| 1 | עַל נַהֲרוֹת בָּבֶל שָׁם יָשַׁבְנוּ גַּם־בָּכִינוּ בְּזָכְרֵנוּ אֶת־צִיּוֹן | Al na-ha-rót Ba-vél; shám ya-shav-nú gam ba-khí-nu; be-zokh-ré-nu et Tzi-yón. | By the waters of Babylon, there we sat down and wept, when we remembered Zion. |
| 2 | עַל־עֲרָבִים בְּתוֹכָהּ תָּלִינוּ כִּנֹּרוֹתֵינוּ | Al a-ra-vím be-to-kháh; ta-lí-nu ki-no-ró-te-nu. | On the willows there we hung up our lyres. |
| 3 | כִּי שָׁם שְׁאֵלוּנוּ שׁוֹבֵינוּ דִּבְרֵי־שִׁיר וְתוֹלָלֵינוּ שִׂמְחָה שִׁירוּ לָנוּ מִשִּׁיר צִיּוֹן | Ki shám she-e-lú-nu sho-ve-nú div-réi shír; ve-to-la-lé-nu sim-kháh; shí-ru lá-nu mi-shír Tzi-yón. | For there our captors required of us songs, and our tormentors, mirth, saying, ‘Sing us one of the songs of Zion!’ |

| 5 | אִם־אֶשְׁכָּחֵךְ יְרוּשָׁלִָם תִּשְׁכַּח יְמִינִי | Im esh-ka-khé-khi Ye-ru-sha-lá-yim; tish-kakh ye-mi-ní. | If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget its skill! |
| 6 | תִּדְבַּק־לְשׁוֹנִי לְחִכִּי אִם־לֹא אֶזְכְּרֵכִי אִם־לֹא אַעֲלֶה אֶת־יְרוּשָׁלִַם עַל רֹאשׁ שִׂמְחָתִי | Tid-bak le-sho-ní le-khi-kí; im lo ez-ke-ré-khi; im lo a-a-léh et Ye-ru-sha-lá-yim al rósh sim-kha-tí. | Let my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth, if I do not remember you, if I do not set Jerusalem above my highest joy! |
| 7 | זְכֹר יְהוָה לִבְנֵי אֱדוֹם אֵת יוֹם יְרוּשָׁלִָם הָאֹמְרִים עָרוּ עָרוּ עַד הַיְסוֹד בָּהּ | Zekhór Ado-nái li-ve-néi E-dóm; et yom Ye-ru-sha-lá-yim; ha-om-rím a-rú a-rú; ad ha-ye-sód báh. | Remember, O the LORD, against the Edomites the day of Jerusalem, how they said, ‘Lay it bare, lay it bare, down to its foundations!’ |
| 8 | בַּת־בָּבֶל הַשְּׁדוּדָה אַשְׁרֵי שֶׁיְשַׁלֶּם־לָךְ אֶת־גְּמוּלֵךְ שֶׁגָּמַלְתְּ לָנוּ | Bat Ba-vél ha-she-du-dáh; ash-réi she-ye-shal-lém lákh et ge-mu-lé-khi she-ga-mált lá-nu. | O daughter of Babylon, doomed to be destroyed, blessed shall he be who repays you with what you have done to us! |
| 9 | אַשְׁרֵי שֶׁיֹּאחֵז וְנִפֵּץ אֶת־עֹלָלַיִךְ אֶל־הַסָּלַע | Ash-réi she-yo-khéz ve-ni-p-pétz et o-la-la-yíkh el ha-sá-la. | Blessed shall he be who takes your little ones and dashes them against the rock! |
