| 1 | מַשְׂכִּיל לְאָסָף הַאֲזִינָה עַמִּי תּוֹרָתִי הַטּוּ אָזְנְכֶם לְאִמְרֵי־פִי | Maskíl le-A-sáf. Ha-azí-nah am-mí to-ra-tí; hat-tú oz-ne-khém le-im-réi fi. | A Maskil of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my teaching; incline your ears to the words of my mouth! |
| 2 | אֶפְתְּחָה בְמָשָׁל פִּי אַבִּיעָה חִידוֹת מִנִּי־קֶדֶם | Ef-te-kháh ve-ma-shál pi; a-bí-ah khi-dót mi-ní-ke-dem. | I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings from of old. |
| 3 | אֲשֶׁר שָׁמַעְנוּ וַנֵּדָעֵם וַאֲבוֹתֵינוּ סִפְּרוּ־לָנוּ | A-shér sha-má‘-nu va-ne-dá-em; va-a-vo-té-nu si-pe-rú lá-nu. | Things that we have heard and known, that our fathers have told us. |
| 4 | לֹא נְכַחֵד מִבְּנֵיהֶם לְדוֹר אַחֲרוֹן מְסַפְּרִים תְּהִלּוֹת יְהוָה וֶעֱזוּזוֹ וְנִפְלְאוֹתָיו אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה | Lo ne-kha-chéd mi-be-ne-hém le-dor a-kha-rón; me-sap-pe-rím te-hi-lót Ado-nái ve-u-zó; u-nif-le-o-táv a-shér a-sáh. | We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the LORD, and His might, and the wonders that He has done. |
| 5 | וַיָּקֶם עֵדוּת בְּיַעֲקֹב וְתוֹרָה שָׂם בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה אֶת־אֲבוֹתֵינוּ לְהוֹדִיעָם לִבְנֵיהֶם | Va-ya-kém e-dút be-Ya-a-kóv ve-to-ráh sam be-Yis-ra-él; a-shér tzi-váh et a-vo-té-nu le-ho-dí-am li-ve-ne-hém. | He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers to teach to their children. |
| 6 | לְמַעַן יֵדְעוּ דּוֹר אַחֲרוֹן בָּנִים יִוָּלֵדוּ יָקֻמוּ וִיסַפְּרוּ לִבְנֵיהֶם | Le-ma-a‘n ye-d-e-ún dor a-kha-rón; ba-ním yi-va-le-dú; ya-kú-mu vi-sap-pe-rú li-ve-ne-hém. | That the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children. |
| 7 | וְיָשִׂימוּ בֵאלֹהִים כִּסְלָם וְלֹא יִשְׁכְּחוּ מַעַלְלֵי־אֵל וּמִצְוֺתָיו יִנְצֹרוּ | Ve-ya-sí-mu ve-E-lo-hím kis-lám; ve-lo yish-ke-khú ma-al-léi E-l; ve-mitz-vo-táv yitz-ró-ru. | So that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments. |
| 8 | וְלֹא יִהְיוּ כַּאֲבוֹתָם דּוֹר סוֹרֵר וּמֹרֶה דּוֹר לֹא־הֵכִין לִבּוֹ וְלֹא־נֶאֶמְנָה אֶת־אֵל רוּחוֹ | Ve-lo yih-yú ka-a-vo-tám dor so-rér u-mo-réh; dor lo he-kín lib-bó; ve-lo ne-em-náh et E-l ru-khó. | And that they should not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation whose heart was not steadfast, whose spirit was not faithful to God. |
| 9 | בְּנֵי־אֶפְרַיִם נוֹשְׁקֵי רוֹמֵי־קָשֶׁת הָפְכוּ בְּיוֹם קְרָב | Be-néi Ef-ra-yím no-shkéi ro-méi ké-shet; ha-fe-kú be-yom kra-b. | The Ephraimites, armed with the bow, turned back on the day of battle. |
