בראשית ה

5:1

This is the book of the Chronicles of Adam:
On the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God.
Zeh sefer toledot Adam beyom bero Elohim Adam bidemut Elohim asah oto.
זֶ֣ה סֵ֔פֶר תּוֹלְדֹ֖ת אָדָ֑ם בְּי֗וֹם בְּרֹ֤א אֱלֹהִים֙ אָדָ֔ם בִּדְמ֥וּת אֱלֹהִ֖ים עָשָׂ֥ה אֹתֽוֹ׃

5:2

He created them male and female. He blessed them and named them Man (Adam) on the day that they were created.
Zachar unekevah bera'am vayevarech otam vayikra et-shemam Adam beyom hibare'am.
זָכָ֥ר וּנְקֵבָ֖ה בְּרָאָ֑ם וַיְבָ֣רֶךְ אֹתָ֗ם וַיִּקְרָ֤א אֶת־שְׁמָם֙ אָדָ֔ם בְּי֖וֹם הִבָּֽרְאָֽם׃ (ס)

5:3

Adam lived 130 years, and he had a son in his likeness and form. He named him Seth.
Vayechi Adam shloshim ume'at shanah vayoled bidemuto ketsalmo vayikra et-shemo Shet.
וַֽיְחִ֣י אָדָ֗ם שְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים וּמְאַת֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בִּדְמוּת֖וֹ כְּצַלְמ֑וֹ וַיִּקְרָ֥א אֶת־שְׁמ֖וֹ שֵֽׁת׃

5:4

Adam lived 800 years after he had Seth, and he had sons and daughters.
Vayihyu yemey-Adam acharey holido et-Shet shmoneh me'ot shanah vayoled banim uvanot.
וַיִּֽהְי֣וּ יְמֵי־אָדָ֗ם אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־שֵׁ֔ת שְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵאֹ֖ת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃

5:5

All the days that Adam lived were 930 years, and he died.
Vayihyu kol-yemey Adam asher-chay tsha me'ot shanah ushloshim shanah vayamot.
וַיִּֽהְי֞וּ כָּל־יְמֵ֤י אָדָם֙ אֲשֶׁר־חַ֔י תְּשַׁ֤ע מֵאוֹת֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֖ים שָׁנָ֑ה וַיָּמֹֽת׃ (ס)

5:6

Seth lived 105 years, and he had a son Enosh.
Vayechi-Shet chamesh shanim ume'at shanah vayoled et-Enosh.

וַֽיְחִי־שֵׁ֕ת חָמֵ֥שׁ שָׁנִ֖ים וּמְאַ֣ת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־אֱנֽוֹשׁ׃

5:7

Seth lived 807 years after he had Enosh, and he had sons and daughters.
Vayechi-Shet acharey holido et-Enosh sheva shanim ushmoneh me'ot shanah vayoled banim uvanot.
וַֽיְחִי־שֵׁ֗ת אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־אֱנ֔וֹשׁ שֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֔ים וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃

5:8

All of Seth's days were 912 years, and he died.
Vayihyu kol-yemey-Shet shtem esreh shanah utsha me'ot shanah vayamot.
וַיִּֽהְיוּ֙ כָּל־יְמֵי־שֵׁ֔ת שְׁתֵּ֤ים עֶשְׂרֵה֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וּתְשַׁ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיָּמֹֽת׃ (ס)

5:9

Enosh lived 90 years, and he had a son Kenan.
Vayechi Enosh tish'im shanah vayoled et-Keynan.
וַֽיְחִ֥י אֱנ֖וֹשׁ תִּשְׁעִ֣ים שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־קֵינָֽן׃

5:10

Enosh lived 815 years after he had Kenan, and he had sons and daughters.
Vayechi Enosh acharey holido et-Keynan chamesh esreh shanah ushmoneh me'ot shanah vayoled banim uvanot.
וַֽיְחִ֣י אֱנ֗וֹשׁ אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־קֵינָ֔ן חֲמֵ֤שׁ עֶשְׂרֵה֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃

5:11

All of Enosh's days were 905 years, and he died.
Vayihyu kol-yemey Enosh chamesh shanim utesha me'ot shanah vayamot.
וַיִּֽהְיוּ֙ כָּל־יְמֵ֣י אֱנ֔וֹשׁ חָמֵ֣שׁ שָׁנִ֔ים וּתְשַׁ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיָּמֹֽת׃ (ס)

5:12

Kenan lived 70 years, and he had a son Mahalalel.
Vayechi Keynan shiv'im shanah vayoled et-Mahalal'el.
וַֽיְחִ֥י קֵינָ֖ן שִׁבְעִ֣ים שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־מַֽהֲלַלְאֵֽל׃

5:13

Kenan lived 840 years after he had Mahalalel, and he had sons and daughters.
Vayechi Keynan acharey holido et-Mahalal'el arba'im shanah ushmoneh me'ot shanah vayoled banim uvanot.
וַיְחִ֣י קֵינָ֗ן אַחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־מַֽהֲלַלְאֵ֔ל אַרְבָּעִ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃

5:14

All of Kenan's days were 910 years, and he died.
Vayihyu kol-yemey Keynan eser shanim utesha me'ot shanah vayamot.

