A prayer of David. Hear, O Adonai, what is just; attend to my cry; give ear to my prayer from lips without deceit.
Millefanékha mishpatí yetsé', ’einékha tekhézinah meisharím. Let my vindication come forth from Your presence; let Your eyes behold what is upright.
Bakhánta libbí, paqádta laylah, tsaraftáni bal-timtsá', zammóti bal-ya’avár-pí. You have tried my heart; You have visited me in the night; You have tested me and found nothing; I have resolved that my mouth shall not transgress.
Lif’ullót adám, bidvár sefatékha aní shamárti orkhót paríts. As for the deeds of men, by the word of Your lips I have kept myself from the ways of the violent.
Tamókh ashúray bema’galotékha, bal-timmót ashúray. My steps have held to Your paths; my feet have not slipped.
Aní-qratíkha ki-ta’anéni El, hat-oznekhá li shemá’ imratí. I call upon You, for You answer me, O God; incline Your ear to me; hear my words.
Hafléh khasadékha, moshía khosím mimmitqomemím biminnékha. Show Your wondrous kindness, O Savior of those who seek refuge from their adversaries at Your right hand.
Shomréni ke’ishón bat-’áyin, betsél kenafékha tastiréni. Keep me as the apple of the eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings,
Mippené resha’ím zu shaddúni, oyeváy benéfesh yaqqífu ’aláy. from the wicked who despoil me, from my deadly enemies who surround me.
Khelbamó sagrú, pímou dibberú vegué’ut. They have closed their fat hearts; with their mouths they speak arrogantly.
Ashurénu ’attáh sevavúnu, ’einéhem yashítu lintót ba’árets. They have now encircled our steps; they fix their eyes to cast us to the ground.
Dimyonó ke’aryéh yikhsof litróf, vekhikhfír yoshév bammistárim. He is like a lion eager to tear, like a young lion lurking in ambush.
Arise, O Adonai; confront him; bring him down; deliver my soul from the wicked by Your sword,
מִמְּתִים יָדְךָ יהוה מִמְּתִים מֵחֶלֶד חֶלְקָם בַּחַיִּים וּצְפוּנְךָ תְמַלֵּא בִטְנָם יִשְׂבְּעוּ בָנִים וְהִנִּיחוּ יִתְרָם לְעוֹלְלֵיהֶם Mimmetím yadkha Adonai, mimmetím mekhélled khelqám bakhayyím, utsefunkhá temallé vitnám yisbe’ú vaním, vehinníkhu yitrám le’ol-leéhem. from men by Your hand, O Adonai, from men of the world whose portion is in this life. You fill their belly with Your treasure; they have many children and leave their abundance to their little ones.
Aní betsédeq ehézeh fanékha, esbe’áh vehaqíts temunatékha. As for me, I shall behold Your face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with Your likeness.