| 10 | לֹא שָׁמְרוּ בְּרִית אֱלֹהִים וּבְתוֹרָתוֹ מֵאֲנוּ לָלֶכֶת | Lo sha-me-rú be-rít E-lo-hím; u-ve-to-ra-tó me-a-nú la-lé-khet. | They did not keep God’s covenant, but refused to walk according to His law. |
| 11 | וַיִּשְׁכְּחוּ עֲלִילוֹתָיו וְנִפְלְאוֹתָיו אֲשֶׁר הֶרְאָם | Va-yish-ke-khú a-la-láv; u-nif-le-o-táv a-shér her-a-hém. | They forgot His works and the wonders that He had shown them. |
| 12 | נֶגֶד אֲבוֹתָם עָשָׂה פֶלֶא בְּאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם שְׂדֵה־צֹעַן | Ne-géd a-vo-tám a-sáh fé-le; be-e-rétz Mitz-ra-yím se-déh Tzo-aán. | In the sight of their fathers He performed wonders in the land of Egypt, in the fields of Zoan. |
| 13 | בָּקַע יָם וַיַּעֲבִירֵם וַיַּצֶּב־מַיִם כְּמוֹ־נֵד | Ba-ká‘ yám va-ya-a-vi-rém; va-yatz-zév ma-yím ke-mo néd. | He divided the sea and let them pass through it, and made the waters stand like a heap. |
| 14 | וַיַּנְחֵם בֶּעָנָן יוֹמָם וְכָל־הַלַּיְלָה בְּאוֹר אֵשׁ | Va-yan-khém be-a-nán yo-mám; ve-khál ha-láy-lah be-or esh. | In the daytime He led them with a cloud, and all the night with a fiery light. |
| 15 | יְבַקַּע צֻרִים בַּמִּדְבָּר וַיַּשְׁקְ כִּתְהֹמוֹת רַבָּה | Ye-vak-ká‘ tzu-rím ba-mid-bár; va-yash-ké kit-ho-mót ra-báh. | He split rocks in the wilderness and gave them drink abundantly as from the deep. |
| 16 | וַיּוֹצִא נוֹזְלִים מִסָּלַע וַיּוֹרֶד כַּנְּהָרוֹת מָיִם | Va-yo-tzé no-ze-lím mi-sé-la; va-yo-réd ka-ne-ha-rót má-yim. | He made streams come out of the rock and caused waters to flow down like rivers. |
| 17 | וַיּוֹסִיפוּ עוֹד לַחֲטֹא־לוֹ לַמְרוֹת עֶלְיוֹן בַּצִּיָּה | Va-yo-si-fú od la-khetó lo; le-ma-rót el-yón ba-tzi-yáh. | Yet they sinned still more against Him, rebelling against the Most High in the desert. |
| 18 | וַיְנַסּוּ־אֵל בִּלְבָבָם לִשְׁאָל־אֹכֶל לְנַפְשָׁם | Va-ye-nas-sú E-l be-lev-va-vám; lish-ol o-khél le-naf-shám. | They tested God in their heart by demanding the food they craved. |
| 19 | וַיְדַבְּרוּ בֵּאלֹהִים אָמְרוּ הֲיוּכַל אֵל לַעֲרֹךְ שֻׁלְחָן בַּמִּדְבָּר | Va-ye-dab-be-rú be-E-lo-hím; am-re-ú ha-yú-khal E-l la-a-rókh shúl-khan ba-mid-bár. | They spoke against God, saying, ‘Can God spread a table in the wilderness?’ |
