30:1

Rachel realized that she was not bearing any children to Jacob. She was jealous of her sister and said to Jacob, 'Give me children! If not, let me die!'
Vatere Rachel ki lo yaledah le-Ya'akov vatekane Rachel ba'achotah vatomer el-Ya'akov havah-li vanim ve'im-ayin metah anochi.

אוַתֵּ֣רֶא רָחֵ֗ל כִּ֣י לֹ֤א יָֽלְדָה֙ לְיַֽעֲקֹ֔ב וַתְּקַנֵּ֥א רָחֵ֖ל בַּֽאֲחֹתָ֑הּ וַתֹּ֤אמֶר אֶל־יַֽעֲקֹב֙ הָֽבָה־לִּ֣י בָנִ֔ים וְאִם־אַ֖יִן מֵתָ֥ה אָנֹֽכִי:

30:2

Jacob became furious with Rachel. 'Shall I take God's place?' he said. 'It is He who is holding back the fruit of your womb.'
Vayichar-af Ya'akov beRachel vayomer hatachat Elohim anochi asher-mana mimech pri-vaten.

בוַיִּֽחַר־אַ֥ף יַֽעֲקֹ֖ב בְּרָחֵ֑ל וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הֲתַ֤חַת אֱלֹהִים֙ אָנֹ֔כִי אֲשֶׁר־מָנַ֥ע מִמֵּ֖ךְ פְּרִי־בָֽטֶן:

30:3

[Rachel] said, 'Here is my handmaid Bilhah. Come to her and let her give birth on my lap. Through her I will then also have a son.'
Vatomer hineh amati Vilhah bo eleyha veteled al-birkay ve'ibaneh gam-anochi mimenah.

גוַתֹּ֕אמֶר הִנֵּ֛ה אֲמָתִ֥י בִלְהָ֖ה בֹּ֣א אֵלֶ֑יהָ וְתֵלֵד֙ עַל־בִּרְכַּ֔י וְאִבָּנֶ֥ה גַם־אָֽנֹכִ֖י מִמֶּֽנָּה:

30:4

She gave him her handmaid Bilhah as a wife, and Jacob came to her.
Vatiten-lo et-Bilhah shifchatah le'ishah vayavo eleyha Ya'akov.

דוַתִּתֶּן־ל֛וֹ אֶת־בִּלְהָ֥ה שִׁפְחָתָ֖הּ לְאִשָּׁ֑ה וַיָּבֹ֥א אֵלֶ֖יהָ יַֽעֲקֹֽב:

30:5

Bilhah became pregnant and gave birth to Jacob's son.
Vatahar Bilhah vateled le-Ya'akov ben.

הוַתַּ֣הַר בִּלְהָ֔ה וַתֵּ֥לֶד לְיַֽעֲקֹ֖ב בֵּֽן:

30:6

Rachel said, 'God has judged (dan) me and has also heard my prayer. He has finally given me a son!' She therefore named the child Dan.
Vatomer Rachel danani Elohim vegam shama bekoli vayiten-li ben al-ken kar'ah shmo Dan.

ווַתֹּ֤אמֶר רָחֵל֨ דָּנַ֣נִּי אֱלֹהִ֔ים וְגַם֙ שָׁמַ֣ע בְּקֹלִ֔י וַיִּתֶּן־לִ֖י בֵּ֑ן עַל־כֵּ֛ן קָֽרְאָ֥ה שְׁמ֖וֹ דָּֽן:

30:7

Rachel's handmaid Bilhah became pregnant again and had a second son by Jacob.
Vatahar od vateled Bilhah shifchat Rachel ben sheni le-Ya'akov.

זוַתַּ֣הַר ע֔וֹד וַתֵּ֕לֶד בִּלְהָ֖ה שִׁפְחַ֣ת רָחֵ֑ל בֵּ֥ן שֵׁנִ֖י לְיַֽעֲקֹֽב:

30:8

Rachel said, 'I have been twisted around with my sister through all of God's roundabout ways (naphtuley), but I have finally won.' She therefore named the child Naphtali.
Vatomer Rachel naftuley Elohim niftalti im-achoti gam-yacholti vatikra shmo Naftali.

