| 1 | לְדָוִ֨ד | רִיבָ֣ה יְ֖הֹוָה אֶת־יְרִיבַ֑י לְ֜חַ֗ם אֶת־לֹֽחֲמָֽי: | Le-Da-víd. Rí-vah Ado-nái et ye-rí-vai; la-khém et lo-kha-m-ái. | Of David. Contend, O the LORD, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me! |
| 2 | הַחֲזֵק מָגֵן וְצִנָּה וְקוּמָה בְּעֶזְרָתִי | Ekhóz ma-gén va-tzi-n-náh; ve-kú-mah be-ez-ra-tí. | Take hold of shield and buckler and rise for my help! |
| 3 | וְהָרֵק חֲנִית וּסְגֹר לִקְרַאת רֹדְפָי אֱמֹר לְנַפְשִׁי יְשֻׁעָתֵךְ אָנִי | Ve-ha-rék kha-nít u-se-gor lif-néi ro-de-f-ái; e-mar le-naf-shí yesh-u-a-te-kha a-ní. | Draw the spear and javelin against my pursuers! Say to my soul, ‘I am your salvation!’ |
| 4 | יֵבֹשׁוּ וְיִכָּלְמוּ מְבַקְשֵׁי נַפְשִׁי יִסֹּגוּ אָחוֹר וְיַחְפְּרוּ חֹשְׁבֵי רָעָתִי | Ye-vo-shú ve-yikh-le-mú me-vak-shéi naf-shí; yi-sogú a-khór ve-yikh-pa-rú kho-she-véi ra-a-tí. | Let them be put to shame and dishonor who seek after my life! Let them be turned back and disappointed who devise evil against me! |
| 5 | יִהְיוּ כְּמֹץ לִפְנֵי־רוּחַ וּמַלְאַךְ יְהוָה דּוֹחֶה | Yih-yú ke-mótz lif-néi rú-akh; u-mal-akh Ado-nái do-khéh. | Let them be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the LORD driving them away! |
| 6 | יְהִי־דַרְכָּם חֹשֶׁךְ וַחֲלַקְלַקּוֹת וּמַלְאַךְ יְהוָה רֹדְפָם | Ye-hí dar-kám khó-shekh va-kha-lak-la-kót; u-mal-akh Ado-nái ro-de-fám. | Let their way be dark and slippery, with the angel of the LORD pursuing them! |
| 7 | כִּי־חִנָּם טָמְנוּ־לִי שַׁחַת רִשְׁתָּם חִנָּם חָפְרוּ לְנַפְשִׁי | Ki khi-n-nám ta-me-nú-li sha-khaát ris-tám; khi-n-nám kha-fe-rú le-naf-shí. | For without cause they hid their net for me; without cause they dug a pit for my life. |
| 8 | תְּבוֹאֵהוּ שׁוֹאָה לֹא־יֵדָע וְרִשְׁתּוֹ אֲשֶׁר־טָמַן תִּלְכְּדוֹ בְּשׁוֹאָה יִפָּל־בָּהּ | Te-vo-e-hú sho-áh lo yé-da‘; ve-rish-tó a-shér ta-mán til-k-de-hú; be-sho-áh yi-p-pól váh. | Let destruction come upon him when he does not know it! And let the net that he hid ensnare him; let him fall into it — to his destruction! |
| 9 | וְנַפְשִׁי תָּגִיל בַּיהוָה תָּשִׂישׂ בִּישׁוּעָתוֹ | Ve-naf-shí ta-gíl ba-Ado-nái; ta-sís bish-u-a-tó. | Then my soul will rejoice in the LORD, exulting in His salvation. |
| 10 | כָּל עַצְמוֹתַי תֹּאמַרְנָה יְהוָה מִי כָמוֹךָ מַצִּיל עָנִי מֵחָזָק מִמֶּנּוּ וְעָנִי וְאֶבְיוֹן מִגֹּזְלוֹ | Kál atz-mo-t-ái to-mar-náh Ado-nái mi kha-mo-kha; ma-tzíl a-ní me-kha-zák mim-mé-nu; ve-a-ní ve-ev-yón mi-goz-le-hú. | All my bones shall say, ‘O the LORD, who is like You, delivering the poor from him who is too strong for him, the poor and needy from him who robs him?’ |