| 20 | הֵן הִכָּה־צוּר וַיָּזוּבוּ מַיִם וּנְחָלִים יִשְׁטֹפוּ הֲגַם־לֶחֶם יוּכַל תֵּת אִם־יָכִין שְׁאֵר לְעַמּוֹ | Hén hi-káh tzur va-yi-zú-vu ma-yím; u-ne-kha-lím yish-tó-fu; ha-gám lé-khem yú-khal tén; im ya-khín sh-eér le-am-mó? | ‘He struck the rock so that water gushed out and streams overflowed. Can He also give bread or provide meat for His people?’ |
| 21 | לָכֵן שָׁמַע יְהוָה וַיִּתְעַבָּר וְאֵשׁ נִשְּׂקָה בְיַעֲקֹב וְגַם־אַף עָלָה בְיִשְׂרָאֵל | La-khén sha-má‘ Ado-nái va-yit-a-b-bér; ve-ésh nus-se-kah be-Ya-a-kóv; ve-gam a-p pa-a-láh ve-Yis-ra-él. | Therefore, when the LORD heard, He was full of wrath; a fire was kindled against Jacob; His anger rose against Israel. |
| 22 | כִּי לֹא הֶאֱמִינוּ בֵּאלֹהִים וְלֹא בָטְחוּ בִּישׁוּעָתוֹ | Ki lo he-e-mí-nu ve-E-lo-hím; ve-lo va-te-khú bi-shu-a-tó. | Because they did not believe in God and did not trust His saving power. |
| 23 | וַיְצַו שְׁחָקִים מִמָּעַל וְדַלְתֵי שָׁמַיִם פָּתָח | Va-ye-tza‘ sh-kha-kím mi-ma-a-l; u-dál-te-i sha-má-yim pa-tá-kha. | Yet He commanded the skies above and opened the doors of heaven. |
| 24 | וַיַּמְטֵר עֲלֵיהֶם מָן לֶאֱכֹל וּדְגַן־שָׁמַיִם נָתַן לָמוֹ | Va-yam-tér a-le-hém man le-e-khól; ud-gán sha-má-yim na-tán lá-mo. | And He rained down on them manna to eat and gave them the grain of heaven. |
| 25 | לֶחֶם אַבִּירִים אָכַל אִישׁ צֵידָה שָׁלַח לָהֶם לָשֹׂבַע | Lé-khem ab-birím a-khál ísh; tze-dáh sha-lákh lá-mo la-só-va. | Man ate of the bread of the angels; He sent them food in abundance. |
| 26 | יַסַּע קָדִים בַּשָּׁמָיִם וַיְנַהֵג בְּעֻזּוֹ תֵימָן | Yi-sá‘ ka-dím ba-sha-má-yim; va-ye-na-hég be-u-zó té-man. | He caused the east wind to blow in the heavens, and by His power He led out the south wind. |
| 27 | וַיַּמְטֵר עֲלֵיהֶם כֶּעָפָר שְׁאֵר וּכְחוֹל יַמִּים עוֹף כָּנָף | Va-yam-tér a-le-hém ka-a-fár sh-eér; u-che-khol ya-m shíf ōf. | He rained meat on them like dust, winged birds like the sand of the seas. |
| 28 | וַיַּפֵּל בְּקֶרֶב מַחֲנֵהוּ סָבִיב לְמִשְׁכְּנֹתָיו | Va-yap-pél be-ké-rev ma-kha-né-hu; sa-vív le-mish-ka-nó-tav. | He let them fall in the midst of their camp, all around their dwellings. |
| 29 | וַיֹּאכְלוּ וַיִּשְׂבְּעוּ מְאֹד וְתַאֲוָתָם יָבִא לָהֶם | Va-yo-kh-lú va-yish-be-ú-me-od; ve-tav-a-tám ya-ví la-hém. | And they ate and were well filled, for He gave them what they craved. |
| 30 | לֹא־זָרוּ מִתַּאֲוָתָם עוֹד אָכְלָם בְּפִיהֶם | Lo za-rú mi-ta-a-va-tám; od o-kh-lám be-fihém. | But before they had satisfied their craving, while the food was still in their mouths. |
