| 2 | שִׁמְעוּ־זֹאת כָּל־הָעַמִּים הַאֲזִינוּ כָּל־יֹשְׁבֵי חָלֶד | Shim-ú zót kál ha-am-mím; ha-azí-nu kál yo-sh-véi khé-led. | Hear this, all peoples! Give ear, all inhabitants of the world. |
| 3 | גַּם־בְּנֵי אָדָם גַּם־בְּנֵי־אִישׁ יַחַד עָשִׁיר וְאֶבְיוֹן | Gam be-néi a-dám gam be-néi ísh; yakh-dáv a-shír ve-ev-yón. | Both low and high, rich and poor together! |
| 4 | פִּי יְדַבֵּר חָכְמוֹת וְהָגוּת לִבִּי תְבוּנוֹת | Pi ye-dab-bér khokh-mót; ve-ha-gút lib-bí te-vu-nót. | My mouth shall speak wisdom; the meditation of my heart shall be understanding. |
| 5 | אַטֶּה לְמָשָׁל אָזְנִי אֶפְתַּח בְּכִנּוֹר חִידָתִי | At-téh le-má-shal oz-ní; ef-tákh be-khin-nór khí-da-tí. | I will incline my ear to a proverb; I will solve my riddle to the music of the lyre. |
| 6 | לָמָּה אִירָא בִּימֵי רָע עֲוֺן עֲקֵבַי יְסוּבֵּנִי | La-máh i-rá bi-méi rá; a-vón a-ke-vái ye-su-b-bé-ni. | Why should I fear in times of trouble, when the iniquity of those who cheat me surrounds me? |
| 7 | הַבֹּטְחִים עַל־חֵילָם וּבְרֹב עָשְׁרָם יִתְהַלָּלוּ | Ha-bo-te-khím al khe-lám; u-ve-róv osh-rám yit-hal-lá-lu. | Those who trust in their wealth and boast of the abundance of their riches. |
| 8 | אָח לֹא־פָדֹה יִפְדֶּה אִישׁ לֹא־יִתֵּן לֵאלֹהִים כָּפְרוֹ | Akh pa-dóh lo yif-déh ísh; lo yi-tén le-E-lo-hím ko-f-ró. | Truly no man can ransom another, or give to God the price of his life. |
| 9 | וְיֵקַר פִּדְיוֹן נַפְשָׁם וְחָדַל לְעוֹלָם | Ve-ya-kér pid-yón naf-shám; ve-kha-dál le-o-lám. | For the ransom of their life is costly and can never suffice. |
| 10 | וִיחִי־עוֹד לָנֶצַח לֹא יִרְאֶה הַשָּׁחַת | Ve-ye-khí od la-né-tzakh; lo yir-éh ha-shá-khat. | So that he should live on forever and never see the pit. |
| 11 | כִּי יִרְאֶה חֲכָמִים יָמוּתוּ יַחַד כְּסִיל וָבַעַר יֹאבֵדוּ וְעָזְבוּ לַאֲחֵרִים חֵילָם | Ki yir-éh kha-kha-mím ya-mú-tu; yakh-dad ke-síl va-va-ár yo-vé-du; ve-a-ze-vú la-a-khé-rim khe-lám. | For he sees that even the wise die; the fool and the stupid alike must perish and leave their wealth to others. |
| 12 | קִרְבָּם בָּתֵּימוֹ לְעוֹלָם מִשְׁכְּנֹתָם לְדֹר וָדֹר קָרְאוּ בִשְׁמוֹתָם עֲלֵי אֲדָמוֹת | Kir-bám bat-té-mo le-o-lám; mish-ke-no-tám le-dor va-dór; kar-e-ú vi-sh-mo-tám a-léi a-da-moót. | Their graves are their homes forever, their dwelling places to all generations, though they called lands by their own names. |
| 13 | וְאָדָם בִּיקָר בַּל־יָלִין נִמְשַׁל כַּבְּהֵמוֹת נִדְמוּ | Ve-a-dám bi-kár bal ya-lín; nim-shál ka-be-hemót nid-mú. | Man in his pomp will not remain; he is like the beasts that perish. |
| 14 | זֶה דַרְכָּם כֵּסֶל לָמוֹ וְאַחֲרֵיהֶם בְּפִיהֶם יִרְצוּ סֶלָה | Ze dar-kám ke-sél la-mó ve-a-kha-re-hém be-fí-hem yir-tzú. Sé-lah. | This is the path of those who have foolish confidence; yet after them people approve of their boasts. Selah. |
| 15 | כַּצֹּאן לִשְׁאוֹל שַׁתּוּ מָוֶת יִרְעֵם וַיִּרְדּוּ בָם יְשָׁרִים לַבֹּקֶר וצירםוצירםוְצוּרָם לְבַלּוֹת שְׁאוֹל מִזְּבֻל לוֹ | Ka-tzon lish-ol shat-tú; má-vet yir-eém; va-yir-du vám ye-sha-rím la-bó-ker; ve-tzu-rám le-bal-lót she-ól mi-ze-vul lo. | Like sheep they are appointed for Sheol; death shall be their shepherd, and the upright shall rule over them in the morning. Their form shall be consumed in Sheol, with no place to dwell. |
| 16 | אַךְ־אֱלֹהִים יִפְדֶּה נַפְשִׁי מִיַּד־שְׁאוֹל כִּי יִקָּחֵנִי סֶלָה | Akh E-lo-hím yif-déh naf-shí mi-yad she-ól; ki yi-ká-khe-ni. Sé-lah. | But God will ransom my soul from the power of Sheol, for He will receive me. Selah. |
| 17 | אַל־תִּירָא כִּי־יַעֲשִׁר אִישׁ כִּי־יִרְבֶּה כְּבוֹד בֵּיתוֹ | Al ti-rá ki ya-ashír ísh; ki yir-béh ke-vód béi-to. | Be not afraid when a man becomes rich, when the glory of his house increases. |
| 18 | כִּי לֹא בְמוֹתוֹ יִקַּח הַכֹּל לֹא־יֵרֵד אַחֲרָיו כְּבוֹדוֹ | Ki lo ve-mo-tó yi-kákh ha-kól; lo ye-réd a-kha-ráv ke-vo-dó. | For when he dies he will carry nothing away; his glory will not go down after him. |
| 19 | כִּי־נַפְשׁוֹ בְּחַיָּיו יְבָרֵךְ וְיוֹדֻךָ כִּי־תֵיטִיב לָךְ | Ki naf-shó be-kha-y-yáv ye-va-rékh; ve-yo-du-khá ki te-tív lákh. | For though, while he lives, he counts himself blessed — and though you get praise when you do well for yourself. |
| 20 | תָּבוֹא עַד־דּוֹר אֲבוֹתָיו עַד־נֵצַח לֹא יִרְאוּ־אוֹר | Ta-vó ad dor a-vo-táv; ad ni-tzakh lo yir-e-ú or. | His soul will go to the generation of his fathers, who will never again see light. |
| 21 | אָדָם בִּיקָר וְלֹא יָבִין נִמְשַׁל כַּבְּהֵמוֹת נִדְמוּ | A-dám bi-kár ve-lo ya-vín; nim-shál ka-be-hemót nid-mú. | Man in his pomp yet without understanding is like the beasts that perish. |