| 11 | יְקוּמוּן עֵדֵי חָמָס אֲשֶׁר לֹא־יָדַעְתִּי יִשְׁאָלוּנִי | Ya-kú-mu e-déi kha-más; a-shér lo ya-dat-tí yish-a-lú-ni. | Malicious witnesses rise up; they ask me of things I do not know. |
| 12 | יְשַׁלְּמוּנִי רָעָה תַּחַת טוֹבָה שְׁכוֹל לְנַפְשִׁי | Ye-sha-le-mú-ni ra-a‘ ta-khaát to-váh; she-khól le-naf-shí. | They repay me evil for good; my soul is bereft. |
| 13 | וַאֲנִי בַּחֲלוֹתָם לְבוּשִׁי שָׂק עִנֵּיתִי בַצּוֹם נַפְשִׁי וּתְפִלָּתִי עַל־חֵיקִי תָשׁוּב | Va-a-ní be-khal-o-tám mil-bu-shí sak; i-ni-tí va-tzoám naf-shí; ve-te-fi-la-tí al khe-kí ta-shúv. | But I, when they were sick — I wore sackcloth; I afflicted myself with fasting; I prayed with head bowed on my chest. |
| 14 | כְּרֵעַ־כְּאָח לִי הִתְהַלָּכְתִּי כַּאֲבֶל־אֵם קֹדֵר שַׁחוֹתִי | Ke-re-a‘-a-khe ke-a-khí le-kha-lákh-ti; ke-a-vél em kha-dór sha-khó-ti. | I went about as though I grieved for my friend or my brother; as one who laments his mother, I bowed down in mourning. |
| 15 | וּבְצַלְעִי שָׂמְחוּ וְנֶאֱסָפוּ נֶאֶסְפוּ עָלַי נֵכִים וְלֹא יָדַעְתִּי קָרְעוּ וְלֹא־דָמּוּ | U-ve-tzal-e-í sa-me-khú-va-yi-a-se-fú; ne-e-se-fú a-lái ne-khi-mím u-val ya-dá‘-ti; ka-re-ú-va-lo da-mú. | But at my stumbling they rejoiced and gathered; they gathered together against me; wretches whom I did not know tore at me without ceasing. |
| 16 | בְּחַנְפֵי לַעֲגֵי מָעוֹג חָרֹק עָלַי שִׁנֵּימוֹ | Be-kha-neféi la-a-géi ma-og; kha-rók a-l-ái shi-n-né-hem. | Like profane mockers at a feast, they gnash at me with their teeth. |
| 17 | אֲדֹנָי כַּמָּה תִּרְאֶה הָשִׁיבָה נַפְשִׁי מִשֹּׁאֵיהֶם מִכְּפִירִים יְחִידָתִי | A-do-nái kam mah tir-eéh; ha-shi-váh naf-shí mi-sho-e-hém; mi-ke-firím ye-khi-da-tí. | How long, O Lord, will You look on? Rescue me from their destruction, my precious life from the lions! |
| 18 | אוֹדְךָ בְּקָהָל רָב בְּעַם עָצוּם אֲהַלְלֶךָּ | O-de-kha bik-hal ká-hal rav; be-am a-tzúm a-ha-le-le-kha. | I will thank You in the great congregation; in the mighty throng I will praise You. |
| 19 | אַל־יִשְׂמְחוּ־לִי אֹיְבַי שֶׁקֶר שֹׂנְאַי חִנָּם יִקְרְצוּ־עָיִן | Al yis-me-khú-li oy-v-ái shé-ker; son-e-ái khi-n-nám yik-re-tzu aá-yin. | Let not those rejoice over me who are wrongfully my foes, and let not those wink the eye who hate me without cause. |