| 31 | וְאַף אֱלֹהִים עָלָה בָהֶם וַיַּהֲרֹג בְּמִשְׁמַנֵּיהֶם וּבַחוּרֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל הִכְרִיעַ | Ve-af E-lo-hím a-láh va-hém; va-ya-hórág be-mish-ma-ne-hém; u-va-khu-réi Yis-ra-él hik-rí-a. | The anger of God rose against them, and He killed the strongest of them and laid low the young men of Israel. |
| 32 | בְּכָל־זֹאת חָטְאוּ־עוֹד וְלֹא־הֶאֱמִינוּ בְּנִפְלְאוֹתָיו | Be-khál zo’t khat-e-ú od; ve-lo he-e-mí-nu be-nif-le-o-táv. | In spite of all this, they still sinned; despite His wonders, they did not believe. |
| 33 | וַיְכַל־בַּהֶבֶל יְמֵיהֶם וּשְׁנוֹתָם בַּבֶּהָלָה | Va-ye-kal be-hé-vel ye-me-hém; u-she-no-tám va-be-ha-láh. | So He made their days vanish like a breath, and their years in terror. |
| 34 | אִם־הֲרָגָם וּדְרָשׁוּהוּ וְשָׁבוּ וְשִׁחֲרוּ־אֵל | Im ha-ra-gám va-de-ra-shú-hu; ve-shá-vu ve-shi-kha-rú E-l. | When He killed them, they sought Him; they repented and sought God earnestly. |
| 35 | וַיִּזְכְּרוּ כִּי־אֱלֹהִים צוּרָם וְאֵל עֶלְיוֹן גֹּאֲלָם | Va-yiz-ke-rú ki E-lo-hím tzur-rám; ve-E-l el-yón go-a-lám. | They remembered that God was their rock, the Most High God their redeemer. |
| 36 | וַיְפַתּוּהוּ בְּפִיהֶם וּבִלְשׁוֹנָם יְכַזְּבוּ־לוֹ | Va-ye-fat-tú-hu be-fí-hem; u-vi-le-sho-nám ye-kha-ze-vú-lo. | But they flattered Him with their mouths; they lied to Him with their tongues. |
| 37 | וְלִבָּם לֹא־נָכוֹן עִמּוֹ וְלֹא נֶאֶמְנוּ בִּבְרִיתוֹ | Ve-lib-bám lo na-khón im-mó; ve-lo ne-em-nú be-ve-ri-tó. | Their heart was not steadfast toward Him; they were not faithful to His covenant. |
| 38 | וְהוּא רַחוּם יְכַפֵּר עָוֺן וְלֹא־יַשְׁחִית וְהִרְבָּה לְהָשִׁיב אַפּוֹ וְלֹא־יָעִיר כָּל־חֲמָתוֹ | Ve-hu ra-khúm ye-kha-p-pér a-vón ve-lo yash-khít; ve-his-ráh ve-lo ya-ír kál kha-ma-tó. | Yet He, being compassionate, atoned for their iniquity and did not destroy them; He restrained His anger often and did not stir up all His wrath. |
| 39 | וַיִּזְכֹּר כִּי־בָשָׂר הֵמָּה רוּחַ הוֹלֵךְ וְלֹא יָשׁוּב | Va-yiz-kór ki va-sár hé-mah; rú-akh ho-lékh ve-lo ya-shúv. | He remembered that they were but flesh, a wind that passes and comes not again. |
| 40 | כַּמָּה יַמְרוּהוּ בַמִּדְבָּר יַעֲצִיבוּהוּ בִּישִׁימוֹן | Kam-máh yam-rú-hu va-mid-bár; ya-atz-vu-hu bi-sh-i-món. | How often they rebelled against Him in the wilderness and grieved Him in the desert! |
