For the leader. Of David. The fool says in his heart: there is no God. They are corrupt; their deeds are vile; there is none who does good.
Adonai looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there is any who has understanding, who seeks God.
Hakól sar yakhdáv ne’elakhú, ein ’oséh-tov ein gam-ekhád. They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one.
Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, who devour my people as they eat bread, and do not call upon Adonai?
Sham pakhadú pakhád, ki-Elohím bedór tsadík. There they were in great fear, for God is with the generation of the righteous.
Atsat-’aní tavíshu, ki Adonai makhsého. You would shame the counsel of the poor, but Adonai is his refuge.
מִי יִתֵּן מִצִּיּוֹן יְשׁוּעַת יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּשׁוּב יהוה שְׁבוּת עַמּוֹ יָגֵל יַעֲקֹב יִשְׂמַח יִשְׂרָאֵל Mi yittén miTsiyyón yeshu’at Yisra’él, beshúv Adonai shevút ’ammó, yaguél Ya’aqóv yismákh Yisra’él. Oh that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When Adonai restores the fortunes of His people, Jacob shall rejoice and Israel shall be glad.
