| 2 | אֹהֵב יְהוָה שַׁעֲרֵי צִיּוֹן מִכֹּל מִשְׁכְּנוֹת יַעֲקֹב | O-hév Ado-nái sha-a-réi Tzi-yón mi-kál mish-ke-nót Ya-a-kóv. | The LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwelling places of Jacob. |
| 3 | נִכְבָּדוֹת מְדֻבָּר בָּךְ עִיר הָאֱלֹהִים סֶלָה | Nikh-ba-dót me-dub-bár bákh; ír ha-E-lo-hím. Sé-lah. | Glorious things of you are spoken, O city of God. Selah. |
| 4 | אַזְכִּיר רַהַב וּבָבֶל לְיֹדְעָי הִנֵּה פְלֶשֶׁת וְצוֹר עִם־כּוּשׁ זֶה יֻלַּד־שָׁם | Az-kír Ra-háv u-Va-vél le-yo-de-ái; hin-néh Fe-lé-shet ve-Tzor im Kush; ze yu-lad shám. | Among those who know Me I mention Rahab and Babylon; behold, Philistia and Tyre, with Cush — ‘This one was born there,’ they say. |
| 5 | וּלֲצִיּוֹן יֵאָמַר אִישׁ וְאִישׁ יֻלַּד־בָּהּ וְהוּא יְכוֹנְנֶהָ עֶלְיוֹן | U-le-Tzi-yón ye-a-már ísh ve-ísh yu-lad báh; ve-hu ye-kho-ne-n-né-ha el-yón. | And of Zion it shall be said, ‘This one and that one were born in her’; for the Most High Himself will establish her. |