| 41 | וַיָּשׁוּבוּ וַיְנַסּוּ אֵל וּקְדוֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵל הִתְווּ | Va-ya-shú-vu va-ye-nas-sú E-l; vi-ke-dosh Yis-ra-él hit-e-vú. | They tested God again and again and provoked the Holy One of Israel. |
| 42 | לֹא־זָכְרוּ אֶת־יָדוֹ יוֹם אֲשֶׁר־פָּדָם מִנִּי־צָר | Lo za-ke-rú et ya-dó; yom a-shér pa-dám mi-ni tza-r. | They did not remember His power or the day when He redeemed them from the foe. |
| 43 | אֲשֶׁר־שָׂם בְּמִצְרַיִם אֹתוֹתָיו וּמוֹפְתָיו בִּשְׂדֵה־צֹעַן | A-shér sa-m be-Mitz-ra-yím o-to-táv; u-mo-fe-táv bi-s-déh Tzo-aán. | When He performed His signs in Egypt and His marvels in the fields of Zoan. |
| 44 | וַיַּהֲפֹךְ לְדָם יְאֹרֵיהֶם וְנֹזְלֵיהֶם בַּל־יִשְׁתָּיוּן | Va-ya-ha-pókh le-dám ye-o-ré-hem; ve-noz-le-hém bal yish-ta-y-yún. | He turned their rivers to blood, so that they could not drink of their streams. |
| 45 | יְשַׁלַּח בָּהֶם עָרֹב וַיֹּאכְלֵם וּצְפַרְדֵּעַ וַתַּשְׁחִיתֵם | Ye-shal-lákh ba-hém a-róv va-yo-kh-le-m; u-tze-far-dé-a va-te-sha-kha-tém. | He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them, and frogs, which destroyed them. |
| 46 | וַיִּתֵּן לֶחָסִיל יְבוּלָם וִיגִיעָם לָאַרְבֶּה | Va-yi-tén le-kha-síl ye-vu-lám; vi-ye-í-am la-ar-béh. | He gave their crops to the destroying locust and the fruit of their labor to the locust. |
| 47 | יַהֲרֹג בַּבָּרָד גַּפְנָם וְשִׁקְמוֹתָם בַּחֲנָמַל | Ya-ha-róg ba-ba-rád gaf-nám; u-shik-mó-tam ba-kha-na-mál. | He destroyed their vines with hail and their sycamore trees with frost. |
| 48 | וַיַּסְגֵּר לַבָּרָד בְּעִירָם וּמִקְנֵיהֶם לָרְשָׁפִים | Va-yis-gar la-ba-rád be-irám; u-mik-ne-hém la-re-sha-fím. | He gave over their cattle to the hail and their flocks to thunderbolts. |
| 49 | יְשַׁלַּח־בָּם חֲרוֹן אַפּוֹ עֶבְרָה וָזַעַם וְצָרָה מִשְׁלַחַת מַלְאֲכֵי רָעִים | Ye-shal-lákh bám kha-rón ap-pó; ev-ráh va-za-aám ve-tza-ráh; mish-la-khaát mal-a-khéi ra-ím. | He let loose on them His burning anger, wrath, indignation, and distress, a company of destroying angels. |
| 50 | יְפַלֵּס נָתִיב לְאַפּוֹ לֹא־חָשַׂךְ מִמָּוֶת נַפְשָׁם וְחַיָּתָם לַדֶּבֶר הִסְגִּיר | Ye-pal-lés na-tív le-ap-pó; lo kha-sákh mi-má-vet naf-shám; ve-kha-y-ya-tám la-dé-ver hig-gír. | He made a path for His anger; He did not spare them from death, but gave their lives over to the plague. |
| 51 | וַיַּךְ כָּל־בְּכוֹר בְּמִצְרָיִם רֵאשִׁית אוֹנִים בְּאָהֳלֵי־חָם | Va-yak b-khól be-khór be-Mitz-ra-yím; re-shít o-ním be-o-ha-léi Kham. | He struck down every firstborn in Egypt, the firstfruits of their strength in the tents of Ham. |