וַיִּֽהְיוּ֙ כָּל־יְמֵ֣י קֵינָ֔ן עֶ֣שֶׂר שָׁנִ֔ים וּתְשַׁ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיָּמֹֽת׃ (ס)

5:15

Mahalalel lived 65 years, and he had a son Yered.
Vayechi Mahalal'el chamesh shanim veshishim shanah vayoled et-Yared.
וַֽיְחִ֣י מַֽהֲלַלְאֵ֔ל חָמֵ֥שׁ שָׁנִ֖ים וְשִׁשִּׁ֣ים שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־יָֽרֶד׃

5:16

Mahalalel lived 830 years after he had Yered, and he had sons and daughters.
Vayechi Mahalal'el acharey holido et-Yered shloshim shanah ushmoneh me'ot shanah vayoled banim uvanot.
וַֽיְחִ֣י מַֽהֲלַלְאֵ֗ל אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־יֶ֔רֶד שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃

5:17

All of Mahalalel's days were 895 years, and he died.
Vayihyu kol-yemey Mahalal'el chamesh vetish'im shanah ushmoneh me'ot shanah vayamot.
וַיִּהְיוּ֙ כָּל־יְמֵ֣י מַהֲלַלְאֵ֔ל חָמֵ֤שׁ וְתִשְׁעִים֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיָּמֹֽת׃ (ס)

5:18

Yered lived 162 years, and he had a son Enoch.
Vayechi-Yered shtayim veshishim shanah ume'at shanah vayoled et-Chanoch.
וַֽיְחִי־יֶ֕רֶד שְׁתַּ֧יִם וְשִׁשִּׁ֛ים שָׁנָ֖ה וּמְאַ֣ת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־חֲנֽוֹךְ׃

5:19

Yered lived 800 years after he had Enoch, and he had sons and daughters.
Vayechi Yered acharey holido et-Chanoch shmoneh me'ot shanah vayoled banim uvanot.

וַֽיְחִי־יֶ֗רֶד אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־חֲנ֔וֹךְ שְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃

5:20

All of Yered's days were 962 years, and he died.
Vayihyu kol-yemey Yered shtayim veshishim shanah utesha me'ot shanah vayamot.
וַיִּֽהְיוּ֙ כָּל־יְמֵי־יֶ֔רֶד שְׁתַּ֤יִם וְשִׁשִּׁים֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וּתְשַׁ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיָּמֹֽת׃ (פ)

5:21

Enoch lived 65 years, and he had a son Methuselah.
Vayechi Chanoch chamesh veshishim shanah vayoled et-Metushalach.
וַֽיְחִ֣י חֲנ֔וֹךְ חָמֵ֥שׁ וְשִׁשִּׁ֖ים שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־מְתוּשָֽׁלַח׃

5:22

Enoch walked with God for 300 years after he had Methuselah, and he had sons and daughters.
Vayithalech Chanoch et-ha'Elohim acharey holido et-Metushelach shlosh me'ot shanah vayoled banim uvanot.
וַיִּתְהַלֵּ֨ךְ חֲנ֜וֹךְ אֶת־הָֽאֱלֹהִ֗ים אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־מְתוּשֶׁ֔לַח שְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃

5:23

All of Enoch's days were 365 years.
Vayehi kol-yemey Chanoch chamesh veshishim shanah ushlosh me'ot shanah.
וַיְהִ֖י כָּל־יְמֵ֣י חֲנ֑וֹךְ חָמֵ֤שׁ וְשִׁשִּׁים֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וּשְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָֽה׃

5:24

Enoch walked with God, and he was no more, becauseGod had taken him.
Vayithalech Chanoch et-ha'Elohim ve'eynenu ki-lakach oto Elohim.
וַיִּתְהַלֵּ֥ךְ חֲנ֖וֹךְ אֶת־הָֽאֱלֹהִ֑ים וְאֵינֶ֕נּוּ כִּֽי־לָקַ֥ח אֹת֖וֹ אֱלֹהִֽים׃ (פ)

5:25

Methuselah lived 187 years, and he had a son Lemekh.
Vayechi Metushelach sheva ushmonim shanah ume'at shanah vayoled et-Lamech.

שביעי

וַיְחִ֣י מְתוּשֶׁ֔לַח שֶׁ֧בַע וּשְׁמֹנִ֛ים שָׁנָ֖ה וּמְאַ֣ת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־לָֽמֶךְ׃

5:26

Methuselah lived 782 years after he had Lemekh, and he had sons and daughters.
Vayechi Metushelach acharey holido et-Lemech shtayim ushmonim shanah ushva me'ot shanah vayoled banim uvanot.
וַֽיְחִ֣י מְתוּשֶׁ֗לַח אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־לֶ֔מֶךְ שְׁתַּ֤יִם וּשְׁמוֹנִים֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וּשְׁבַ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃

5:27

All of Methuselah's days were 969 years, and he died.
Vayihyu kol-yemey Metushelach tesha veshishim shanah utsha me'ot shanah vayamot.
וַיִּהְיוּ֙ כָּל־יְמֵ֣י מְתוּשֶׁ֔לַח תֵּ֤שַׁע וְשִׁשִּׁים֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וּתְשַׁ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיָּמֹֽת׃ (פ)

5:28

Lemekh lived 182 years, and he had a son.
Vayechi-Lemech shtayim ushmonim shanah ume'at shanah vayoled ben.
וַֽיְחִי־לֶ֕מֶךְ שְׁתַּ֧יִם וּשְׁמֹנִ֛ים שָׁנָ֖ה וּמְאַ֣ת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד בֵּֽן׃

5:29

He named him Noah, saying, 'This one will bring us relief from our work and the anguish of our hands, from the soil that God has cursed.'
Vayikra et-shemo Noach lemor zeh yenachamenu mima'asenu ume'itsvon yadeynu min-ha'adamah asher erarah Adonay.
וַיִּקְרָ֧א אֶת־שְׁמ֛וֹ נֹ֖חַ לֵאמֹ֑ר זֶ֠ה יְנַחֲמֵ֤נוּ מִֽמַּעֲשֵׂ֙נוּ֙ וּמֵעִצְּב֣וֹן יָדֵ֔ינוּ מִן־הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֵֽרְרָ֖הּ יְהוָֽה׃

5:30

Lemekh lived 595 years after he had Noah, and he had sons and daughters.
Vayechi-Lemech acharey holido et-Noach chamesh vetish'im shanah vachamesh me'ot shanah vayoled banim uvanot.
וַֽיְחִי־לֶ֗מֶךְ אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־נֹ֔חַ חָמֵ֤שׁ וְתִשְׁעִים֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וַחֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵאֹ֖ת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃

5:31

All of Lemekh's days were 777 years, and he died.
Vayehi kol-yemey-Lemech sheva veshiv'im shanah ushva me'ot shanah vayamot.
וַֽיְהִי֙ כָּל־יְמֵי־לֶ֔מֶךְ שֶׁ֤בַע וְשִׁבְעִים֙ שָׁנָ֔ה וּשְׁבַ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיָּמֹֽת׃ (ס)

5:32

Noah was 500 years old, and Noah fathered Shem, Ham, and Yefeth.
Vayehi Noach ben-chamesh me'ot shanah vayoled Noach et-Shem et-Cham ve'et Yafet.
וַֽיְהִי־נֹ֕חַ בֶּן־חֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֣וֹלֶד נֹ֔חַ אֶת־שֵׁ֖ם אֶת־חָ֥ם וְאֶת־יָֽפֶת׃

5:7	Seth lived 807 years after he had Enosh, and he had sons and daughters. Vayechi-Shet acharey holido et-Enosh sheva shanim ushmoneh me'ot shanah vayoled banim uvanot.	וַֽיְחִי־שֵׁ֗ת אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־אֱנ֔וֹשׁ שֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֔ים וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃

5:12	Kenan lived 70 years, and he had a son Mahalalel. Vayechi Keynan shiv'im shanah vayoled et-Mahalal'el.	וַֽיְחִ֥י קֵינָ֖ן שִׁבְעִ֣ים שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־מַֽהֲלַלְאֵֽל׃
5:13	Kenan lived 840 years after he had Mahalalel, and he had sons and daughters. Vayechi Keynan acharey holido et-Mahalal'el arba'im shanah ushmoneh me'ot shanah vayoled banim uvanot.	וַיְחִ֣י קֵינָ֗ן אַחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־מַֽהֲלַלְאֵ֔ל אַרְבָּעִ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃
5:14	All of Kenan's days were 910 years, and he died. Vayihyu kol-yemey Keynan eser shanim utesha me'ot shanah vayamot.	וַיִּֽהְיוּ֙ כָּל־יְמֵ֣י קֵינָ֔ן עֶ֣שֶׂר שָׁנִ֔ים וּתְשַׁ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיָּמֹֽת׃ (ס)
5:15	Mahalalel lived 65 years, and he had a son Yered. Vayechi Mahalal'el chamesh shanim veshishim shanah vayoled et-Yared.	וַֽיְחִ֣י מַֽהֲלַלְאֵ֔ל חָמֵ֥שׁ שָׁנִ֖ים וְשִׁשִּׁ֣ים שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֖וֹלֶד אֶת־יָֽרֶד׃
5:16	Mahalalel lived 830 years after he had Yered, and he had sons and daughters. Vayechi Mahalal'el acharey holido et-Yered shloshim shanah ushmoneh me'ot shanah vayoled banim uvanot.	וַֽיְחִ֣י מַֽהֲלַלְאֵ֗ל אַֽחֲרֵי֙ הוֹלִיד֣וֹ אֶת־יֶ֔רֶד שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וַיּ֥וֹלֶד בָּנִ֖ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃

5:29	He named him Noah, saying, 'This one will bring us relief from our work and the anguish of our hands, from the soil that God has cursed.'
