Lamah rageshú goyim uleumim yehgú rik. |
Why are the nations in turmoil, and why do the peoples mutter in vain? |
| 2 |
Yityatzevú malkhéi-éretz veroznim nosedú-yakhad al-Adonai veal-meshikhó. |
The kings of the earth take their stand, and the rulers conspire together against Adonai and against His anointed. |
| 3 |
Nenatkah et-moserotéimo venashlikhah miménu avotéimo. |
Let us break their bonds, they say, and cast away their cords from us. |
| 4 |
Yoshev bashamáyim yiskhak, Adonai yilag-lamo. |
He who sits in the heavens laughs; Adonai mocks them. |
| 5 |
Az yedaber eléimo veapó uvakharonó yevahalémo. |
Then He speaks to them in His anger, and terrifies them in His wrath. |
| 6 |
Vaaní nasákhti malkí al-Tziyón har-kodshí. |
But I have set My king upon Zion, My holy mountain. |
| 7 |
Asaperah el-khok, Adonai amar elai: bení atah, aní hayom yelidtikha. |
I will tell of the decree: Adonai said to me, You are My son; this day have I begotten you. |
| 8 |
Sheal mimeni veetenah goyim nakhalatekha vaakhuzatekha afsei-éretz. |
Ask of Me, and I will give the nations as your inheritance, and the ends of the earth as your possession. |
| 9 |
Teroem beshevet barzel, kikhli yotzer tenapetzem. |
You shall break them with a rod of iron; you shall dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. |
| 10 |
Veatah melakhim haskílu, hivasrú shoftéi éretz. |
Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. |
| 11 |
Ivdu et-Adonai beyirah veguilú biradah. |
Serve Adonai with awe, and rejoice with trembling. |
| 12 |
Nashekú-var pen-ye’enaf vetovedú derekh, ki-yivar kimat apó; ashrei kol-khosei vo. |
Pay homage in purity, lest He be angry and you perish in the way, for His wrath is quickly kindled. Happy are all who take refuge in Him. |
