Genesis - Chapter 45

45:1

Joseph could not hold in his emotions. Since all his attendants were present, he cried out, 'Have everyone leave my presence!' Thus, no one else was with him when Joseph revealed himself to his brothers. 
Velo-yachol Yosef lehit'apek lechol hanitsavim alav vayikra hotsi'u chol-ish me'alay velo-amad ish ito behitvada Yosef el-echav.

אוְלֹֽא־יָכֹ֨ל יוֹסֵ֜ף לְהִתְאַפֵּ֗ק לְכֹ֤ל הַנִּצָּבִים֙ עָלָ֔יו וַיִּקְרָ֕א הוֹצִ֥יאוּ כָל־אִ֖ישׁ מֵֽעָלָ֑י וְלֹא־עָ֤מַד אִישׁ֙ אִתּ֔וֹ בְּהִתְוַדַּ֥ע יוֹסֵ֖ף אֶל־אֶחָֽיו:

45:2

He began to weep with such loud sobs that the Egyptians could hear it. The news [of these strange happenings] reached Pharaoh's palace. 
Vayiten et-kolo bivechi vayishme'u Mitsrayim vayishma beyt Par'oh.

בוַיִּתֵּ֥ן אֶת־קֹל֖וֹ בִּבְכִ֑י וַיִּשְׁמְע֣וּ מִצְרַ֔יִם וַיִּשְׁמַ֖ע בֵּ֥ית פַּרְעֹֽה:

45:3

Joseph said to his brothers, 'I am Joseph! Is my father still alive?' His brothers were so startled, they could not respond. 
Vayomer Yosef el-echav ani Yosef ha'od avi chay velo-yachlu echav la'anot oto ki nivhalu mipanav.

גוַיֹּ֨אמֶר יוֹסֵ֤ף אֶל־אֶחָיו֙ אֲנִ֣י יוֹסֵ֔ף הַע֥וֹד אָבִ֖י חָ֑י וְלֹא־יָֽכְל֤וּ אֶחָיו֙ לַֽעֲנ֣וֹת אֹת֔וֹ כִּ֥י נִבְהֲל֖וּ מִפָּנָֽיו:

45:4

'Please, come close to me,' said Joseph to his brothers.

When they came closer, he said, 'I am Joseph your brother! You sold me to Egypt. 
Vayomer Yosef el-echav gshu-na elay vayigashu vayomer ani Yosef achichem asher-mechartem oti Mitsraymah.

דוַיֹּ֨אמֶר יוֹסֵ֧ף אֶל־אֶחָ֛יו גְּשׁוּ־נָ֥א אֵלַ֖י וַיִּגָּ֑שׁוּ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר אֲנִי֙ יוֹסֵ֣ף אֲחִיכֶ֔ם אֲשֶׁר־מְכַרְתֶּ֥ם אֹתִ֖י מִצְרָֽיְמָה:

45:5

Now don't worry or feel guilty because you sold me. Look! God has sent me ahead of you to save lives! 
Ve'atah al-te'atsevu ve'al-yichar be'eyneychem ki-mechartem oti henah ki lemichyah shlachani Elohim lifneychem.

הוְעַתָּ֣ה | אַל־תֵּעָ֣צְב֗וּ וְאַל־יִ֨חַר֙ בְּעֵ֣ינֵיכֶ֔ם כִּֽי־מְכַרְתֶּ֥ם אֹתִ֖י הֵ֑נָּה כִּ֣י לְמִחְיָ֔ה שְׁלָחַ֥נִי אֱלֹהִ֖ים לִפְנֵיכֶֽם:

45:6

There has been a famine in the area for two years, and for another five years there will be no plowing or harvest. 
Ki-zeh shnatayim hara'av bekerev ha'arets ve'od chamesh shanim asher eyn-charish vekatsir.

וכִּי־זֶ֛ה שְׁנָתַ֥יִם הָֽרָעָ֖ב בְּקֶ֣רֶב הָאָ֑רֶץ וְעוֹד֙ חָמֵ֣שׁ שָׁנִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֵֽין־חָרִ֖ישׁ וְקָצִֽיר:

45:7

God has sent me ahead of you to insure that you survive in the land and to keep you alive through suchextraordinary means. 
Vayishlacheni Elohim lifneychem lasum lachem she'erit ba'arets ulehachayot lachem lifleytah gedolah.