| 52 | וַיַּסַּע כַּצֹּאן עַמּוֹ וַיְנַהֲגֵם כַּעֵדֶר בַּמִּדְבָּר | Va-yis-sá‘ ka-tzon am-mó; va-ye-na-h-gém ka-e-dér ba-mid-bár. | Then He led out His people like sheep and guided them in the wilderness like a flock. |
| 53 | וַיַּנְחֵם לָבֶטַח וְלֹא פָחָדוּ וְאֶת־אוֹיְבֵיהֶם כִּסָּה הַיָּם | Va-yan-khém la-vé-takh ve-lo fa-khá-du; ve-et oy-ve-hém ki-sáh ha-yám. | He led them in safety, so that they were not afraid, but the sea overwhelmed their enemies. |
| 54 | וַיְבִיאֵם אֶל־גְּבוּל קָדְשׁוֹ הַר־זֶה קָנְתָה יְמִינוֹ | Va-ye-vi-e-m el ge-vúl kod-shó; ha-r ze h ka-ne-táh ye-mi-nó. | And He brought them to His holy land, to the mountain which His right hand had won. |
| 55 | וַיְגָרֶשׁ מִפְּנֵיהֶם גּוֹיִם וַיַּפִּילֵם בְּחֶבֶל נַחֲלָה וַיַּשְׁכֵּן בְּאָהֳלֵיהֶם שִׁבְטֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל | Va-ye-ga-résh mi-pe-ne-hém go-yím; va-yap-pilém be-kha-vél na-kha-láh; va-yash-kén be-o-ha-le-hém shiv-téi Yis-ra-él. | He drove out nations before them; He apportioned them for a possession and settled the tribes of Israel in their tents. |
| 56 | וַיְנַסּוּ וַיַּמְרוּ אֶת־אֱלֹהִים עֶלְיוֹן וְעֵדוֹתָיו לֹא שָׁמָרוּ | Va-ye-nas-sú va-yam-rú et E-lo-hím el-yón; ve-e-do-táv lo sha-má-ru. | Yet they tested and rebelled against the Most High God and did not keep His testimonies. |
| 57 | וַיִּסֹּגוּ וַיִּבְגְּדוּ כַּאֲבוֹתָם נֶהְפְּכוּ כְּקֶשֶׁת רְמִיָּה | Va-yis-bo-gú va-yig-dú kaa-vo-tám; neh-pe-khú ke-ké-shet re-mi-yáh. | But turned away and acted treacherously like their fathers; they twisted like a deceitful bow. |
| 58 | וַיַּכְעִיסוּהוּ בְּבָמוֹתָם וּבִפְסִילֵיהֶם יַקְנִיאוּהוּ | Va-yakh-a-sí-su-hu be-ba-mo-tám; u-ve-fi-si-le-hém yak-a-ni-ú-hu. | For they provoked Him to anger with their high places; they moved Him to jealousy with their idols. |
| 59 | שָׁמַע אֱלֹהִים וַיִּתְעַבָּר וַיִּמְאַס מְאֹד בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל | Sha-má‘ E-lo-hím va-yit-ab-bér; va-yim-as me-od be-Yis-ra-él. | When God heard, He was full of wrath, and He utterly rejected Israel. |
| 60 | וַיִּטֹּשׁ מִשְׁכַּן שִׁלוֹ אֹהֶל שִׁכֵּן בָּאָדָם | Va-yit-tosh mish-kan Shi-lóh; o-hél shi-kén ba-a-dám. | He forsook His dwelling at Shiloh, the tent where He dwelt among mankind. |
| 61 | וַיִּתֵּן לַשְּׁבִי עֻזּוֹ וְתִפְאַרְתּוֹ בְיַד־צָר | Va-yi-tén la-shev-yí u-zó; ve-tif-ar-tó be-yad tza-r. | And delivered His power to captivity, His glory to the hand of the foe. |
