֵי־צֹאן He-ha-rím tir-ke-dú khe-e-lím; ge-va-ót ke-v-néi tzon. O mountains, that you skip like rams? O hills, like lambs?
7 מִלִּפְנֵי אָדוֹן חוּלִי אָרֶץ מִלִּפְנֵי אֱלוֹהַּ יַעֲקֹב Mi-lif-néi a-dón khú-li a-rétz; mi-lif-néi E-lo-ah Ya-a-kóv. Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob.
8 הַהֹפְכִי הַצּוּר אֲגַם־מָיִם חַלָּמִישׁ לְמַעְיְנוֹ־מָיִם Ha-ho-fekh ha-tzur a-gám ma-yím; khal-la-mísh le-mo-tze-éi má-yim. Who turns the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a spring of water.