חוַתֹּ֣אמֶר רָחֵ֗ל נַפְתּוּלֵ֨י אֱלֹהִ֧ים | נִפְתַּ֛לְתִּי עִם־אֲחֹתִ֖י גַּם־יָכֹ֑לְתִּי וַתִּקְרָ֥א שְׁמ֖וֹ נַפְתָּלִֽי:

30:9

Leah realized that she was no longer having children. She took her handmaid Zilpah and gave her to Jacob as a wife.
Vatere Leah ki amedah miledet vatikach et-Zilpah shifchata vatiten otah le-Ya'akov le'ishah.

טוַתֵּ֣רֶא לֵאָ֔ה כִּ֥י עָֽמְדָ֖ה מִלֶּ֑דֶת וַתִּקַּח֙ אֶת־זִלְפָּ֣ה שִׁפְחָתָ֔הּ וַתִּתֵּ֥ן אֹתָ֛הּ לְיַֽעֲקֹ֖ב לְאִשָּֽׁה:

30:10

Leah's handmaid Zilpah bore Jacob a son.
Vateled Zilpah shifchat Leah le-Ya'akov ben.

יוַתֵּ֗לֶד זִלְפָּ֛ה שִׁפְחַ֥ת לֵאָ֖ה לְיַֽעֲקֹ֥ב בֵּֽן:

30:11

'Good fortune (gad) has come!' exclaimed Leah. She named the child Gad.
Vatomer Leah ba gad vatikra et-shmo Gad.

יאוַתֹּ֥אמֶר לֵאָ֖ה בָּ֣א גָ֑ד (כתיב בגד) וַתִּקְרָ֥א אֶת־שְׁמ֖וֹ גָּֽד:

30:12

Leah's handmaid Zilpah bore a second son to Jacob.
Vateled Zilpah shifchat Leah ben sheni le-Ya'akov.

יבוַתֵּ֗לֶד זִלְפָּה֙ שִׁפְחַ֣ת לֵאָ֔ה בֵּ֥ן שֵׁנִ֖י לְיַֽעֲקֹֽב:

30:13

'It's my happiness (asher),' said Leah. 'Young girls will consider me happy!' She named the child Asher.
Vatomer Leah be'oshri ki ishruni banot vatikra et-shmo Asher.

יגוַתֹּ֣אמֶר לֵאָ֔ה בְּאָשְׁרִ֕י כִּ֥י אִשְּׁר֖וּנִי בָּנ֑וֹת וַתִּקְרָ֥א אֶת־שְׁמ֖וֹ אָשֵֽׁר:

30:14

Fourth Reading
Reuben took a walk during the wheat harvest and he found mandrakes in the field. He brought them to his mother Leah.

Rachel said to Leah, 'Please give me some of your son's mandrakes.'
Vayelech Re'uven bimey ktsir-chitim vayimtsa duda'im basadeh vayave otam el-Leah imo vatomer Rachel el-Leah tni-na li miduda'ey benech.

ידוַיֵּ֨לֶךְ רְאוּבֵ֜ן בִּימֵ֣י קְצִֽיר־חִטִּ֗ים וַיִּמְצָ֤א דֽוּדָאִים֙ בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה וַיָּבֵ֣א אֹתָ֔ם אֶל־לֵאָ֖ה אִמּ֑וֹ וַתֹּ֤אמֶר רָחֵל֨ אֶל־לֵאָ֔ה תְּנִי־נָ֣א לִ֔י מִדּֽוּדָאֵ֖י בְּנֵֽךְ:

30:15

'Isn't it enough that you have taken away my husband?' retorted Leah. 'Now you even want to take my son's mandrakes!'

'All right,' replied Rachel. '[Jacob] will sleep with you tonight in exchange for your son's mandrakes.'
Vatomer lah hame'at kachtech et-ishi velakachat gam et-duda'ey beni vatomer Rachel lachen yishkav imach halaylah tachat duda'ey venech.

טווַתֹּ֣אמֶר לָ֗הּ הַֽמְעַט֙ קַחְתֵּ֣ךְ אֶת־אִישִׁ֔י וְלָקַ֕חַת גַּ֥ם אֶת־דּֽוּדָאֵ֖י בְּנִ֑י וַתֹּ֣אמֶר רָחֵ֗ל לָכֵן֙ יִשְׁכַּ֤ב עִמָּךְ֙ הַלַּ֔יְלָה תַּ֖חַת דּֽוּדָאֵ֥י בְנֵֽךְ:

30:16

When Jacob came home from the field that evening, Leah went out to meet him. 'You will come to me,' she said. 'I have paid for your services with my son's mandrakes.' He slept with her that night.
Vayavo Ya'akov min-hasadeh ba'erev vatetse Leah likrato vatomer elay tavo ki sachor secharticha beduda'ey beni vayishkav imah balaylah hu.