| 20 | כִּי לֹא שָׁלוֹם יְדַבֵּרוּ וְעַל רִגְעֵי־אֶרֶץ דִּבְרֵי מִרְמוֹת יַחֲשֹׁבוּן | Ki lo sha-lóm ye-dab-bé-ru; ve-al rig-eéi e-rétz div-réi mir-mót yakh-shé-vu. | For they do not speak peace, but against those who are quiet in the land they devise words of deceit. |
| 21 | וַיַּרְחִיבוּ עָלַי פִּיהֶם אָמְרוּ הֶאָח הֶאָח רָאֲתָה עֵינֵינוּ | Va-yar-khi-bú a-lái pi-hém; a-me-rú he-akh he-akh ra-a-táh e-né-nu. | They open wide their mouths against me; they say, ‘Aha, Aha! Our eyes have seen it!’ |
| 22 | רָאִיתָה יְהוָה אַל־תֶּחֱרַשׁ אֲדֹנָי אֲל־תִּרְחַק מִמֶּנִּי | Ra-í-ta Ado-nái al tekhe-rásh; A-do-n-ái al tir-khak mim-mé-ni. | You have seen, O the LORD; be not silent! O Lord, be not far from me! |
| 23 | הָעִירָה וְהָקִיצָה לְמִשְׁפָּטִי אֱלֹהַי וַאדֹנָי לְרִיבִי | Ha-í-rah va-ha-kí-tzah le-mish-pa-tí; E-lo-h-ái va-A-do-n-ái le-rí-vi. | Awake and rouse Yourself for my vindication, for my cause, my God and my Lord! |
| 24 | שָׁפְטֵנִי כְצִדְקְךָ יְהוָה אֱלֹהָי וְאַל־יִשְׂמְחוּ־לִי | Shof-té-ni ke-tzid-ke-kha Ado-nái E-lo-h-ái; ve-al yis-me-khú-li. | Vindicate me, O the LORD my God, according to Your righteousness, and let them not rejoice over me! |
| 25 | אַל־יֹאמְרוּ בְלִבָּם הֶאָח נַפְשֵׁנוּ אַל־יֹאמְרוּ בִּלַּעֲנוּהוּ | Al yo-me-rú be-lib-bám he-akh naf-she-nú; al yo-me-rú bil-a-nú-hu. | Let them not say in their hearts, ‘Aha, our heart’s desire!’ Let them not say, ‘We have swallowed him up.’ |
| 26 | יֵבֹשׁוּ וְיַחְפְּרוּ יַחְדָּו שְׂמֵחֵי רָעָתִי יִלְבְּשׁוּ־בֹשֶׁת וּכְלִמָּה הַמַּגְדִּילִים עָלָי | Ye-vo-shú ve-yikh-pe-rú ya-khad se-me-khéi ra-a-tí; yil-be-shú vó-shet u-kh-li-máh ha-mag-dí-lim a-lái. | Let them be put to shame and disappointed altogether who rejoice at my calamity! Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor who magnify themselves against me! |
| 27 | יָרֹנּוּ וְיִשְׂמְחוּ חֲפֵצֵי צִדְקִי וְיֹאמְרוּ תָמִיד יִגְדַּל יְהוָה הֶחָפֵץ שְׁלוֹם עַבְדּוֹ | Ya-ró-nu ve-yis-me-khú khaf-tze-í-tze-d-kí; ve-yo-me-rú ta-míd yig-dal Ado-nái ha-kha-fétz she-lom av-dó. | Let those who delight in my righteousness shout for joy and be glad and say evermore, ‘Great is the LORD, who delights in the welfare of His servant!’ |
| 28 | וּלְשׁוֹנִי תֶּהְגֶּה צִדְקֶךָ כָּל־הַיּוֹם תְּהִלָּתֶךָ | U-le-sho-ní te-hegéh tzid-ke-kha; kál ha-yom te-hil-la-te-kha. | Then my tongue shall tell of Your righteousness and of Your praise all the day long. |