זוַיִּשְׁלָחֵ֤נִי אֱלֹהִים֙ לִפְנֵיכֶ֔ם לָשׂ֥וּם לָכֶ֛ם שְׁאֵרִ֖ית בָּאָ֑רֶץ וּלְהַֽחֲי֣וֹת לָכֶ֔ם לִפְלֵיטָ֖ה גְּדֹלָֽה:

45:8

Third Reading
'Now it is not you who sent me here, but God. He has made me Pharaoh's vizier, director of his entire government, and dictator of all Egypt. 
Ve'atah lo-atem shlachtem oti henah ki ha'Elohim vayesimeni le'av le-Far'oh ule'adon lechol-beyto umoshel bechol-erets Mitsrayim.

חוְעַתָּ֗ה לֹֽא־אַתֶּ֞ם שְׁלַחְתֶּ֤ם אֹתִי֙ הֵ֔נָּה כִּ֖י הָֽאֱלֹהִ֑ים וַיְשִׂימֵ֨נִי לְאָ֜ב לְפַרְעֹ֗ה וּלְאָדוֹן֙ לְכָל־בֵּית֔וֹ וּמשֵׁ֖ל בְּכָל־אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם:

45:9

'Hurry, go back to my father, and give him the message: Your son Joseph says, 'God has made me master of all Egypt. Come to me without delay. 
Maharu va'alu el-avi va'amartem elav koh amar bincha Yosef samani Elohim le'adon lechol-Mitsrayim redah elay al-ta'amod.

טמַֽהֲרוּ֘ וַֽעֲל֣וּ אֶל־אָבִי֒ וַֽאֲמַרְתֶּ֣ם אֵלָ֗יו כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ בִּנְךָ֣ יוֹסֵ֔ף שָׂמַ֧נִי אֱלֹהִ֛ים לְאָד֖וֹן לְכָל־מִצְרָ֑יִם רְדָ֥ה אֵלַ֖י אַל־תַּֽעֲמֹֽד:

45:10

You will be able to settle in the Goshen district and be close to me - you, your children, your grandchildren, your sheep, your cattle, and all that you own. 
Veyashavta ve'erets-Goshen vehayita karov elay atah uvaneycha uvney vaneycha vetsoncha uvekarcha vechol-asher-lach.

יוְיָֽשַׁבְתָּ֣ בְאֶֽרֶץ־גּ֗שֶׁן וְהָיִ֤יתָ קָרוֹב֙ אֵלַ֔י אַתָּ֕ה וּבָנֶ֖יךָ וּבְנֵ֣י בָנֶ֑יךָ וְצֹֽאנְךָ֥ וּבְקָֽרְךָ֖ וְכָל־אֲשֶׁר־לָֽךְ:

45:11

I will fully provide for you there, since there will still be another five years of famine. I do not want you to become destitute, along with your family and all that is yours.' 
Vechilkalti otcha sham ki-od chamesh shanim ra'av pen-tivaresh atah uveytcha vechol-asher-lach.

יאוְכִלְכַּלְתִּ֤י אֹֽתְךָ֙ שָׁ֔ם כִּי־ע֛וֹד חָמֵ֥שׁ שָׁנִ֖ים רָעָ֑ב פֶּן־תִּוָּרֵ֛שׁ אַתָּ֥ה וּבֵֽיתְךָ֖ וְכָל־אֲשֶׁר־לָֽךְ:

45:12

'You and my brother Benjamin can see with your own eyes that I myself am speaking to you. 
Vehineh eyneychem ro'ot ve'eyney achi Vinyamin ki-fi hamedaber aleychem.

יבוְהִנֵּ֤ה עֵֽינֵיכֶם֙ רֹא֔וֹת וְעֵינֵ֖י אָחִ֣י בִנְיָמִ֑ין כִּי־פִ֖י הַֽמְדַבֵּ֥ר אֲלֵיכֶֽם:

45:13

Tell Father all about my high position in Egypt, and about all that you saw. You must hurry and bring Father here.' 
Vehigadetem le-avi et-kol-kvodi beMitsrayim ve'et kol-asher re'item umihartem vehoradetem et-avi henah.

יגוְהִגַּדְתֶּ֣ם לְאָבִ֗י אֶת־כָּל־כְּבוֹדִי֙ בְּמִצְרַ֔יִם וְאֵ֖ת כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר רְאִיתֶ֑ם וּמִֽהַרְתֶּ֛ם וְהֽוֹרַדְתֶּ֥ם אֶת־אָבִ֖י הֵֽנָּה:

45:14

[With that, Joseph] fell on the shoulders of his brother Benjamin, and he wept. Benjamin [also] wept on [Joseph's] shoulders. 
Vayipol al-tsavrey Vinyamin-achiv vayevk uVinyamin bacha al-tsavarav.