טזוַיָּבֹ֨א יַֽעֲקֹ֥ב מִן־הַשָּׂדֶה֘ בָּעֶ֒רֶב֒ וַתֵּצֵ֨א לֵאָ֜ה לִקְרָאת֗וֹ וַתֹּ֨אמֶר֙ אֵלַ֣י תָּב֔וֹא כִּ֚י שָׂכֹ֣ר שְׂכַרְתִּ֔יךָ בְּדֽוּדָאֵ֖י בְּנִ֑י וַיִּשְׁכַּ֥ב עִמָּ֖הּ בַּלַּ֥יְלָה הֽוּא:

30:17

God heard Leah's [prayer], and she became pregnant, giving birth to a fifth son to Jacob.
Vayishma Elohim el-Leah vatahar vateled le-Ya'akov ben-chamishi.

יזוַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶל־לֵאָ֑ה וַתַּ֛הַר וַתֵּ֥לֶד לְיַֽעֲקֹ֖ב בֵּ֥ן חֲמִישִֽׁי:

30:18

Leah said, 'God has given me my reward (sakhar) because I have given my handmaid to my husband.' She named the child Issachar.
Vatomer Leah natan Elohim sechari asher-natati shifchati le'ishi vatikra shmo Yisashchar.

יחוַתֹּ֣אמֶר לֵאָ֗ה נָתַ֤ן אֱלֹהִים֙ שְׂכָרִ֔י אֲשֶׁר־נָתַ֥תִּי שִׁפְחָתִ֖י לְאִישִׁ֑י וַתִּקְרָ֥א שְׁמ֖וֹ יִשָּׂשכָֽר:

30:19

Leah became pregnant again, and she bore Jacob a sixth son.
Vatahar od Leah vateled ben shishi le-Ya'akov.

יטוַתַּ֥הַר ע֖וֹד לֵאָ֑ה וַתֵּ֥לֶד בֵּֽן־שִׁשִּׁ֖י לְיַֽעֲקֹֽב:

30:20

'God has given me a wonderful gift (zeved),' said Leah. 'Now let my husband make his permanent home (zevul) with me.' She named the child Zebulun (Zevulun).
Vatomer Leah zvadani Elohim oti zeved tov hapa'am yizbeleni ishi ki-yaladeti lo shishah vanim vatikra et-shmo Zvulun.

כוַתֹּ֣אמֶר לֵאָ֗ה זְבָדַ֨נִי אֱלֹהִ֥ים | אֹתִי֘ זֶ֣בֶד טוֹב֒ הַפַּ֨עַם֙ יִזְבְּלֵ֣נִי אִישִׁ֔י כִּֽי־יָלַ֥דְתִּי ל֖וֹ שִׁשָּׁ֣ה בָנִ֑ים וַתִּקְרָ֥א אֶת־שְׁמ֖וֹ זְבֻלֽוּן:

30:21

Leah then had a daughter, and she named her Dinah.
Ve'achar yaldah bat vatikra et-shmah Dinah.

כאוְאַחַ֖ר יָ֣לְדָה בַּ֑ת וַתִּקְרָ֥א אֶת־שְׁמָ֖הּ דִּינָֽה:

30:22

God gave special consideration to Rachel. He heard her [prayer] and opened her womb.
Vayizkor Elohim et-Rachel vayishma eleyha Elohim vayiftach et-rachmah.

כבוַיִּזְכֹּ֥ר אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶת־רָחֵ֑ל וַיִּשְׁמַ֤ע אֵלֶ֨יהָ֙ אֱלֹהִ֔ים וַיִּפְתַּ֖ח אֶת־רַחְמָֽהּ:

30:23

She became pregnant and gave birth to a son. 'God has gathered away (asaph) my humiliation,' she said.
Vatahar vateled ben vatomer asaf Elohim et-cherpati.

כגוַתַּ֖הַר וַתֵּ֣לֶד בֵּ֑ן וַתֹּ֕אמֶר אָסַ֥ף אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶת־חֶרְפָּתִֽי:

30:24

She named the child Joseph (Yoseph), saying, 'May god grant another (yoseph) son to me.'
Vatikra et-shemo Yosef lemor yosef Adonay li ben acher.

כדוַתִּקְרָ֧א אֶת־שְׁמ֛וֹ יוֹסֵ֖ף לֵאמֹ֑ר יֹסֵ֧ף יְהֹוָ֛ה לִ֖י בֵּ֥ן אַחֵֽר:

30:25

After Rachel had given birth to Joseph, Jacob said to Laban, 'Let me leave. I would like to go home to my own land.
Vayehi ka'asher yaldah Rachel et-Yosef vayomer Ya'akov el-Lavan shalcheni ve'elchah el-mekomi ule'artsi.

כהוַיְהִ֕י כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֛ר יָֽלְדָ֥ה רָחֵ֖ל אֶת־יוֹסֵ֑ף וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יַֽעֲקֹב֙ אֶל־לָבָ֔ן שַׁלְּחֵ֨נִי֙ וְאֵ֣לְכָ֔ה אֶל־מְקוֹמִ֖י וּלְאַרְצִֽי:

30:26

Let me have my wives and children, since I have earned them by working for you, and I will go. You are well aware of the service that I rendered you.'
Tenah et-nashay ve'et-yeladay asher avadeti otecha bahen ve'elechah ki atah yadata et-avodati asher avadeticha.

כותְּנָ֞ה אֶת־נָשַׁ֣י וְאֶת־יְלָדַ֗י אֲשֶׁ֨ר עָבַ֧דְתִּי אֹֽתְךָ֛ בָּהֵ֖ן וְאֵלֵ֑כָה כִּ֚י אַתָּ֣ה יָדַ֔עְתָּ אֶת־עֲבֹֽדָתִ֖י אֲשֶׁ֥ר עֲבַדְתִּֽיךָ:

30:27

'Haven't I earned your friendship?' replied Laban. 'I have made use of divination and have learned that it is because of you that God has blessed me.'
Vayomer elav Lavan im-na matsati chen be'eyneycha nichashti vayevarcheni Adonay biglalecha.

כזוַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלָיו֙ לָבָ֔ן אִם־נָ֛א מָצָ֥אתִי חֵ֖ן בְּעֵינֶ֑יךָ נִחַ֕שְׁתִּי וַיְבָֽרֲכֵ֥נִי יְהֹוָ֖ה בִּגְלָלֶֽךָ:

30:28

Fifth Reading
'Just name your price!' said [Laban]. 'I will give it!'
Vayomar nakvah secharecha alay ve'etenah.

כחוַיֹּאמַ֑ר נָקְבָ֧ה שְׂכָֽרְךָ֛ עָלַ֖י וְאֶתֵּֽנָה:

30:29

'You know full well how I worked for you,' replied [Jacob], 'and how your livestock fared with me.
Vayomer elav atah yadata et asher avadeticha ve'et asher-hayah miknecha iti.

כטוַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֔יו אַתָּ֣ה יָדַ֔עְתָּ אֵ֖ת אֲשֶׁ֣ר עֲבַדְתִּ֑יךָ וְאֵ֛ת אֲשֶׁר־הָיָ֥ה מִקְנְךָ֖ אִתִּֽי:

30:30

You had very little before I came, but since then it has increased and become very substantial. God blessed you with my coming. But when will I do something to build my own estate?'
Ki me'at asher-hayah lecha lefanay vayifrots larov vayevarech Adonay otcha leragli ve'atah matay e'eseh gam-anochi leveyti.

לכִּ֡י מְעַט֩ אֲשֶׁר־הָיָ֨ה לְךָ֤ לְפָנַי֙ וַיִּפְרֹ֣ץ לָרֹ֔ב וַיְבָ֧רֶךְ יְהֹוָ֛ה אֹֽתְךָ֖ לְרַגְלִ֑י וְעַתָּ֗ה מָתַ֛י אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֥ה גַם־אָֽנֹכִ֖י לְבֵיתִֽי:

30:31

'What shall I give you?'

'Do not give me anything. Just do this one thing for me. I will come back and tend your sheep, giving them the best care.
Vayomer mah eten-lach vayomer Ya'akov lo-titen-li me'umah im-ta'aseh-li hadavar hazeh ashuvah er'eh tsoncha eshmor.

לאוַיֹּ֖אמֶר מָ֣ה אֶתֶּן־לָ֑ךְ וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יַֽעֲקֹב֙ לֹֽא־תִתֶּן־לִ֣י מְא֔וּמָה אִם־תַּֽעֲשֶׂה־לִּי֙ הַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֔ה אָשׁ֛וּבָה אֶרְעֶ֥ה צֹֽאנְךָ֖ אֶשְׁמֹֽר:

30:32

I will go through all your flocks [with you] today. Remove every lamb that is spotted or streaked, every sheep that has dark markings. [Also remove] every goat that is streaked or spotted. It is with that kind that I will be paid.
E'evor bechol-tsoncha hayom haser misham kol-seh nakod vetalu vechol-seh-chum baksavim vetalu venakod ba'izim vahayah sechari.

לבאֶֽעֱבֹ֨ר בְּכָל־צֹֽאנְךָ֜ הַיּ֗וֹם הָסֵ֨ר מִשָּׁ֜ם כָּל־שֶׂ֣ה | נָקֹ֣ד וְטָל֗וּא וְכָל־שֶׂה־חוּם֙ בַּכְּשָׂבִ֔ים וְטָל֥וּא וְנָקֹ֖ד בָּֽעִזִּ֑ים וְהָיָ֖ה שְׂכָרִֽי:

30:33

'In the future, this will be a sign of my honesty. I will let you inspect all that I have taken as my pay. Any goat that is not spotted or streaked, or any sheep without dark markings, that is in my possession can be considered stolen.'
Ve'antah-bi tsidkati beyom machar ki-tavo al-schari lefaneycha kol asher-eyneynu nakod vetalu ba'izim vechum baksavim ganuv hu iti.

לגוְעָֽנְתָה־בִּ֤י צִדְקָתִי֙ בְּי֣וֹם מָחָ֔ר כִּֽי־תָב֥וֹא עַל־שְׂכָרִ֖י לְפָנֶ֑יךָ כֹּ֣ל אֲשֶׁר־אֵינֶ֩נּוּ֩ נָקֹ֨ד וְטָל֜וּא בָּֽעִזִּ֗ים וְחוּם֙ בַּכְּשָׂבִ֔ים גָּנ֥וּב ה֖וּא אִתִּֽי:

30:34

'Agreed!' replied Laban. 'May your words only come true!'
Vayomer Lavan hen lu yehi chidvarecha.

לדוַיֹּ֥אמֶר לָבָ֖ן הֵ֑ן ל֖וּ יְהִ֥י כִדְבָרֶֽךָ:

30:35

That day, [Laban] removed the ringed and streaked he-goats, and all the spotted and streaked she-goats - every one with a trace of white. [He also removed] every sheep with dark markings. These he gave to his sons.
Vayasar bayom hahu et-hateyashim ha'akudim vehatlu'im ve'et kol-ha'izim hanekudot vehatlu'ot kol-asher-Lavan bo vechol-chum baksavim vayiten beyad-banav.

להוַיָּ֣סַר בַּיּוֹם֩ הַה֨וּא אֶת־הַתְּיָשִׁ֜ים הָֽעֲקֻדִּ֣ים וְהַטְּלֻאִ֗ים וְאֵ֤ת כָּל־הָֽעִזִּים֙ הַנְּקֻדּ֣וֹת וְהַטְּלֻאֹ֔ת כֹּ֤ל אֲשֶׁר־לָבָן֙ בּ֔וֹ וְכָל־ח֖וּם בַּכְּשָׂבִ֑ים וַיִּתֵּ֖ן בְּיַד־בָּנָֽיו:

30:36

He then separated himself from Jacob by the distance of a three day journey. Jacob was left tending Laban's remaining sheep.
Vayasem derech shloshet yamim beyno uveyn Ya'akov veYa'akov ro'eh et-tson Lavan hanotarot.

לווַיָּ֗שֶׂם דֶּ֚רֶךְ שְׁל֣שֶׁת יָמִ֔ים בֵּינ֖וֹ וּבֵ֣ין יַֽעֲקֹ֑ב וְיַֽעֲקֹ֗ב רֹעֶ֛ה אֶת־צֹ֥אן לָבָ֖ן הַנּֽוֹתָרֹֽת:

30:37

Jacob took wands of fresh storax, almond and plane. He peeled white stripes in them by uncovering the white layer under the wands' [bark].
Vayikach-lo Ya'akov makal livneh lach veluz ve'armon vayefatsel bahen petsalot levanot machsof halavan asher al-hamaklot.

לזוַיִּקַּח־ל֣וֹ יַֽעֲקֹ֗ב מַקַּ֥ל לִבְנֶ֛ה לַ֖ח וְל֣וּז וְעַרְמ֑וֹן וַיְפַצֵּ֤ל בָּהֵן֙ פְּצָל֣וֹת לְבָנ֔וֹת מַחְשׂף֙ הַלָּבָ֔ן אֲשֶׁ֖ר עַל־הַמַּקְלֽוֹת:

30:38

He set up the wands that he peeled near the watering troughs where the flocks came to drink, facing the animals. It was when they came to drink that they usually mated.
Vayatseg et-hamaklot asher pitsel barehatim beshikatot hamayim asher tavona hatson lishtot lenochach hatson vayechamnah bevo'an lishtot.

לחוַיַּצֵּ֗ג אֶת־הַמַּקְלוֹת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר פִּצֵּ֔ל בָּֽרְהָטִ֖ים בְּשִֽׁקֲת֣וֹת הַמָּ֑יִם אֲשֶׁר֩ תָּבֹ֨אןָ הַצֹּ֤אן לִשְׁתּוֹת֙ לְנֹ֣כַח הַצֹּ֔אן וַיֵּחַ֖מְנָה בְּבֹאָ֥ן לִשְׁתּֽוֹת:

30:39

The animals mated in the presence of the wands, and the young they bore were ringed, spotted and streaked.
Vayechemu hatson el-hamaklot vateladnah hatson akudim nekudim utlu'im.

לטוַיֶּֽחֱמ֥וּ הַצֹּ֖אן אֶל־הַמַּקְל֑וֹת וַתֵּלַ֣דְןָ הַצֹּ֔אן עֲקֻדִּ֥ים נְקֻדִּ֖ים וּטְלֻאִֽים:

30:40

Jacob segregated the young animals. Still, he made the animals in Laban's flocks look at the ringed ones and all those with dark markings. But he bred his own flocks separately, and did not let them breed with Laban's flocks.
Vehaksavim hifrid Ya'akov vayiten peney hatson el-akod vechol-chum betson Lavan vayashet lo adarim levado velo shatam al-tson Lavan.

מוְהַכְּשָׂבִים֘ הִפְרִ֣יד יַֽעֲקֹב֒ וַ֠יִּתֵּ֠ן פְּנֵ֨י הַצֹּ֧אן אֶל־עָקֹ֛ד וְכָל־ח֖וּם בְּצֹ֣אן לָבָ֑ן וַיָּ֨שֶׁת ל֤וֹ עֲדָרִים֙ לְבַדּ֔וֹ וְלֹ֥א שָׁתָ֖ם עַל־צֹ֥אן לָבָֽן:

30:41

Whenever the stronger animals mated, Jacob placed the wands before their eyes at the troughs, so that they would mate facing the wands.
Vehayah bechol-yachem hatson hamekusharot vesam Ya'akov et-hamaklot le'eyney hatson barehatim leyachmenah bamaklot.

מאוְהָיָ֗ה בְּכָל־יַחֵם֘ הַצֹּ֣אן הַֽמְקֻשָּׁרוֹת֒ וְשָׂ֨ם יַֽעֲקֹ֧ב אֶת־הַמַּקְל֛וֹת לְעֵינֵ֥י הַצֹּ֖אן בָּֽרְהָטִ֑ים לְיַחֲמֵ֖נָּה בַּמַּקְלֽוֹת:

30:42

But when the sheep were feeble, he did not place [the wands]. The feeble ones thus went to Laban, while Jacob got the stronger ones.
Uveha'atif hatson lo yasim vehayah ha'atufim le-Lavan vehakshurim le-Ya'akov.

מבוּבְהַֽעֲטִ֥יף הַצֹּ֖אן לֹ֣א יָשִׂ֑ים וְהָיָ֤ה הָֽעֲטֻפִים֙ לְלָבָ֔ן וְהַקְּשֻׁרִ֖ים לְיַֽעֲקֹֽב:

30:43

In this manner, the man became tremendously wealthy. He had many sheep and goats, as well as slaves, slave-girls, camels and donkeys.