| 62 | וַיַּסְגֵּר לַחֶרֶב עַמּוֹ וּבְנַחֲלָתוֹ הִתְעַבָּר | Va-yis-gór la-khe-rév am-mó; u-ve-na-kha-la-tó hit-ab-bér. | He gave His people over to the sword and vented His wrath on His heritage. |
| 63 | בַּחוּרָיו אָכְלָה־אֵשׁ וּבְתוּלֹתָיו לֹא הוּלָּלוּ | Ba-khu-ráv a-khal ésh; u-be-tu-lo-táv lo hu-la-lú. | Fire devoured their young men, and their young women had no marriage song. |
| 64 | כֹּהֲנָיו בַּחֶרֶב נָפָלוּ וְאַלְמְנֹתָיו לֹא תִבְכֶּינָה | Ko-ha-náv be-khe-rév na-fá-lu; ve-al-me-no-táv lo tiv-ke-náh. | Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows made no lamentation. |
| 65 | וַיִּקַץ כְּיָשֵׁן אֲדֹנָי כְּגִבּוֹר מִתְרוֹנֵן מִיָּיִן | Va-yi-kí-tz ke-ya-shén Ado-nái; ke-gi-bór mit-ro-n-nén mi-yá-yin. | Then the LORD awoke as if from sleep, like a strong man shouting because of wine. |
| 66 | וַיַּךְ־צָרָיו אָחוֹר חֶרְפַּת עוֹלָם נָתַן לָמוֹ | Va-yak tza-ráv a-khór; kher-pát o-lám na-tán lá-mo. | And He put His adversaries to rout; He put them to everlasting shame. |
| 67 | וַיִּמְאַס בְּאֹהֶל יוֹסֵף וּבְשֵׁבֶט אֶפְרַיִם לֹא בָחָר | Va-yim-a‘s be-o-hél Yo-séf; u-ve-shé-vet Ef-ra-yím lo ba-khár. | He rejected the tent of Joseph; He did not choose the tribe of Ephraim. |
| 68 | וַיִּבְחַר אֶת־שֵׁבֶט יְהוּדָה אֶת־הַר צִיּוֹן אֲשֶׁר אָהֵב | Va-yiv-khaár et shé-vet Ye-hu-dáh; et har Tzi-yón a-shér a-hév. | But He chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which He loves. |
| 69 | וַיִּבֶן כְּמוֹ־רָמִים מִקְדָּשׁוֹ כְּאֶרֶץ יְסָדָהּ לְעוֹלָם | Va-yi-vén ke-mo ra-mím mik-da-shó; ke-e-rétz ye-sa-dáh le-o-lám. | He built His sanctuary like the high heavens, like the earth, which He has founded forever. |
| 70 | וַיִּבְחַר בְּדָוִד עַבְדּוֹ וַיִּקָּחֵהוּ מִמִּכְלְאֹת צֹאן | Va-yiv-khaár be-Da-víd av-dó; va-yi-k-kha-hú mi-mi-kh-le-ạt tzon. | He chose David His servant and took him from the sheepfolds. |
| 71 | מֵאַחַר עָלוֹת הֱבִיאוֹ לִרְעוֹת בְּיַעֲקֹב עַמּוֹ וּבְיִשְׂרָאֵל נַחֲלָתוֹ | Mi-a-khaár a-lót he-vi-ó lir-ọt be-Ya-a-kóv am-mó; u-ve-Yis-ra-él na-kha-la-tó. | From following the nursing ewes He brought him to shepherd Jacob His people, Israel His inheritance. |
| 72 | וַיִּרְעֵם כְּתֹם לְבָבוֹ וּבִתְבוּנוֹת כַּפָּיו יַנְחֵם | Va-ye-re-ém ke-tom le-va-vó; u-vi-te-vu-nót ka-p-páv yan-khém. | With upright heart he shepherded them and guided them with his skillful hand. |