ידוַיִּפֹּ֛ל עַל־צַוְּארֵ֥י בִנְיָֽמִן־אָחִ֖יו וַיֵּ֑בְךְּ וּבִ֨נְיָמִ֔ן בָּכָ֖ה עַל־צַוָּארָֽיו:

45:15

[Joseph] then kissed all his brothers and wept on their [shoulders]. After that, his brothers conversed with him. 
Vayenashek lechol-echav vayevk alehem ve'acharey chen dibru echav ito.

טווַיְנַשֵּׁ֥ק לְכָל־אֶחָ֖יו וַיֵּ֣בְךְּ עֲלֵהֶ֑ם וְאַ֣חֲרֵי כֵ֔ן דִּבְּר֥וּ אֶחָ֖יו אִתּֽוֹ:

45:16

News spread to Pharaoh's palace that Joseph's brothers had shown up. Pharaoh and his advisors were pleased. 
Vehakol nishma beyt Par'oh lemor ba'u achey Yosef vayitav be'eyney Far'oh uve'eyney avadav.

טזוְהַקֹּ֣ל נִשְׁמַ֗ע בֵּ֤ית פַּרְעֹה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר בָּ֖אוּ אֲחֵ֣י יוֹסֵ֑ף וַיִּיטַב֙ בְּעֵינֵ֣י פַרְעֹ֔ה וּבְעֵינֵ֖י עֲבָדָֽיו:

45:17

Pharaoh told Joseph to instruct his brothers, 'This is what you must do: Load your beasts and go directly to Canaan. 
Vayomer Par'oh el-Yosef emor el-acheycha zot asu ta'anu et-be'irchem ulchu-vo'u artsah Kena'an.

יזוַיֹּ֤אמֶר פַּרְעֹה֙ אֶל־יוֹסֵ֔ף אֱמֹ֥ר אֶל־אַחֶ֖יךָ זֹ֣את עֲשׂ֑וּ טַֽעֲנוּ֙ אֶת־בְּעִ֣ירְכֶ֔ם וּלְכוּ־בֹ֖אוּ אַ֥רְצָה כְּנָֽעַן:

45:18

Bring your father and your families and come to me. I will give you the best land in Egypt. You will eat the fat of the land. 
Ukechu et-avichem ve'et-bateychem uvo'u elay ve'etnah lachem et-tuv erets Mitsrayim ve'ichlu et-chelev ha'arets.

יחוּקְח֧וּ אֶת־אֲבִיכֶ֛ם וְאֶת־בָּֽתֵּיכֶ֖ם וּבֹ֣אוּ אֵלָ֑י וְאֶתְּנָ֣ה לָכֶ֗ם אֶת־טוּב֙ אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם וְאִכְל֖וּ אֶת־חֵ֥לֶב הָאָֽרֶץ:

45:19

Fourth Reading
Now you are instructed to do the following: Take wagons from Egypt for your small children and wives, and also use them for your father. Come 
Ve'atah tsuveytah zot asu kchu-lachem me'erets Mitsrayim agalot letapchem velinsheychem unsatem et-avichem uvatem.

יטוְאַתָּ֥ה צֻוֵּ֖יתָה זֹ֣את עֲשׂ֑וּ קְחֽוּ־לָכֶם֩ מֵאֶ֨רֶץ מִצְרַ֜יִם עֲגָל֗וֹת לְטַפְּכֶם֙ וְלִנְשֵׁיכֶ֔ם וּנְשָׂאתֶ֥ם אֶת־אֲבִיכֶ֖ם וּבָאתֶֽם:

45:20

and do not be concerned with your belongings, for the best of Egypt will be yours.' 
Ve'eynechem al-tachos al-kleychem ki-tuv kol-erets Mitsrayim lachem hu.

כוְעֵ֣ינְכֶ֔ם אַל־תָּחֹ֖ס עַל־כְּלֵיכֶ֑ם כִּי־ט֛וּב כָּל־אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרַ֖יִם לָכֶ֥ם הֽוּא:

45:21

Israel's sons agreed to do this. Joseph gave them wagons according to Pharaoh's instructions, and he also provided them with food for the journey. 
Vaya'asu-chen beney Yisra'el vayiten lahem Yosef agalot al-pi Far'oh vayiten lahem tsedah ladarech.

כאוַיַּֽעֲשׂוּ־כֵן֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיִּתֵּ֨ן לָהֶ֥ם יוֹסֵ֛ף עֲגָל֖וֹת עַל־פִּ֣י פַרְעֹ֑ה וַיִּתֵּ֥ן לָהֶ֛ם צֵדָ֖ה לַדָּֽרֶךְ:

45:22

He gave each of [his brothers] an outfit of clothes. To Benjamin, however, he gave 300 pieces of silver and five outfits. 
Lechulam natan la'ish chalifot smalot ule-Vinyamin natan shlosh me'ot kesef vechamesh chalifot smalot.

כבלְכֻלָּ֥ם נָתַ֛ן לָאִ֖ישׁ חֲלִפ֣וֹת שְׂמָלֹ֑ת וּלְבִנְיָמִ֤ן נָתַן֙ שְׁל֣שׁ מֵא֣וֹת כֶּ֔סֶף וְחָמֵ֖שׁ חֲלִפֹ֥ת שְׂמָלֹֽת:

45:23

[Joseph] sent the following to his father: Ten male donkeys, loaded with Egypt's finest products, as well as ten female donkeys, loaded with grain, bread, and food for his father's journey. 
Ule'aviv shalach kezot asarah chamorim nos'im mituv Mitsrayim ve'eser atonot nos'ot bar valechem umazon le'aviv ladarech.

כגוּלְאָבִ֞יו שָׁלַ֤ח כְּזֹאת֙ עֲשָׂרָ֣ה חֲמֹרִ֔ים נֹֽשְׂאִ֖ים מִטּ֣וּב מִצְרָ֑יִם וְעֶ֣שֶׂר אֲתֹנֹ֡ת נֹֽ֠שְׂאֹ֠ת בָּ֣ר וָלֶ֧חֶם וּמָז֛וֹן לְאָבִ֖יו לַדָּֽרֶךְ:

45:24

He sent his brothers on their way. As they were leaving, he said to them, 'Have a pleasant journey!' 
Vayeshalach et-echav vayelechu vayomer alehem al-tirgezu badarech.

כדוַיְשַׁלַּ֥ח אֶת־אֶחָ֖יו וַיֵּלֵ֑כוּ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵהֶ֔ם אַל־תִּרְגְּז֖וּ בַּדָּֽרֶךְ:

45:25

[The brothers] headed north from Egypt, and they came to their father Jacob in Canaan. 
Vaya'alu mi-Mitsrayim vayavo'u erets Kena'an el-Ya'akov avihem.

כהוַיַּֽעֲל֖וּ מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם וַיָּבֹ֨אוּ֙ אֶ֣רֶץ כְּנַ֔עַן אֶל־יַֽעֲקֹ֖ב אֲבִיהֶֽם:

45:26

They broke the news to him: 'Joseph is still alive. He is the ruler of all Egypt.' 
Vayagidu lo lemor od Yosef chay vechi-hu moshel bechol-erets Mitsrayim vayafag libo ki lo-he'emin lahem.

כווַיַּגִּ֨דוּ ל֜וֹ לֵאמֹ֗ר ע֚וֹד יוֹסֵ֣ף חַ֔י וְכִי־ה֥וּא משֵׁ֖ל בְּכָל־אֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרָ֑יִם וַיָּ֣פָג לִבּ֔וֹ כִּ֥י לֹא־הֶֽאֱמִ֖ין לָהֶֽם:

45:27

[Jacob's] heart became numb, for he could not believe them. 
Vayedabru elav et kol-divrey Yosef asher diber alehem vayar et-ha'agalot asher-shalach Yosef laset oto vatechi ruach Ya'akov avihem.

כזוַיְדַבְּר֣וּ אֵלָ֗יו אֵ֣ת כָּל־דִּבְרֵ֤י יוֹסֵף֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֶּ֣ר אֲלֵהֶ֔ם וַיַּרְא֙ אֶת־הָ֣עֲגָל֔וֹת אֲשֶׁר־שָׁלַ֥ח יוֹסֵ֖ף לָשֵׂ֣את אֹת֑וֹ וַתְּחִ֕י ר֖וּחַ יַֽעֲקֹ֥ב אֲבִיהֶֽם:

45:28

Fifth Reading
'It's too much!' said Israel. 'My son Joseph is alive! I must go and see him before I die!' 
Vayomer Yisra'el rav od-Yosef beni chay elchah ve'er'enu beterem amut.

כחוַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל רַ֛ב עֽוֹד־יוֹסֵ֥ף בְּנִ֖י חָ֑י אֵֽלְכָ֥ה וְאֶרְאֶ֖נּוּ בְּטֶ֥רֶם אָמֽוּת:
